Hired someone new and exciting? Promoted a rising star? Finally solved that hard-to-fill spot? Share the news with us and we’ll share with it others. That’s right. Send us your announcements and we’ll find a home for them. Don’t be shy. Everyone wants to know who is coming and going, especially with all the layoffs. Despite the downsizing, there is movement. Here are some of the latest changes. Recognize anyone?
And here is something we hope to make a regular feature. Send us a photo and we will spotlight a different person each week. This time around, we note that Genzyme hired Lilly’s former head of manufacturing, Scott Canute, to run manufacturing and operations. He will be in charge of pulling rabbits out of hats, given Genzyme’s embarassing problems at a plant that...

That’s the latest cry of the MoS:
That giant sucking sound you hear is the noise of money being vacuumed from the wages of productive workers into the pockets of dubious welfare claimants.
..writes a MoS journalist, who, by definition of his chosen career, is also a dubious claimant to being a productive member of society. It continues…
How can it be right for taxes to be used to subsidise alcoholics and drug abusers, in the guise of a questionable, inadequately monitored payment called ‘Disability Living Allowance’, which can be obtained without a doctor’s letter?
The same way a smoker can get access to a mobility allowance when they can’t walk more than 10 steps; or a fast food junkie can apply for home renovations because they can’t fit through ...

Mrs Mo went back to work today and got on OK. At lunchtime she phoned the benefits folks "helpline" to ask about help with the repeat claim forms. Unfortunately she got a very snotty, obstructive twat who robotically repeated an annoying and unhelpful quote from the letter, "you must complete and return the form before april" to her every question. I know we sound like scroungers but I worked full time and paid National Insurance for thirty years. Surely our great welfare state must be the envy of the world.I was up early again after little sleep but I still don't feel energetic. I've spent the day trying in vain to make a start on my first written exam. I'm driven but I can't seem to apply myself at all, can't focus. I try to rearrange a simple equation and sit staring at the page. I go t...

Just when I think things are going so good I am once again smitten by the curse of the Black Pearl. Only a month after jumping ship and waving farewell to the pirate and the pills they are trying to pressgang me with the King’s shilling. So even though I was only awarded DLA in September, they want me to reapply now for when it runs out in August. The form is a nightmare. I gave up the last time after a couple of hours. Mrs Mo persevered for the best part of a day. In the end she travel to meet with a benefits officer to sort it all out. I had hoped it would simply be a case of confirming that my circumstances hadn’t changed but no they want it all. If only we had kept a copy to copy from. One of the parts is about what medication I am taking and what psychiatrist I am seeing. It looks ...
