Buffer
Dr. Deb is a psychologist and practicing psychoanalyst who just published her book: Living with Depression: Why Biology and Biography Matter along the Path to Hope and Healing. She also did a wonderful job with the new grand round of medblogs.
Grand Rounds is a weekly round up of the best health blog posts on the Internet. Each week a different blogger takes turns hosting – me this time around – and summarizes the submissions of the week.
As a music lover, I thought I’d give Grand Rounds a vintage vinyl feel. So please make sure your phonographs are ready to go.
Enjoy the read of the summary and check out what seems interesting

The Thanksgiving 2010 edition of Grand Rounds is up at Amanda Brown’s facebook page.
The theme is gratitude. It’s probably the first time the Grand Round is on a Facebook page. So go over to Amanda Brown for an excellent read and selection of posts from Medblogs.

At this time of year, I always stop and think about what I’m thankful for, and this year I’d say the medical blogging community is definitely on my list.

The MedLib’s Round Blog Carnival is a monthly blog carnival that showcases excellent posts in medical librarianship. The carnival is not restricted to librarians – anyone can submit as long as the post is relevant and of good quality. If you have an article on medical librarianship, PubMed, evidence-based medicine, information literacy or Web 2.0 tools etc., you’re welcome to submit, I will be the next host. There is no special theme.
Please submit your article before January 2, 2010 through this form. The MedLib’s Round 1.9 should be available on January 6th.

at Alisha764’s Blog: A solo medical librarian’s ramblings. A blog carnival of “excellent posts in the field of medical librarianship.”
Amongst excellent topics also the long awaited PubMed redesign was previewed this week. Another highly anticipated preview was Google Wave. You could argue both previews have brought to light issues with the new products; however, each holds promise for changing the medical library field. The discussion about H1N1 flu and vaccination is another topic leading to several excellent posts.

That’s right, the Medical Blog Grand Rounds are back!
This time the topic is money in medicine. As an emergency medicine doctor in the Australian public health system I hate having to think about dollars and cents, but they’re part of the inescapable reality of modern health systems. Edwin Leap provides a great introduction to the topic and superbly summarises the blogs of the week.
My tip this week - check out The Web 2.0-EBM Medicine split. [1] Introduction into a short series at Laika’s MedLibLog for an enlightening look at the tensions and differences between evidence-based medicine and Medicine 2.0. This is THE future of medicine folks! - incidentally, make sure you’ve read “The times they are a changing“.
Edwin Leap has the honor to host the first Grand Round of 2009. The theme of this week is profit in medicine.
“The value, or detriment, of financial profit in health-care. From doctors to pharmaceutical companies, universities to insurers and everything in between; is profit good or bad?”

Its time for another Grand Round of Medical Blogs. This week the host is the magnificent Moneduloides and the theme is an inspired one (in my unbiased opinion): “At the interface of Evolution and Medicine“. You’ll discover a link there to “Nothing in medicine makes sense except…” and see that I have been accused of being overzealous. Who? Me? About evolution? Surely not!
For me, the “must read” of the week would have to be “Ode to Vocal Cords” from Notes of an Anaesthesioboist, who incidentally, must be one of the front-runners for medGadgets’ Best Literary Medical Weblog 2008, which, thanks to the author of Life In The Fast Lane, this blog has also been nominated for (!).
Happy New Year!

…to check out the holiday season medical blog Grand Rounds (Vol. 5 No. 14): Highlight HEALTH. Once again a great job done uniting a week in the world of medical blogging.
Probably my favourite link is to Happy Hospitalist’s When I am 30 - an essay by a school student assessing their possible future career as a doctor… be careful you don’t crack a rib!
You can also find a link there to Jack Barnes and the Irukandji Enigma.
And finally… to my fellow Christmas curmudgeons… Happy Newton Day for tomorrow! (Source: AEQUANIMITAS)
