Apparently so.
Following an extensive remodel, the Penthouse Club in Tampa, Fla., is finally ready for next summer’s Republican National Convention. Club operator DeWayne Levesque has installed two secluded VIP sections, which he hopes will help his club attract a bigger share of the 50,000 visitors expected to descend upon the city on Aug. 27 for four days of conservative politics and liberal partying. In addition to the club’s new carpets and furniture, the private rooms are designed to provide cover so that camera-shy donors, politicians and aides can enjoy the strippers without fear of getting caught, he said.
A few blocks from the Penthouse Club, another strip club owner, Joe Redner, said he has high hopes for what the convention means for business at his a...

According to the latest CNN Poll.
The survey, released Monday, indicates that 27 percent of Republicans nationwide support Perry for their party’s nomination, with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who’s making his second bid for the White House, at 14 percent. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin follows at ten percent, with Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at nine percent, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, who’s making his third bid for the presidency, at six percent. Every one else listed on the questionnaire registered in the low single digits.

Another national poll, like Gallup, last week that shows Texas Governor Rick Perry as the front-runner.
The momentum has been clear and it is all P...

According to the latest PPP Poll.

Rick Perry 17%
Mitt Romney 17%
Michele Bachmann 9%
Sarah Palin 17%
Ron Paul 7%
Herman Cain 11%
Newt Gingrich 10%
Tim Pawlenty 2%
Jon Huntsman 1%

With Sarah Palin out of the race:

Mitt Romney 16%
Rick Perry 17%
Michele Bachmann 17%
Newt Gingrich 11%
Ron Paul 11%
Tim Pawlenty 4%
Herman Cain 9%
Jon Huntsman 2%

Another good initial poll for Texas Governor Rick Perry. It looks like he goes into North Carolina in a very good position with both Bachmann and Romney fading in the most recent polls.
Only two days into the race and in North Carolina, Rick Perry can be considered a co-front runner. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

A movie poster advertising the Sarah Palin documentary “The Undefeated” is seen at the film’s premiere in Pella, Iowa June 28, 2011. The documentary traces Palin’s rise from mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, to state governor and her rise as the Republican vice presidential nominee and John McCain’s running mate in 2008
It is not as if Sarah will announce her candidacy for President or anything.
In the latest indication that her sights are still set on a presidential run, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has accepted an invitation to keynote a Tea Party rally in Waukee, Iowa, on Sept. 3, RealClearPolitics has learned.
The Labor Day weekend visit to the nation’s first voting state comes after Palin indicated during an appearance on Fox News earlier this month ...

By David BoazSomeone called Stephen Metcalf writes at Slate of his horror at finding in “an otherwise quite groovy loft” in New York’s SoHo “not one but two copies of something called The Libertarian Reader.” Given that he manages to lump not just Paul Ryan and South Park but Sarah Palin into the libertarian basket, you can appreciate his dismay.
Metcalf puts Robert Nozick at the center of his argument, understandably enough. My colleague Tom Palmer says that academic critics almost always cite one chapter of one book, Nozick’s Anarchy, State, and Utopia, and declare that they have grappled with libertarian ideas. Still, it’s a good book and worth grappling with, and it did have an impact, as Metcalf notes:

By Justin LoganThat’s the argument Ben Friedman and I made in our “Think Again” piece for Foreign Policy magazine. Our point there was that someone reading newspapers and watching television would think that Secretary Gates was some sort of transformational figure who took hold of a boneheaded grand strategy, two failing wars, and one broken bureaucracy and made them into successes. We argued that this description, which one finds almost everywhere one finds the secretary’s name, is wrong. (For responses to some of the critiques of our piece, Ben has a post up at The Skeptics.)

Over the weekend Dana Milbank authored a column demonstrating the tendency to represent Gates as something of a messiah. He does so by juxtaposing…Sarah Pa...

Why I’m Boycotting PolitiFact

By Michael F. CannonReporters at PolitiFact.com have used me as a resource half a dozen times or so when fact-checking something someone said about health care reform. Sometimes we disagree about where the truth lies, but I’ve always been happy to help. That changed recently, and I should let PolitiFact’s reporters know why.
At the end of each year, PolitiFact sifts through the many claims its reporters have deemed untrue and selects one to be their Lie of the Year. The Lie of the Year award is easily PolitiFact’s biggest publicity-generator. In 2009, they picked Sarah Palin’s “death panels” claim. In 2010, they picked the claim that the new health care law is a “government takeover” of health care.
Looking at those two Lies of the Year together brought a couple of things h...

By Michael F. CannonIt would appear that I am the Liar of the Year.
The fact-checking journalists at PolitiFact.com gave their 2010 Lie of the Year award to the notion that ObamaCare is “a government takeover of health care,” and in 2009 gave the same award to Sarah Palin’s “death panels” claim. But as I explain in my latest column for Kaiser Health News, the fact-checkers left out a few facts. Read the column to find out what PolitiFact missed. Here’s my conclusion:
From my vantage point, the evidence shows that ObamaCare is a government takeover of health care, and Sarah Palin’s “death panels” claim was essentially true. If that makes me Liar of the Year, so be it.
But another way to look at it is this: PolitiFact has now misap...

