If it’s November and you live in the U.S., chances are you’re going to find yourself eating some turkey today. Happy Thanksgiving!

At this time of the year, it’s also traditional to give thanks for what we have. We’re a nation of bounty and plenty, even during these tough economic times. Most of us have the luxury of having a roof over our heads, food in our stomachs, and warmth in the cold. These are simple things we take for granted everyday.
But I want to really thank you for reading Psych Central’s World of Psychology blog all year long. This has been the 10th year I’ve regularly been blogging, and it’s 10 years I’ve really enjoyed. So thank you for reading.

I also want to thank our members, because without people who’ve made the ...

Happy Thanksgiving, 2009

It’s the last Thursday of November, and here in the States, that means our annual rite of giving thanks to our forefathers for “finding” America and making this a home for all of the outcasts in the world (e.g., “your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”). So Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.
So it seems like a good time, as I’ve done in years past, to thank you, our loyal and thoughtful readers, for helping make Psych Central the great independent mental health resource it is today. Without you, there wouldn’t be much point in writing and publishing every day to bring you new insights and perspectives on mental health and psychology. I want to especially thank our members, too, who make our site a special and safe place to get support...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING May this be a joyous day wherever you are, whether celebrating with friends, family, at work (yes, some people have to work on holidays) or doing something special alone.
Have you worked on your Thankful Poem?
Is it snowy, warm, rainy or bright and sunny where you are? Have you traveled or stayed at home?
We’re enjoying a relaxing day at home with our immediate family, cooking favorite foods and playing games, watching movies….and yes, shoveling snow left over from yesterday.

Forgive this departure into my family life (in fact, skip it if you want to!).So, after not having been home for Thanksgiving in years, and after having been painfully alone last Thanksgiving, I decided to go home for Thanksgiving this year. It's a 2000 mile trip, plus the several hundred miles I drove to see friends other places. So the thing about me going home is that... well... my family is a bit crazy. Nothing worse than the average alcoholic mother, bipolar aunt kinda stuff. And don't misunderstand me, I love them (even the crazy ones), but they're not what one would call relaxing. I do have to admit though that once I realized that their problems are not my problems, and not anything I'm going to be able to change, it did get less stressful (For the record, I was almost 30 when I had...

For those who celebrate in the United States….Happy Thanksgiving Day and may you have many blessings to count.
For those who don’t have this holiday, may you have a very happy day and blessings, too.
We usually spend the day with family, getting together with members they may not have seen for awhile. Often friends join us, too.
We have snow on the ground at our home in New Hampshire, the first of the season. So…snow and Thanksgiving herald the beginning of our winter season.

I'm heading out for 4 days of relaxation with friends and family in about 24 hours. I don't know if I'll get much blogging done while I'm away, but I just wanted to wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving (and if you're not an American, have a great week/weekend/happy Thursday!).I'm thankful for my blog, and the blog-readers. :) (Source: Midwife with a Knife)
