Today’s video games are pretty nuts. Everything is wireless and 3-D and crazy. Not that we didn’t enjoy playing all the old-school Atari games of yesteryear, but now they’re so intense that StarFox, Q-bert, and Frogger just seem – boring. We’ll always have a special place in our heart for Sonic, but what do today’s kids think about our traditional old-world video games?

Hate wasting an entire beer when you just want a taste? Wish there were a tiny, woman-size beer out there? Well, the 1970s has a solution. Introducing the Michelob “Mich VII” beer. Seven ounces is the perfect size for a lady who just wants to whet her palate. We’re going to spend the rest of the afternoon imagining how different our lives would be if only the Mich VII had caught on. Maybe we can help bring it back.

It’s been a week or two since I last posted Friday Funnies, but Do Not Panic! Dreadful though they may be, they return with vengeance today.
First, a little light philosophy – Aphorisms of the Philosophers (courtesy of Glyn Hughes Squashed Philosophers: Go there, you’ll love it)
Confucius
One who knows and knows he knows is a wise man, Follow Him
One who knows and knows not he knows is asleep, Awaken him
One who knows not and knows he knows not is a child, Teach him
One who knows not and knows not he knows not is a Fool, Avoid him
Schopenhauer – Would you believe, German pessimist academic philosopher (no kidding!)

First up: When women get together outside the kitchen is a post from Zuska about the way in which other people, typically men, view groups of women when they’re together. This excerpt from UrsulaK le Guin,
How men feared women! she thought, walking among the late-flowering roses. Not as individuals, but women when they talked together, worked together, spoke up for one another – then men saw plots, cabals, constraints, traps being laid.
Zuska continues with a look at the way women can be perce...

Thought I would share this funny little joke that I ran across today… since cardiology is so darn specialized…
What’s the difference between a general practitioner and a specialist?
One treats what you have, the other thinks you have what he treats.
I actually chuckled out loud!

Children are born scientists. A friend of mine and her four-year-old son, Lilian and Sean, were experimenting with straws and water. When he made a huge mess on the floor (of course!), she scolded him and they had this enlightening conversation.

Sean: You shouldn’t scold me.
Lilian: Why not?
S: Because I’m a scientist.
L: So what it you’re a scientist? Why can’t I scold you?
S: Because scientists know everything.

Let’s have some applause for the little scientist! That’s a great comeback for every occasion.