Sarah will be speaking to New York business leaders on Long Island, February 17, 2011.
Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin has agreed to a high-profile speaking engagement to New York business leaders on Long Island next month.
Palin will speak to the Long Island Association on February 17 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York, the group confirmed Friday.
Palin is also giving two paid speeches in Nevada at the end of January and is scheduled to speak Jan. 24 at a closed-press fundraiser for the Lubbock Christian School in Lubbock, Texas.
Wonder if Sarah will be meeting with Rudy Giuliani, if he is in town? (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)

Now, this is interesting and I have not heard from any of Rudy’s 2008 campaign people about a Presidential race by the Mayor. But, maybe he is lying low, unlike the last time.
On Monday’s hour-long “Piers Morgan Tonight” interview, Rudy Giuliani tells Piers Morgan he’s more likely to run if Sarah Palin runs in 2012. “The more Republicans in which I can show a contrast…the better chance that I have,” he said, describing himself as a moderate.

Case in point: during the past weekend, I finally had the opportunity to see The King’s Speech, which my own grandmother watched and wrote me about . . . last year.
As a sort of New Year’s resolution, I’m attempting to be a bit more up-to-date on this front, and, thus, I’m going to dedicate this blog post to a film that hasn’t even been released yet, but that should be of interest to Situationist readers.
What caught my attention about the preview for the film was that it seemed as if it could easily be modified into a Sarah Palin 2012 political advertisement.
In the opening frames, we watch Senate candidate David Norris (Matt Damon) as he first crosses paths with the ballet dancer Elise Sellas...

Situationist Contributors Adam Benforado and Jon Hanson have written extensively about a dynamic they call “naive cynicism.”
Their work explores how dispositionism maintains its dominance despite the fact that it misses so much of what actually moves us. It argues that the answer lies in a subordinate dynamic and discourse, naive cynicism: the basic subconscious mechanism by which dispositionists discredit and dismiss situationist insights and their proponents. Without it, the dominant person schema – dispositionism – would be far more vulnerable to challenge and change, and the more accurate person schema – situationism – less easily and effectively attacked. Naive cynicism is thus critically important to explaining how and why certain legal policies manage to carry the da...

Gun control activists are not just concerned about the criminally insane having guns. (Such diagnoses are too often only made after a shoot-’em-up anyway!)
By Diana J. Mason, PhD, RN. I was quite distressed to read in this morning’s news that the Obama Administration had reversed the new Medicare regulation that would pay for periodic conversations between physicians and patients about preferences for end-of-life care. According to today’s New York Times, Speaker John Boehner said that “the provision could be a step ‘down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia.’”
Sara Palin started this rhetorical myth when she declared efforts to incorporate paying for such conversations under Medicare in the House health care reform bill (not included in the final law) as creating “death panels”. This lie is undermining advances that advocates for better end-of-life care have worked on ...

My new post on Politics Daily / Woman Up. GOP’s Rural White Guys: The Night They Drove New Dixie Down.
Republicans are busting with pride about the parade of rural white men who voted overwhelmingly for their candidates in last week’s midterm elections. And not just on the national level. You have to go back to 1966 to find the same number of state legislature switches. You have to go back to 1928 to find this many state legislature seats filled with Republicans.
That fact alone could ripple for years to come, due to the potential for partisan gerrymandering (fun fact: so named for the salamander-shaped district designed by a Gov. Gerry in 1812 Massachusetts). Representative districts are redrawn once a dec...

OK, the election’s over, and the message from most voters was that they didn’t care much for President Obama’s agenda. Now the focus is on the race for the presidency in 2012.
On the Republican side, it’s a dead heat between the ex-governors – Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Mike Huckabee of Arkansas and Sarah Palin of Alaska, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely GOP Primary voters.

The GOP establishment has taken a drubbing in this last primary season in Utah, Delaware, Alaska and Florida.
But, as Sarah Palin, the titular head of the Republican Party sans John McCain says, it is now time for CHOOSING.
A time to choose and which is liable to become the biggest Tea Party ever at the November Midterm Congressional elections.

My new post on Politics Daily / Woman Up. From a Lefty: Five Things the Right Is Doing Right.
For nearly two years, the Democrats have controlled the House, the Senate, the presidency and two new judicial appointments to the Supreme Court.
So why does it feel like the Democrats lost in 2008?
I think it’s because the Democrats have turned losing into an art form. You know how they say a good dancer makes it look easy? That’s the Dems. They make winning look like losing, and losing look like the eternal hell-fires of damnation.
The left could learn a few things from the right. To wit:
1) The right talks to average people.
Even unabashed progressive Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) thought that it was smart to talk to the people. He even went to a Tea Party to see what the fuss was a...

