¡Hola amigos! ’Tis Pandora, returned narcissistically for a second edition of TWIM. I knew my megalomaniacal bribing of Z would result in a return to TWIM dominance before you could all say “who’s afraid of a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Version Four, Text Revision“.
Beware possible triggers (disordered eating, self-harm and suicide references).

Let’s kick off with a candid post from Differently Sane, who has been given some rather helpful advice on dating and sexuality from her GP.
At no point, after GP registrar tried to get Ex to come to therapy with me, then found out that the waiting list had been shut-down because it was too long (how common a problem is this?) it has never been mentioned. And whenever I bring it up (u...

I took my two Klonopin as I sat in my Honda relishing the last of the cold air I would feel for quite a few hours. I just let them dissolve in my mouth. They kind of have a minty taste to them. I was sitting in front of the house for which I would soon get to work in the yard. This man’s yard was a complete disaster compared to the other yards on the street. I had a big job ahead of me this afternoon and tomorrow. I got out my band saw and all my clippers and trimmers, put on my leather “cowhand” gloves, and got to work. The man stood in the yard watching me as he drank a Pabst Blue Ribbon talking a mile a minute. He was in what I thought his late sixties with thinning grey hair and a wife beater on. He had a hairy chest that would make Tom Selleck envious. He...

Coo-ee! Guess who. It’s Pandora, your multiply-diagnosed neighbourhood insomniac, very excited to be here for one week only (unless Z decides to indulge my megolamania again in the future) to feed you your regular dose of TWIM. For the record, as well as blogs that you’re probably very familiar with, I’m bringing in a few that I read regularly that have not (to my knowledge) been featured here before. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Most of all I hope that no one here in the madosphere is typing on that most pointless of devices, the Apple iPad (or iTampon, as it became affectionately known on Twitter). What in the name of God is the function of a giant iPhone without a phone? Perhaps more pertinently, can something as silly as the iPad cope with the ...

As the onset of winter approaches, it’s time to grab every opportunity for humour, fun and silliness. I think it’s vital – all that black winter clothing is so depressing maybe the flat mood is just because of having no colour! While the weather today is chilly, crisp and not too bad – I can feel the bad weather in my bones… So take a break, and enjoy!
After the airline pilot had managed to land the planeinto Wellington airport — albeit bumpily — following a descent through exceptionally heavy weather, she came out of the flight deck to bid the passengers farewell as they gratefully left the plane on their way back to terra firma.
The most memorable comment he received was from a little old lady who asked him politely whether he would pleas...

"Oh, I am going to be sick!" I exclaimed as I motioned for Tim to pull the company van off the road and onto the shoulder. "You're not pregnant, are you?" Tim jokingly quipped while I was barfing my guts out in the grass. I climbed back in the van feeling so much better. "You got a stomach bug?" Tim warily asked. "It's my nerves," I replied. We finally pulled into my Doctor's parking lot. I was due for an injection in the ole derrière. My sanity potion as I call it. The nurse had a hard time putting it together and almost screwed it up. "Dear God, please don't let her screw this up," I prayed with my heart pounding furiously in my chest. I was nervously rocking back and forth in my chair. Finally, I got m...

Do you call out sick from work?

As I have gotten older I have become so different. In the ways I think, act and even interact with people. I am still a child at heart- a Tom boy of sorts and fiercely independent and confident, but I also play by the rules so much more. We had a young tech call out from work the other day- we have a no call out policy so you have to find coverage- and it made me think how much I have changed. I would have to be very very very ill not to go to work. Bedsides the fact that I love what I do- I would not want to burden anyone with picking up one of my shifts or put fellow workers in the red. Gosh… I think it stinks that I am so responsible now these days, haha!
