Well, the other shoe has dropped, and it’s a doozy: Nearly 270 employees were fired or suspended for abusing or neglecting residents of large, state-run institutions for the mentally disabled in Texas during the last fiscal year, according to records obtained by The Associated Press. The revelations Friday come a day after Gov. Rick Perry signed legislation aimed at improving security and oversight at the 13 institutions, known as state schools. It’s a very happy day for our country.” Included in the blueprint is language that calls for an equal pay raise between military employees and civilian federal employees.  President Obama had originally proposed slightly higher pay for members of the armed services.  The exact pay raise for bureaucrats will be determined in the appropriations process, but it’s likely to be a hike of anywhere from 2.9% to 3.9%.  This would come on top of last year’s 3.9% raise. The issue may have contributed to five deaths, Medtronic said. Here we go again. This can’t be good given the already dark shadow that was cast upon ICD’s in the major recall that occurred in 2005. And because of limited supplies Medtronic won’t be able to re-supply patients until later in the fiscal year. I think it is safe to say that there will be an enormous monetary implication due to this. If you have concerns, put a call into your doctor and they will put a call into consultants for Medtronic.
