According to the latest CNN Poll.
The survey, released Monday, indicates that 27 percent of Republicans nationwide support Perry for their party’s nomination, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who’s making his second bid for the White House, at 14 percent. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin follows at ten percent, with Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at nine percent, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who’s making his third bid for the presidency, at six percent. Every one else listed on the questionnaire registered in the low single digits.

Another national poll, like Gallup, last week that shows Texas Governor Rick Perry as the front-runner.
The momentum has been clear and it is all P...

Rudy Giuliani eyes New Hampshire path – The 2012 Republican primary is already well under way. His old campaign staff is mostly scattered to the winds. He still owes nearly $3 million from his 2008 presidential bid.
Despite those obstacles, Rudy Giuliani says he’s seriously considering another White House run — a bid that would look dramatically different than his campaign four years ago.

There are not going to be many better opportunities to change course in Afghanistan than the one presented by the killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad. It may be worth highlighting how ripe an opportunity this is:

The politics on the Hill are changing. It probably comes as no surprise that Reps. Walter Jones (R-NC) and Jim McGovern (D-MA) would like to end the Afghanistan war, but their “Afghanistan Exit and Accountability Act” has brought on co-sponsors like Tea Party stalwarts Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and Justin Amash (R-MI). This means that in the days and weeks to come, there will be Republicans on television and radio making the case for withdrawal. That could have a profound effect on where the debate goes from here. On t...

Taking the same list of 11 potential Republican nominees and pitting them against President Obama shows some interesting results. While he only garners 8% of overall adults and just 7% of Republicans in the primary field, Rudy Giuliani is the only candidate on the list who edges out President Obama in a head to head match-up, 51% to 49%. Sarah will be speaking to New York business leaders on Long Island, February 17, 2011.
Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin has agreed to a high-profile speaking engagement to New York business leaders on Long Island next month.
Palin will speak to the Long Island Association on February 17 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York, the group confirmed Friday.
Palin is also giving two paid speeches in Nevada at the end of January and is scheduled to speak Jan. 24 at a closed-press fundraiser for the Lubbock Christian School in Lubbock, Texas.
Wonder if Sarah will be meeting with Rudy Giuliani, if he is in town? (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

Now, this is interesting and I have not heard from any of Rudy’s 2008 campaign people about a Presidential race by the Mayor. But, maybe he is lying low, unlike the last time.
On Monday’s hour-long “Piers Morgan Tonight” interview, Rudy Giuliani tells Piers Morgan he’s more likely to run if Sarah Palin runs in 2012. “The more Republicans in which I can show a contrast…the better chance that I have,” he said, describing himself as a moderate.
But if he does run, Giuliani says he would concentrate on winning Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, sites of the first presidential nominating contests. In 2008 Giuliani ...

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani appeared on Fox News Sunday this weekend to argue against the Obama administration’s plan to try some alleged terrorists in New York courts. He did not acquit himself well.
Giuliani argued, for example, that criminal defendants aren’t tried “at the scene of the crime.” Criminal defendants are almost always tried in the jurisdictions where their crimes took place (not at the actual crime scene, of course). Giuliani’s insistence on misstating basic criminal procedure showed that he was twisting to score points against the administration. This is inappropriate political use of terrorism issues.
But Chris Wallace roasted Giuliani—with quotes from Rudy Giuliani. Of prosecuting the 1993 World Trade Center bombers, ...

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg has been elected to a third term, despite the two-term limits that New Yorkers voted for twice. His biggest challenge was persuading the City Council to overrule the voters, but he managed that trick thanks to his absolute mastery of money and politics in the Big Apple. And on election day, even his $100 million campaign barely overcame popular anger over the repeal of term limits.
Personally, I wish the Council had just given Bloomberg another term. Don’t get rid of term limits. Just do like the Romans used to do in an emergency. Name Bloomberg “dictator,” an extraconstitutional position with extraordinary authority but limited duration. Then you keep the rules, you just make an exception. And I’m sure Bloomberg would be willing to be addressed as...

You have support for higher defense budgets, a tendency toward threat-inflation and hysteria, a belief in an aggressive military posture and extensive saber-rattling, hostility to negotiations, and hostility to international law both in theory and in practice.
In the latest Rasmussen poll, Republican and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is far ahead of incumbent New York Governor David Paterson. Rudy is behind if he runs against Democrat Attorney General Andrew Cuomo but by only 7 points.
It’s a knockout for Rudy Giuliani if he’s the Republican candidate for governor in New York next year running against incumbent Democrat David Paterson. But if Andrew Cuomo is Giuliani’s opponent, chalk up a win for the Democrat. At least that’s the way it looks in the summer of 2009.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows Giuliani beating Paterson by 22 points, 55% to 33%. Eight percent (8%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent are undecided.
However, Cuomo tops Giuliani by seven points – 48% to 41% – in a ...

