Since March I’ve been working out with a fitness instructor. She is the toughest, most motivated coach I’ve ever known. Sadly, today was our last day together because she’s beginning maternity leave and I’m moving out of the area.
Leisure Time Equals TV Time for Most Americans

Sometimes the only thing that gets us through the workday is the thought of collapsing on our couches at 8 p.m. to enjoy an hour of mindless sitcom madness. Should we be devoting our time to more worthwhile activities? Sure. We could volunteer, exercise, or learn a new language, but after eight + hours of work, do we have it in us to work for a few more every night?
Most Americans watched TV in their free time last year, and, in fact, time in front of the TV rose by 12 minutes since 2007. The average amount of TV watched per day was 2:12. Yikes…That’s a little embarrassing. Maybe we should look into more productive after-work activities, like helping the homeless. We could probably still get in at least half-an-hour of mindless entertainment while working out ...

Health & Fitness Blogs On the Map.

Looking for some new health and fitness blogs to read or prehaps searching for some old favorites like, say, Healthbolt?
Then check out this neat Health and Fitness Blog map created by Mike from Beach Fitness.

You can’t see the names of the blogs here as I had to reduce the size to get the map to fit.
But if you click here, you’ll end up at the full screen, readable version of the map. It’s worth it. The map is a great resource and has introduced me to a number of health and fitness blogs I might never have found.
One thing though. I’m thinking that the physical location of the blogs might be a little out of sync. After all, I write the Healthbolt blog from New Zealand and the b5Media network who owns the blog is in Canada, but on this map we are located somew...

You might think you’re fit.
But are you ?
Find out with the President’s Challenge Adult Fitness Test.
It’s been designed by The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, a group of volunteers who advise the government and ultimately the President about fitness, physical activity, and sports in the U.S.
It measures your aerobic fitness, muscular strength & endurance, flexibility, and body composition by having you…
Walk one mile or run 1.5 miles and log in your time.
Count the number of half sit-ups you can do in a minute.
Count the number of push-ups you can do in a minute.
Do a sit-and-reach flexibility test.
Measure your height, weight, and waist.
The results are then entered and an evaluation and tips for improvement will be done.
As this was...
