10 Motivational Quotes That Will Jump Start Your Day

Sometimes a little motivation is all you need to get you “pumped-up” for your day, or to get you through your day. But some people try to discount motivation; however motivation is necessary in order for you to succeed. I like what Jim Rohn said about motivation, he said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”
With that, here’s some motivation for your day! When you’re done, pass it along to those you want to motivate.
10 Motivational Quotes That Will Jump Start Your Day:
Motivational Quote #1:
“I do not have superior intelligence or faultless looks. I do not captivate a room or run a mile under six minutes. I only succeeded because I was still working after everyone else went to sleep....

Life is like a taxi. The meter just keeps a-ticking whether you are getting somewhere or just standing still. ~Lou Erickso
Are you living a life you have chosen?
Or …
Just livin’ the one that happens — as it happens?
Or …
Are you waiting for something? Longing for a change? Mulling over conversation starters to reconcile a relationship?
Any of these situations hands us a proverbial basket of eggs. Small units of emotions, solutions, lessons-to-be-learned, refining, agony. Each one fragile — and once even cracked on the surface leads to a sticky mess.
The clock is ticking … What will you do with your basket?

Carefully choose your eggs for the day? Planning out your resources — your steps — as you journey in the direction of your dreams.

No Finish Line
Do your goals, hope and dreams have finish lines? Or do you fall into the trap of meandering within the distance between “Start” and “Finish”? Being driven by perfection, and the vain hope to do {it} perfectly. Waiting endlessly for the perfect start, the perfect way, the perfect time — the perfect inspiration.

Can this be accomplished? Managing overwhelm?? Isn’t the lack of control the very essence of overwhelm?
Maybe not.
Overwhelm is like a giant wave of tasks, situations and.or emotions that momentarily threatens to envelop us. It can paralyze us. Unless we grab a surfboard; a surfboard called Cope!
What? Go surfing?
Learning to cope with the sweeping waves of Life is part of living. We all have “bad” days when we simply wash onto shore — water-logged and exhausted. However, experience and practice enables any surfer — and those of us who merely “surf” the wild waves of Life — to ride to the shore on even the largest of waves!
My “surfboard” of choice at the moment is: One Step at a Time and {Master Lists}. And … I get ...

Life is full of simple delights … Pleasures within our days that we, all too often, zoom past without notice.
These pleasures inspire thoughts, enable us to exhale just a little more completely and provide proverbial pieces to the multiple life-puzzles in our mind and memory. Cloud formations are a common simple pleasure for me. Especially when framed by the lens of my camera …

Each afternoon, my canine grrls and I enjoy a “recess” … We walk around our little country acreage, exploring this and that — enjoying the fresh air, the busyness of birds and squirrels and the big, ever-changing country sky! One afternoon, camera in-hand — clicking away the images of the day — I spotted this view!
It proved to be a visual solution to the random, undefined...

Pharmaceutical companies are utilizing social networks at an increasing rate. In Sarah Kliff's article on Newsweek.com, she covers just one of them--Inspire.com. According to Ms. Kliff, Inspire's nearly 100,000 users aren't just sharing with each other (and the 62 nonprofits who partner with the site), they're also receiving targeted information from pharmaceutical companies who use the site as a recruiting tool for drug studies. Opening this door between patients and drugmakers has some obvious benefits but also raises a host of ethical and medical dilemmas. Kliff goes on to describe this phenomenon as a Pharma Facebook, of sorts. According to Kliff's research, three of the four pharmaceuticals working with Inspire declined to discuss their interest in social networks, or even reveal thei...

Barbara Walters - ABC News and ‘The View’:
… On the other hand, I have been blessed with a fascinating career. One I never expected to have when I began as a writer on television. And if today, if a young woman comes up to me and says, ‘I’m in journalism because of you,’ I think that is my reward. I never had a mentor, and I am both grateful and so proud that I could be that for someone else.
Jonelle Procope - CEO, Apollo Theater Foundation:
You should always be open to opportunities and new experiences. You don’t always know where life is going to take you and where the next opportunity is going to come from. If you’re open to trying different things, you can eventually find yourself at the right place at the right time. Very of...

A few weeks ago in Newsweek, they had short interviews with a number of women with successful careers. I thought they had a bit too many involved in the entertainment industry, but in general I think they did a good job with it. I would love to give you the link to read the whole thing on the Newsweek web site, but their site is not organized well and their search is shitty. I spent a lot of time looking and couldn’t find this article on their site anywhere.
However, some of the quotes were quite inspirational and I’d like to share some of them here:

Okay … My thoughts for this post began with this quote:
Heroism consists of hanging on one minute longer. ~Norwegian Proverb

Then I thought, “Ah, end of rope … tie a knot …”
Then I thought, “This is the last day of ‘this’… “
Then I thought, “Ah, ‘last day’ means tomorrow is a new day — a new [...] (Source: The Dessert Years . . . (the sequel))

- or so they say. Actually they say ‘if life hands you lemons, make lemonade’. But you have to work with what you got.
Of course the point of the saying is that when something seemingly bad happens, you should try to find some way to make good use of it.
And that is true, many times things don’t turn out the way we wanted but in the end we find something in the situation that isn’t so bad. If fact sometimes we end up with something better than the thing we originally wanted.
Like in Office Space when the one guy backs out of his driveway, gets hit by a car and is severely injured and ends up getting a bunch of money from it and becomes rich.
Certainly my career hasn’t turned out the way I had planned or had wanted it to. On the other hand, now I’m ab...

Now and then we all need to reevaluate where we are in life and figure out what we need to do next. Its easy to get caught up in the details and the smaller goals that we have set for ourselves along the way and lose track of what it was we were trying to accomplish to begin with.
This weekend I found myself at one of these crossroads again and didn’t know which road to take. I felt overwhelmed with all the choices.
I had to remind myself what it was that I really wanted to achieve so that I could put everything into perspective again.
When I do this I always put health at the top of the list - I know that if I’m not keeping myself as healthy as I can I won’t be successful with the goals I’ve set for myself.
So what does keeping healthy consist of? I always brea...

Color and Shape Presentations with More than Words

Visualize a presentation that piques your curiosity … and you’ll not likely come up with a lecture or even a staff meeting you've attended lately. Why is this? Interestingly, your unique spatial intelligence to solve problems craves art and shapes along with colors that connect to meanings – and that’s why words alone can bore you. Not surprisingly, when we graft in images or icons to presentations, we also appeal to an audiences’ multiple intelligences. How so? Here are 8 strategies that add visuals to presentations - in ways that engage participants’ full mix of intelligences: 1. Place a unique art piece on display or in a slide and invite people to share with the person next to them. Ask... &ld...

Are You Confident Enough to be Simple?

Drew McLellan asked a compelling question over at Drew’s Marketing Minute…Are you confident enough to be simple? Drew suggests that people are “afraid the audience won’t get it." Then he added that this fear … “speaks volumes – but not about the audience.” Interestingly, fear adds cortisol that zaps confidence needed for simplicity. To communicate simply, though, takes mental steps – that tend to come mainly to communicators who target clarity and interactive exchanges with participants. So why is confidence involved? Here are 5 areas where confidence segues into simplicity:1. Replace jargon with words more familiar to a wider mix of people. I like to play with words in ways that people will have fun “trying on&rd...