The US Department of Justice has dropped legal action against Ranbaxy after the Indian generic drugmaker agreed to provide long-sought audits, which may shed light on allegations that falsified records resulted in the production and sale of generic meds that failed to meet FDA standards (back story and latest court filing).
The move appears to end a stalemate that last July prompted the US Attorney in Maryland to force Ranbaxy to release the audits, which were conducted by Parexel and that Ranbaxy claimed were privileged information. In the interim, the FDA banned nearly 30 Ranbaxy meds from entering the US after the FDA cited two Indian plants for inadequate controls and procedures.
The hoopla recently prompted the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, which buys meds f...

This is the second time the former New York City mayor has acted as a paid consultant to a troubled drugmaker. He also worked for Purdue Pharma, which was fined for its Oxycontin marketing, and he helped negotiate a deal with federal prosecutors that kept company execs out of jail. Ironically, when he was a US Attorney in Manhattan, Rudy didn’t hesitate to send junk bond dealers to jail because they preyed on the system.
Rudy Giuliani campaigning for President in Santa Barbara, California September 2007
Former New York Mayor and GOP Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani while speaking as a John McCain “SURROGATE” on CNN yesterday let it slip that he still thinks HE is the best choice to be President.

When asked by interviewer John Roberts whether he thought he was better qualified than McCain to run the country, Giuliani said, “I thought I was best-qualified to be president.” (The video is here, and this exchange comes around the 3:12 mark).
Rudy had his chance and could have made this EXACT point while running against John McCain in New Hampshire, but he didn’t. Giuliani declined to run tough contrast ads and paid the price in a disastrous, failed campaign.

Senator “Slow” Joe Biden, renown for his plagiarism, weighs in on Rudy Giuliani’s criticism of Barack Obama’s national security policy.
It’s no surprise that it takes a man with zero national security and foreign policy experience to defend the policies of John McCain and President Bush.
The facts are that the policies President Bush has pursued and Senator McCain would continue, have not made us safer. We’re bogged down in Iraq with no end in sight and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan – the people who actually attacked us on 9/11 – have regrouped and are plotting new attacks. In fact, terrorist attacks around the world have increased since 9-11.

The problem is: Barack Obama has LESS experience than Giuliani, NO executive exp...

On a conference call this morning Rudy Giuliani continued his attacks on Barack Obama’s national security policy.
“I describe the difference as one being on offense and the other wanting to be on defense,” former New York City mayor and one-time GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani just said on a conference call with reporters.
The “one” he believes would go on offense against terrorism, is GOP presidential contender John McCain. On “defense,” in Giuliani’s opinion: Democrat Barack Obama.
Giuliani believes it’s wrong to take a “criminal justice” approach to combating terrorism.
Giuliani also said it is “startling” that the Obama campaign believes Osama bin Laden would have the right to habeas corpus if he wer...

It is good to hear from Rudy again, particularly in an area where he is extremely well versed - the federal judiciary and the law.
Without a doubt, Rudy is the best qualified of all of the candidates for President in this area and why Flap thinks that, should he want it, will be appointed Attorney General by a President John McCain. Rudy may wish to run for Governor of New York and decline.
During his campaign for the Presidency, Rudy made the case for “originalist” judges and was the most outspoken on the need for conservative appointments to the federal bench. He was endorsed by conservative judicial activist Ted Olson, a former Solicitor General of the United States.

John McCain talks about his health care reforms in a 60 second TV ad
With all of the hubbub of Jeremiah Wright at the National Press Club yesterday, John McCain’s first health care televison ad has almost slipped through the cracks.
What does McCain say?
Nothing glowing but promotes a $5,000 family tax credit to purchase health insurance.
Hillary and Obama have grand sounding health care reform plans that promise the world but mandate insurance and government redistribution to provide the care.
Rudy Giuliani had more of a private sector health care reform plan that McCain should adopt. Or, is that what McCain is trying to say? (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

With McCain called back to Washington to vote in the Senate, Rudy Giuliani pitched in and headlined a $1,000-a-plate luncheon for the Arizona senator, and said he believed the Republicans can win Pennsylvania.
“I would consider this for John a very doable state, a state he could win” Giuliani told reporters after the luncheon. “Someone like John McCain that has outreach to independent and to Democratic voters, this is a perfect state for him.” (Indeed, a recent Pennsylvania poll shows McCain leading both Clinton ...

New York State Gov. Elliot Spitzer is joined by his wife Silda as he makes a statement to reporters during a news conference Monday, March 10, 2008 in New York. Spitzer has apologized to his family and the public, but did not elaborate on a bombshell report that he was involved in a prostitution ring.
After apologizing to his family and voters for being involved in a prostitution scandal, it is now rumored that New York Governor Elliot Spitzer will resign his office this evening - perhaps by 7 PM EDT.
During a news conference Monday afternoon, Spitzer, 48, apologized to his family and the public, but did not go as far as to explain why. “I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family and violates my sense of right and wrong,” he said in a brief statement. &#822...

