We Alcoholics Anonymous members surrender to win; we give away to keep; we suffer to get well, and we die to live.
A.A. does not function in a way which people normally expect it to. For example, instead of using our “will power,” as everyone outside A.A. seems to think we do, we give up our wills to a Higher Power, place our lives in hands -invisible hand’s-stronger than ours. Another example: If twenty or thirty of us real drunks get away from home and meet in a clubroom down-town on Saturday night, the normal expectation is that all thirty of us will surely get roaring drunk, but it does not work out that way, does it? Or talking about whiskey and old drinking days (one would normally think) is sure to raise a thirst, but it does not work that way either, does it? Our program and ...

In 2009 alone, over 190,000 females and 1,900 males have been diagnosed with breast cancer. But over the years, there have already been more than 10 million cancer survivors. With new research, early screening and treatment, the number of survivors grow. But there is much more work ahead to totally eradicate cancer of the breast and all the other types.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness this October, several companies are running the Think Pink Campaign and donating their proceeds towards breast cancer foundations and research. One of these is Melange Perfume, which will donate 30% of all sales of their portable Pink Solid Perfumes in floral fragrances to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc..

We have being doing "that" little trick in our family for as long as I can remember, although admittedly the memory is a bit shaky these days.So today is the day that we draw the winner for the "giveaway." It should have been the first of May and the end of Autism Awareness Month, but real life ran away with me.I did plan to use the randomizer but tempest fugit so I trusted the job to "Old Faithful." To be honest we practiced a LOT first, as chance, random and 'lap of the gods' are all matters of great angst. In fact when I think of the time we spent practicing, I could probably have learned how to use the randomizer and saved myself hours. Glad his sister was on hand to translate my appalling hand-writing!So the winner is "Susie" at "Susies Homemade." If you can trust me with your postal ...

Money = Happiness

It turns out that whoever said money can’t buy you happiness was wrong.
	Money can buy you happiness, as long as you give some of the money away.
	Dunn and colleagues (2008) conducted three studies that examined the relationship between Americans’ spending habits and their self-reported happiness. The first study was a national survey conducted on 632 Americans that asked to detail their income and spending habits. The participants were also asked to rate their general happiness level.
	The researchers found that two things were correlated with greater general happiness levels — higher income (naturally) and spending on gifts for other people or money given to charity.
	One could argue, well, hey, of course having more income can make you happy… But maybe it&#821...

We are going to play that game- what is in your medicine cabinet? The winner takes home a copy of a great cookbook of their choice- I have about 10 diabetic cookbooks just waiting to be given out as a prize. The latest is my fave- it even gives grocery lists for up to 20 weeks!! What a great and simple tool to help keep you on track.
How do you play you ask? Leave me a comment below- what is in your medicine cabinet when you open it up and take a peek. You can even send me a picture to post. Thank goodness I cleaned mine out last week! I will number the comments as they come in and pick the winner at random. I will then contact you with a choice of 3 cookbooks and you will pick your prize! East enough right?
Ok, send them my way… and no cleaning it out first, haha.
