News Alert!
Everything Bad For You is Now Good
Great news! All of my former guilty pleasures have turned out to be health foods. Instead of fearing that my addiction to dark chocolate, coffee and red wine is leading me to premature death, I am in fact increasing my life span, and reducing my chance of many horrible diseases. Yes!
Take coffee. I cannot function in the morning until I’ve had a large cup, sometimes two. I’ve always felt bad about this, knowing that I am dependent on the tasty black liquid, and its stimulant effects. My family understands that each morning during the pre-coffee phase, I will be unable to communicate effectively, beyond some basic grunting noises. I shuffle around, scratching and muttering while the beans are grinding and the water is percolating. I...

After doing the rounds, getting necessary documents for my job application, I went to SM Marilao to have early dinner with parents and watch the much-awaited The Dark Knight movie (perhaps I’ll be posting a review when most people have already seen the film. Ehehe). Then I’ve decided to linger for a bit more, not wanting to go home just yet, when I saw that AstroVision and Video City have DVDs on sale. I went in and found these gems (see picture on the left). And goodness, finally I’ve got The Wedding Singer! I’ve been looking for the original DVD for years but it seemed that I had a curse and that I’ll only find it once I’ve watched all Adam Sandler movies (which fortunately, isn’t true, as I’ve found the DVD tonight! Yey!). Me...

I have shared in the past that one of my guilty pleasures in life is perusing the website Perez Hilton for all the important news in and around Hollywood, hahaha. I was joking on the important part… Well, one of my other very embarrassing, as my husband calls it, lil’ pleasures in life is my good ol’ People magazine! I love the dirt, the accusations and the occasional really good, informative story, which is what this would fall under.
Some of you might have already seen the article and read through it but for those that didn’t, I’m going to share. The story is about a Chicago first grader Lilly Jaffe who has been diabetic since she was one month old and her trials, complications and use of an insulin pump. At this point in her very young and full life Lilly d...

I wasn’t surprised when Charlie took a liking to bubble wrap a few years ago. He had long showed more interest in the ribbons and wrapping paper than in the actual presents themselves, no matter how elaborate a Playmobil set was concealed inside. Popping the plastic bubbles seemed to provide a sensory experience in several ways: Charlie could fell the thin plastic flattening beneath his fingers, and he could hear the effects: Pop, pop! A 13-year-old student, Hannah Haas, of Charlotte, NC, has designed “sensory wallpaper” to “engage and stimulate” children with autism for a Bubble Wrap Competition. Being surrounded by bubble wrap might be too much of a good thing—-but who doesn’t have their secret pleasures, like the guilty-pleasure songs the b5m...