Rudy Giuliani’s latest campaign ad - “Not Endorsed”

Word from Florida “on the ground” is that Rudy’s turnouts at rallys have eclipsed McCain and Romney and the Cuban community is voting overwhelmingly for Rudy. Absentee and early voters have broken 2/3′rds for Giuliani making tracking polls hard to decipher.

The Giuliani campaign is working hard and is confident of a win tomorrow despite the reports of Rudy’s demise by the MSM.

Florida voters have been switching to Giuliani because of the nastiness and rancor between Romney and MCCain.

The campaign is also gearing up for the run ...

Jon Voight traveling with Mayor Giuliani on the stump in Florida
Texas Governor Rick Perry will be joining the Mayor to campaign on Monday.
Giuliani internal polling shows a close race with the Mayor leading by a few points. Romney is in second place and McCain has lapsed into third place - hence the Crist endorsement tonight.
The Giuliani campaign is counting on early banked votes to propel him to victory and this partly explains his fall in the polls - Florida voters have already voted for him.
This is a very fluid race and undoubtedly there may be more surprises or attacks between Romney and McCain. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

Rudy Giuliani Television Ad, “Clear”
The closing televison ad for the Giuliani Florida campaign. It will run on all CBS affiliates in Florida, including a spot before “Sixty Minutes” on Sunday.
Although some polls have the Mayor in either second or third place, there are sufficient undecided voters to change this result.
Internal Giuliani polls show him up 3-4 points and his crowds have been excellent the past few days.
This race is too close to call.

If Florida and California voters are listening (Hurricanes and Earthquakes) this will resonate with them. John McCain opposes such a fund and Mitt Romney is, well, undecided.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, January 22, 2008
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum says John McCain is “out of touch with the needs of Florida voters,” due to his opposition to the National Catastrophic fund - which Rudy Giuliani supports.
The gloves are off in Florida.
Florida voters must understand that a vote for McCain is a vote for Democrat Party economics.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani sat down with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto and talked about his plan to jumpstart the American economy. He is the only Republican with a comprehensive plan to stimulate the market and get people back to work by implementing the largest tax cut in American history

MAYOR GIULIANI: “I think the Federal Reserve has to have the independence to assess these things. And generally they’ve been correct and I have no reason to criticize it. I think they’re looking at what we’re all looking at. And monetary policy is important to this. I put more of the focus on fiscal policy, though.
Republican presidential hopefulm Rudy Giuliani speaks to retirees at the Shell Point Retirement Community Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in Fort Myers, Fla.
With Rudy’s decline in poll after poll, supporters are asking: Rudy, when will you take the gloves off?
When will you go on offense against your GOP opponents?
Brent Seaborn, chief campaign strategist:
“Rudy is as tough a campaigner as anybody in this race, when the time is right, I think we will see him decide it’s time to draw a bit more of a contrast between John McCain or frankly any of the opponents that comes into the state. For the most part, we have been in the fortunate position that a lot of the attacks have not been directed our way…I think we are happy that we are not being attacked….so far the mayor feels like the fi...

Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani walks in part of The Three Kings Parade route in the Little Havana section of Miami Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, as he continues to campaign in Florida.
With the latest Florida Quinnipiac poll showing a statistical tie between four GOP candidates, Rudy is fighting for every vote in Florida. Indeed, Florida has been his firewall against declining national poll numbers.
Tomorrow’s Michigan primary election results will clarify the race and could lead to fewer candidates or scramble this “wide open” race even more.
In the meantime, Rudy will continue his bus tour stumping for votes in Florida. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

A Florida voter discusses why she will be voting for Rudy Giuliani for President
But, you will never hear this from the MSM because Rudy is either fading, has money problems or cannot win for a myriad of other reasons.
This sentiment was the same when Giuliani was running as a Republican for New York City Mayor against a city full of Democrats.
Flap would not underestimate the Mayor’s strength in Florida and in the February 5 Super Duper Tuesday states, including California. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

Rudy Giuliani on Illegal Immigration, South Carolina GOP Debate, January 10, 2008
Illegal immigration is one of THE WEDGE ISSUES that Rudy must use against John McCain. It is imperative that Rudy contrast his ideas expressed in his twelve committment’s illegal immigration plan with that of the amnesty laden Kennedy-McCain immigration plan that failed this past summer - yet McCain co-authored with the liberal Teddy Kennedy.
What would Rudy do:

Bring Order To The Border: Congress authorized the construction of 700 miles of border fence in 2006 and then appropriated over $1.1 billion for border security. However, Washington has only built a few dozen miles of fence. Rudy will commit to building the fence – both physical and high-tech – no...

Key graphs:
McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.
McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.
McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases — in American history.
McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights.
McCain-Reimportantion of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety (hey Rudy, pay attention, see link).

The pundits have been hard on the Giuliani campaign without regard to the small number of voters deciding through either a caucus or an election on a candidate in the less populated states of Iowa and New Hampshire.
The voter demographics in these states is not representative of America as a whole but yet for decades have had a disproportionate share of the say as to who the Presidential nominee of each party is. This is why California and a number of states moved up their primary elections. American voters want a SAY.
The parties after this Presidential election cycle MUST develop a regional primary system, like Super Duper Tuesday, to enfranchise more VOTERS.

Flap’s acquaintance former California State Senator John Lewis makes the case (via Hugh Hewitt) for a “BROKERED” GOP Convention this Fall in Minnesota.
Flap mentioned the possibilty when the Huckaboom first started and with John McCain’s surge it is more than just possible.
Will Rudy and McCain cut a deal with each other?
Rudy Giuliani as President and John McCain as Vice President or vice versa? Rudy’s strategy is consistent.

And, what about Huckabee? Will Huck be left out?
Super Duper Tuesday will give us the answer. MAYBE……

Is a DEAL Possible?
You bet.
The GOP will need a united ticket to beat the Clinton Cabal in November. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental...

Has Rudy Giuliani put all of his eggs in one basket - Florida?
Well, sort of.
But, how about multiple baskets - spread out throughout the United States.
Is it the RIGHT strategy?

Mayor Rudy Giuliani sat down with the Fox Business Network’s Neil Cavuto and talked about his plan for the biggest tax cut in American history. In addition to cutting the capital gains from 15% to 10% and slashing the corporate tax from 35% to 25%, Rudy said that his plan would provide much needed tax relief for individuals across all income levels.
Again, some of the specifics:

Make permanent the bush tax cuts NOW…not in 2010

Permanently index the alternative minimum tax (AMT) and then eliminate it when practical (no timetable)

Get rid of the Death Tax

Lower the capitol gains and dividend rate to 10% and index to inflation. (Here is where he could go further and actually eliminate the capitol gains tax)

Lower corporate tax rate ...

Rudy Giuliani Economic Advisor David Malpass sat down with CNBC’s Squawk Box to talk about Rudy’s new tax plan. Today in Florida, Rudy will lay out his comprehensive tax plan to cut taxes and help the economy grow, including a plan to allow all Americans to file their taxes on a single sheet of paper while lowering tax rates across all income brackets.
A BIG difference between Rudy Giuliani and John MCain?
John McCain voted against President Bush’s tax cuts and one BIGGER:
….. Giuliani would likely run a far more conventionally conservative presidency across the board than McCain. McCain delights liberals and loves to work with them. Giuliani infuriates liberals and if anything loves sticking it to them….

The Giuliani “Fast Form”
Rudy Giuliani unveiled today in Florida a plan to provide the largest tax cut in American history.
Some of the provisions:
The Giuliani tax cut plan would extend the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts immediately; eliminate the Death Tax completely; lower the capital gains and dividends tax rate to 10% and index capital gains to inflation; lower the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%; and permanently index the Alternative Minimum Tax to inflation with a plan for eventual elimination.
The Giuliani tax cut plan also contains a particularly bold pro-growth tax simplification strategy that would give taxpayers the option of opting into a simple tax plan in which their taxes could be done on one page. Instead of the current tax behemoth, the voluntary tax plan would con...

The dumbasses, including Carl Cameron, over at Fox News said twice this afternoon that Rudy Giuliani was in fourth place in Florida.
Not true according to the Real Clear Politics averages.
Rudy is in first place and leads a crowded field handily.
Fox is referring to a Datamar poll which is a Robo-poll (automated dialer) and obviously an outlier.
Of course, we saw last night how good the pollsters and pundits are anyway in predicting last night’s Obama victory in New Hampshire. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

The GOP debate at St Anselm College tonight was the most intimate and the best GOP debate so far. No audience and no spinning the voter was able to hear the candidates answer questions about issues. There was little positioning and sparring was on a civil tone.
So, who won?
Nobody.
Not one candidate made a difference in this debate in this continuing story of a race for President in 2008.
However, there were some notable exchanges, contrasts and some observations to make.

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, speaks after getting the endorsement of the New England Police Benevolent Association in Nashua, N.H., Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008.
Rudy Giuliani was NEVER the candidate that could receive the GOP nomination. Yet, Flap believes when February 5th comes along, Rudy will have amassed the plurality of delegates.
And, he has campaigned without miring himself in the mud with Huckabee, Romney and McCain.
Will Rudy’s strategy work?
Who knows?
But, the Mayor’s campaign has defied the conventional wisdom that put him dead in the water last January.
“Frankly, I don’t know why you’re so surprised,’’ he said. “My candidacy is an unconventional candidacy. I mean, from the day I started, I was a candidate that cou...

Kudos: ABC for a better format but the debate was on a tape delay basis on the West Coast. Many folks did not view it live.
Best Quote: Rudy Giuliani’s quip on Ronald Reagan showing up in a Romney attack ad about illegal immigration. If the Gipper were still around, “he’d be in one of Mitt’s negative commercials.”

After Michael Dukakis donned the tank hat and was ridiculed, political types have shunned the prop supported photo opportunity. Fred Thompson hesitated/refused to put on a Fireman’s hat and was criticized - unfairly so.
But, Rudy, the other day in New Hampshire decided against climbing aboard a Segway. He almost did.
Today he is racing them.

The Mac is back - at least in this poll:
McCain 33, Romney 27, Giuliani 14, Huckabee 11, Paul 9
Poll was conducted January 4-5 with a 5 point margin of error.
Not a huge margin for McCain and Huckabee does not seem to be getting a bump from Iowa Caucus win.
Should these results hold up.

Romney won’t be dealt a deathblow

McCain won’t be jump-started

Huckaboom in Iowa will be blamed on Evangelical demographics

Rudy is Ok but wasted too much money coming in third

Paul wasted a lot of money period

Earth to Rudy Giuliani: Why didn’t you blow off Iowa?
You knew it was going to be hard to compete because, Rudy, you are a moderate urban Catholic who does not play well to the rural Evangelical Christian crowd. Your candidacy is a tough sell there no matter what you would have done.
Why bother spending any money or time? You could have blown it off like McCain. And, McCain still polled better and you would not have received the indignity of losing to Ron Paul.
Now, you are off to New Hampshire where the players are Mitt Romney and John McCain. Both are hometown favorites and both have been “on air” for weeks with positive and ...

Mayor Rudy Giuliani sat down with CNN’s Larry King and talked about his national campaign strategy, and explained why his ability to compete and win in all 50 states makes him the best candidate to defeat the Democrats in November.
Fact: A record Iowa turnout of 120,000 GOP voters in last night’s Caucus
Fact: 151,000 equals the number of absentee ballots requested so far for Florida’s January 29th primary election.

Norman Hsu and Senator Hillary Clinton
As if last night’s third place finish in the Iowa Democrat Causcus wasn’t bad enough, Democrat and Hillary Clinton fundraiser Norman Hsu was sentenced today to three years in prison.
His troubles began dogging Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and other big-name Democrats last summer when news reports revealed he was a fugitive who fled the state before he was sentenced for the 1992 fraud conviction. He turned himself in on Aug. 31 — then fled again.
Federal corruption charges in New York are still pending.
Don’t be surprised if Rudy Giuliani mentions this tomorrow night at the GOP debate - Corruption in Democrat Campaigns. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

Rudy blows New Hampshire?
Giuliani has done more in New Hampshire than he should have. The state has always been leaning to Mitt Romney and John McCain. They have home field advantage.
John McCain beat President Bush in the 2000 GOP primary and has been campaigning there ever since. Mitt Romney has a New Hampshire vacation home and was the Governor of neighboring Massachusetts.
What makes anyone think that Rudy had a snow balls chance in New Hampshire. He didn’t. He wasted $3 million on paid media and will finish fourth or fifth. Maybe behind Huckabee and Ron Paul. Maybe not, but third...

“We congratulate Mike Huckabee on a hard-fought victory in Iowa. This race is wide open and we will continue to run a national primary campaign designed to win the number of delegates necessary to become the Republican nominee. Rudy Giuliani called for a new war on terror strategy, including a SURGE of troops in Afghanistan today at the Word War II themed Wright Museum in New Hampshire.
The transcript of this major policy speech is here.
Highlights:

So I think it wouldn’t be unfair to describe us as the 9/11 Generation, because how we handle this is going to say something about us in history.

We’re in the middle of a struggle that puts freedom versus fundamentalism, hope versus fear, democracy versus conflict. We didn’t seek this conflict, we didn’t start this conflict but we must finish it and we will win it. I guarantee you that we will win it.

Presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain R-Ariz., speaks at a town hall meeting at the VFW in Laconia, N.H., Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.
Two new polls show John McCain as the Comeback Kid:
Pew Research National GOP poll:

McCain - 22%

Giuliani - 20%

Huckabee - 17%

Romney -12%

The graph is stark in demonstrating Rudy’s decline and McCain’s and Huckabee’s ascent; Romney was flat:

In another New Hampshire ONLY poll - Suffolk Tracking, John McCain has SURGED to a 9 point lead over second place Mitt Romney:

McCain - 32%

Romney - 23%

Giuliani - 11%

Huckabee - 10%

Undecided - 13%

The polls are all over the place and poll taking during the Christmas and New Years holidays and over weekends is always dicey at best.

Yeah, Rudy blew off Iowa - well sort of and Iowa Senator Grassley said Rudy made a mistake.

Johnathan Martin (formerly of the Mitt Romney endorsing National Review) and who now works for the Romney shill Politico is all upset about the above direct mail piece dropped by the Mayor in Iowa.
What is the flap?
There is none.
But, Martin and/or his employer (who are clearly in the bag for Romney) like to dig the Mayor for not doing well in Iowa and diverting his campaign resources to compete in larger delegate states where he is doing better in the polls.
Flap talked about the Mayor’s strategy earlier today.
Does Martin think that Rudy wants to capitulate completely in Iowa or does he wish to contrast His Man Mitt’s superior performance for one quarter the delegates as California as actually having relevance?

While many of the beltway insiders seem to remain committed to the old “Carter/Clinton” approach and have questioned the adjustments we have made to our strategic thinking based on the new calendar, we cle...

Rudy Giuliani talking to reporters in Iowa, December29, 2007
The Iowa and New Hampshire television and radio airwaves and mailboxes are full of NEGATIVE CONTRAST ads. McCain and Huckabee are calling Romney names on the campaign trail.
But, Rudy Giuliani is taking a different approach - the high road - at least for now.
While his rivals accuse one another of dishonesty and lambaste one another’s records, Rudy Giuliani is attempting to stay above the fray, saying he will not attack his fellow GOP contenders.
“I’d rather stay away from criticism of other Republicans. Our objective is to beat the Democrats and the less we criticize each other, the better position we’re gonna be in to beat the Democrats,” he said after a quick stop at an Ind...

Fox News sees the stump speech change of direction - By the Numbers:
Rudy Giuliani’s closing argument to voters is increasingly revolving around one issue—the war on terrorism. While he has spent most of the year talking up his record as New York City mayor and time as US Attorney and US Justice Department, he has now turned to his strongest issue in the last couple weeks amid slumping poll numbers.

The Rudy Giuliani campaign KNOWS the world does not revolve around Iowa. And, it doesn’t despite what the Washington D.C. pundits and the other GOP campaigns say.
It is the number of pledged delegates to the GOP convention in September 2008 that counts.
As the national press corps have been increasingly focusing on the upcoming Iowa caucuses, Rudy Giuliani–who is largely bypassing the state—has been playing a minor role in the news cycle. He popped up in the Hawkeye State Friday and Saturday but will not be returning to Iowa before the voting begins this Thursday, and plans to spend caucus night in Miami, FL.

Rudy Giuliani has a presence in California - more than any other GOP candidate. Flap cannot recall any GOP Presidential primary campaign except for Ronald Reagan’s that has seen a more active candidate IN CALIFORNIA. Most come to California, extract their fundraising dollars and then return to Ohio and Florida to woo voters.
Why?
California, a blue state, is NOT in play.
Rudy hopes to change this and here is the strategy.
Moreover, the Giuliani campaign has “intellectual roots” based at the Stanford University (Palo Alto, California) Hoover Instit...

STATEMENT FROM DR. VALENTIN FUSTER, THE MOUNT SINAI MEDICAL CENTER, MAYOR GIULIANI’S PERSONAL PHYSICIAN
“I have been Rudy Giuliani’s personal physician for more than seven years.
I was informed late Wednesday evening that Mr. Giuliani was suffering from a significant headache and fatigue. These symptoms can be described as possibly “flu-like.”
As Mr. Giuliani’s personal physician, I stayed in contact with the doctors at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis throughout the course of the evening. Because of t...

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, addresses a gathering at a full coffee house during a campaign stop in Hampstead, N.H., Sunday Dec. 23, 2007.
Rudy Giuliani campaigning today in New Hampshire again showed the love to Senator John McCain.
During a campaign stop in Hampstead, N.H. today, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani said his Republican opponent, John McCain, R-Ariz., would make a “really good adviser.”
The former mayor was asked that since he did not have Washington experience like McCain, how would he navigate through the likely complicated dealings with Congress?
“John would be a really good adviser,’’ Giuliani said. “He’s a good friend. This campaign’s going to be over at some point, John is a friend now, he is going to r...

Republican presidential candidate former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks during a town hall meeting in Hopkinton, New Hampshire December 22, 2007.
Well, the Politico blew the earlier Giuliani Scandal and apparently the Fred Thompson hat one. So, they are making a big deal about Rudy’s physicians releasing a full report after Christmas.
Give me a break.
What physician in his right mind is going to waste his time during the weekend before Christmas to satiate the Politico or national press corps.
This piece by the Politico that implies Giuliani is hiding something is just plain bull shit.
If anything they should applaud Rudy’s good sense when he had a crushing headache to seek medical advice and consultation. Anyone of his age under the stress of a Presidential campaign,...

The New York Times debunks the Politico story that hit the day of the You tube Debates. Rudy Giuliani’s slide in the Presidential polls began this day as the internets were full of the story that Rudy used public funds to hide his affair with his then girlfriend, Judith Nathan.
Now, Byron York moans: Why Isn’t Anyone Paying Attention to This?
This was not exactly bannered across the front page of the New York Times yesterday. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I saw it in my paper at all. But on the Times’ website, dated December 20, there is this headline: “Giuliani’s Office Shifted Money Around? Yes. To Hide Hamptons Trips? Unlikely.”

Mike Huckabee has surged into a virtual tie with front-runner Rudy Giuliani in the national 2008 Republican presidential race two weeks before the first contest, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas whose campaign has caught fire in recent weeks, wiped out an 18-point deficit in one month to pull within one point of Giuliani, 23 percent to 22 percent.
The Poll:

Rudy - 23% (29%, 11-14 thru 11-17)

Mike Huckabee - 22% (11%)

Mitt Romney - 16% (9%)

Does anyone believe the tough Giuliani would ACTUALLY be THIS soft?
Nope, but that is the point, isn’t it?
Update:
Here is the ad that will go on air in New Hampshire:

The ad while wishing the saluataions of the season is a subtle dig at Mitt Romney who is running Christmas time attack ads against Mike Huckabee in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina.

Rudy Giuliani on the Sean Hannity Show yesterday
Since the Florida Rasmussen Poll of this past weekend, pundits have been declaring Rudy Giuliani to be “on the brink” of failing in his bid for the Presidency. They blame his “BIG STATE” strategy and that by emphasing states with a more diverse population, more people and more GOP delegates that he will fail.
This is hard to believe on its face - especially with national poll numbers, an 11 point lead, like these.
Granted, the Huckaboom and the sudden surge of Mike Huckabee’s popularity in the polls has led credence to this opinion.
But, there are signs of the Huckaboom losing steam and that if there is any certain result of his surge is that he muddles the race in the...

Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani delivers a speech during a campaign stop Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007 in Tampa, Florida.
Rudy on the Brink was the title of the post from Patrick Ruffini. What Ruffini was referring was the latest Florida Rasmussen poll which showed Rudy in third place behind leader Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney.
The Florida Rasmussen poll can be discounted and is in this piece over at the American Spectator.
The Huckaboom sweeping most of the lower 48 may have reached Florida. A Rasmussen daily poll on Friday showed the personable former Arkansas governor to be the choice of 27 percent of a sample of 685 likely Florida primary voters. Mitt Romney was second at 23 percent, Rudy Giuliani third at 19.
These are stunning numbers considering G...

Rudy Giuliani’s National poll demise apparently was greatly exaggerated.
The latest USA Today Gallup Poll:

Rudy - 27% (25, 11-30 thru 12/2)
Mike Huckabee - 16% (16)
Mitt Romney - 14% (12)
John McCain - 14% (15)

Republican presidential hopeful former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani greets the crowd following his speech during a campaign stop Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in Tampa, Fla.
It is being reported that the Giuliani campaign is reducing its media buy in New Hampshire and moving these campaign resources to Florida (voting by absentee ballot presently and at the polls January 29) and Super Tuesday February 5 states.
Jonathan Martin has the poop from the Rudy campaign:
A top Giuliani aide tells me that the decision was made to retain flexibility in a still very fluid race - a tacit acknowledgement that the uncertainty of the early races has given them the confidence to rely on delegate-rich Florida as a springboard.
“An important objective throughout has been to keep the race wide open until F...

From the Press release:
Tested
The next four years will present our country with daunting challenges. America needs a President with bold vision who can unite the country and lead by getting results. Some people look at the challenges we face as a nation and they fear the future. I welcome it. With eight years of experience leading the world’s 17th largest economy, I know how to solve problems people once thought impossible.
I took a $2.3 billion deficit and turned it into a multi-billion surplus. I transformed the nation’s crime capital into the safest large city in America by cutting crime by 60%. I slashed welfare rolls by 640,000 because it’s better t...

Republican presidential hopeful former Massachussets Gov. Mitt Romney speaks to local residents during a campaign stop Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in Humboldt, Iowa.
Mitt Romney, trailing in the Presidential polls to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee angrily attacked him today as Un-Republican.
Mitt Romney accused Republican presidential rival Mike Huckabee of “running from the wrong party” for criticizing President Bush’s foreign policy as an “arrogant bunker mentality.”
Romney defended Bush against Huckabee’s charge, which the former Arkansas governor leveled in the January-February issue of the respected journal Foreign Affairs.
“I can’t believe he’d say that,” Romney said to a gathering of about 100 supporters in a restauran...

Republican presidential hopeful and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee takes part in the Des Moines Register Republican Presidential Debate in Johnston, Iowa, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007.
In a stunning reversal in the Florida GOP race, Mike Huckabee has taken the lead in the latest Rasmussen poll. For months Rudy Giuliani has owned Florida as his “firewall” against early state losses.

Mike Huckabee - 27% (9%, 11-18)

Mitt Romney - 23% (19%)

Rudy Giuliani - 19% (27%)

Fred Thompson -9% (16%)

John McCain - 6% (10)

Ron Paul - 4% (5%)

The Huckaboom has hit Florida and if this poll is not an OUTLIER then Mayor Giuliani may need a Plan B. Some pundits have already seen the shift to an early New Hampshire push for Rudy.
The GOP race is very fluid and jumbled. And, as Flap has s...

Mayor Rudy Giuliani on what he would accomplish as President During his first year in office, December 12, 2007
Rudy will be giving a major address in Tampa, Florida tomorrow morning. Billed as a major speech, this scripted event, a rare occurrence in Hizzoner’s campaign will be the final phase of his campaign with a rousing message of what he would bring to the job and what he would do if elected.
Here are excerpts from the Mayor’s speech: “Tested. Ready. Now.”
America needs a leader. I am running for President of the United States because I believe that I can lead America into a new era …with bold leadership, optimism, determination, and distinctly American solutions.

Winners:

Rudy Giuliani always shines in these formats - a master at communicating his ideas. His answers on what he would do in his first Presidential year was by far the best of the group.

Mitt Romney who was articulate and polished - but maybe too rehearsed.

Losers:

Mike Huckabee who was rumpled, muddling and indcisive. His answers rambled with jargon and attempts at humor that fell short.

Fred Thompson - one wonders why he is up there. Does he care? If I hear one more word about my Grandkids.

John McCain - needed to make a differenc...

Rudy Giuliani the leader in national GOP polling cemented his frontrunner status with a strong Iowa Debate performance today. Let’s see what others are saying:

Rudy Giuliani arrives at The Counter in Santa Monica, California December 11, 2007
Rudy Giuliani continues to lead in the latest ABC/Washington Post National GOP poll:

Rudy - 25% (34%, November)

Mike Huckabee - 19% (9%)

Mitt Romney - 17% ( 13%)

Fred Thompson - 14% (16%)

John McCain - 12% (17%)

While the Mayor has fallen in this poll over the past month, he continues to draw strength from a plurality of GOP voters. Now, with less than 30 days to go before the first caucus in Iowa, it remains to be seen if Rudy can continue his national GOP poll lead, withstand some “early state” losses and sweep to victory on Super Duper Tuesday when big states vote.
Also, let’s look at the top two election issues:

Former New York City Mayor and Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani speaks to supporters at the National Italian/American Sports Hall of Fame in Chicago, Illinois December 7, 2007.
Rudy Giuliani continues to lead in the latest Mason-Dixon Nevada GOP poll:

This is quite a turn for Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee around from the previous Mason-Dixon poll in October where Rudy lead Thompson by 5 points and Huckabee registered only 2 points.
This is a good poll for the Mayor and shows his strength particularly among Nevada women in the first far western state GOP contest.
Will Nevada who caucuses on January 19, ten days before Rudy’s Firewall in Florida, provide the Mayor’s first early state win? Or will it be Michigan on January 15?
Stay tuned…….

Mayor Giuliani discusses the Iranian threat with Tim Russert on Meet The Press, Sunday, December 9
Rudy Giulian appeared on Meet the Press this morning, looking Presidential, cementing his foreign policy credentials and surviving intense questions from Tim Russert:
Defusing a steady stream of tough questions with a ready laugh and dose of humility, Rudy Giuliani used his softer side to emerge largely unscathed from his hour-long appearance on “Meet the Press” this morning.
Appearing on the closely watched show for the first time in more than three years, Giuliani was met with a succession of topics that could damage his campaign: his legal and consulting clients, his pre-9/11 security preparations, his resignation from the Iraq Study ...

With the surge of polling support for Mike Huckabee, Mayor Rudy Giuliani continues to hold a 8 point lead in the national Ap-Ipsos GOP polls.

Although Rudy has seen poll numbers decreasing with the Huckabee boom, he has to be reassured in the second part of the choice above - his clear double digit lead in the first and second place choices.
Giuliani’s “Big State” strategy is predicated on maintaining a national poll lead particularly for fundraising support. With his apparent second or third place finishes in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the Giuliani cam...

All eyes tomorrow will be on Mitt Romney and his Mormon Faith Speech: Faith in America. The direction and even the survivability of Mitt’s campaign will hinge on the speech. It could be the beginning of the end or the beginning of a revival.
Mitt now trails Baptist preacher and politician Mike Huckabee in Iowa and his poll numbers have been falling in other southern states where evangelical Christians make up more of the GOP voter base.
But, Romney is NO JACK KENNEDY.
If Romney missteps he is done.

Rudy Giuliani pens this op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal today:
With economic uncertainty weighing on the minds of many Americans, Congress is preparing to recess after another year of profligate spending, protectionist talk and promises of higher taxes. No wonder some people feel like we’re moving in the wrong direction. But I’m optimistic as I look to the future. It’s not our country that’s moving in the wrong direction — it’s Congress, and Washington’s culture of wasteful spending.