My new post on Politics Daily / Woman Up. Abortion, Sarah Palin and Feminism: They’re Complicated.
Ah, carry me back to old 1960s. Women’s lib, as many of us called feminism back then, divided women along the same fault lines that divide us today.
Decades ago a friend said to me: “I always thought liberation meant the freedom to do what you wanted with your life, even if that was stay home with your children.”
Pretty good definition, and it just about summarizes the abortion debate. Freedom to become a mother or not. Freedom to be born or not. When those two freedoms are in direct opposition, whose freedom should be honored?
The baby’s, says Sarah Palin. “You thought pit bulls are tough,” Palin said at a recent Susan B. Anthony List breakfast. &#82...

By David BoazState Rep. Raul Labrador walloped Republican establishment favorite Vaughn Ward in Idaho’s 1st District congressional primary. Idaho native Sarah Palin campaigned for Ward, who had worked in the McCain presidential campaign in 2008. Labrador drew strong support from Tea Party activists. According to Politico, “Ward’s defeat also came despite his high-profile support from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who did more to assist Ward than she did for almost any other House candidate. Last Friday, she headlined a rally and fundraiser for Ward, and her parents and in-laws were supporters of Ward’s campaign.”
Lots of Republican incumbents lost their legislative seats, too, suggesting the continuing power of Tea Party activism and general populist unrest. (Sourc...

By Gene HealyMy Washington Examiner column this week begins with a look back at the Disco Era:

In his high school yearbook photo, President Barack Obama sports a white leisure suit and a Travolta-esque collar whose wingspan could put a bystander’s eye out. Hey, it was 1979.
Maybe that explains the rest of young Barry’s yearbook page, with its “still life” featuring a pack of rolling papers and a shout-out to the “Choom gang.” (“Chooming” is Hawaiian slang for smoking pot.)
Survey data suggest some 100 million Americans have tried pot, including political elites and drug war supporters Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin. So the point here isn’t to play “gotcha” by calling the president out on some harmless fun ...

By David BoazSarah Palin has endorsed Carly Fiorina for U.S. Senate in California, showing commendable charity toward a woman who gave her one of her many Bad Headline Days in September 2008 by telling an interviewer that Palin wouldn’t be qualified to run a major company. (Fiorina did add, “But you know what? That’s not what she’s running for.”)
Palin is way off base, though, when she writes:
I support Carly as she fights through a tough primary against a liberal member of the GOP who seems to bear almost no difference to Boxer, one of the most leftwing members of the Senate.
Ignoring conservative Chuck DeVore, who probably has the support of a lot of Palin fans, Palin is taking aim at frontrunning former congressman Tom Campbell. But if her aim was that far ...

By Michael F. CannonA correspondent for The Economist, whose initials are M.S., posts this on the Democracy in America blog:
[T]he new health-care-reform law passed in March is an entirely private-insurer, free-market-based reform. If someone were to refer to it as a “government takeover of the health-care sector”, that person would hold a factually incorrect ideological belief.
I wonder what convinced M.S. that the new health care law is an entirely free-market-based reform. Was it the expansion of the government’s Medicaid program to another 16 million Americans? Was it the 19-million-plus other Americans who will receive government subsidies to purchase private health insurance? Was it the new price controls that the law imposes on health insurance? Or the price ...

By Michael F. CannonAs the nation contemplates the new health care entitlements that Congress and President Obama just created, it is worth noting an article in today’s Washington Post, which reports on the performance of past efforts to eliminate fraud in another health care entitlement:
More than a decade ago, Congress set out to squeeze the fraud out of Medicare billing at nursing homes, requiring more precise justifications for costs. It created new “ultra-high” billing categories intended to be used for only 5 percent of the patients needing highly specialized care and rehabilitation.
But within a few years, nursing homes flooded the ultra-high categories with patients, contributing to $542 million a year in potential overpayments, federal analysts found.

My response:
To complete Norman Podhoretz’s thought in this morning’s Wall Street Journal, “I knew Ron Reagan. Ron Reagan was a friend of mine. Governor Palin, you’re no Ron Reagan — but I like you all the same.” And that distinguishes Podhoretz from those “conservative intellectuals” whose antipathy to Sarah Palin and “the loathsome Tea Party rabble” is ultimately explained, he believes, by “the same species of class bias that Mrs. Palin provokes in her enemies and her admirers.”

By Doug BandowThe U.S. remains stuck in Iraq, as the country moves toward a potentially messy and not so democratic (lots of disqualified parliamentary candidates, etc.) election. Iran’s refusal to back away from its nuclear program has intensified calls for an American military strike — which, Sarah Palin assures, would even help the president politically. North Korea unsurprisingly is showing reluctance to rejoin international talks over its nuclear program: renewed proposals for a U.S. military build-up in South Korea and even war against the North are likely to follow. And then there is Afghanistan.
Even though President Barack Obama talks about deadlines and drawdowns, there is little in present policy to suggest that the U.S. will be able to leave Afghanistan in eve...

By David BoazThe AP reports:
In a land dispute pitting Madonna against African villagers, Malawi’s government has sided with the pop star who has pumped millions into the impoverished Southern African country and adopted two of its children.
Villagers have been refusing to move from a plot of land near the capital, Lilongwe, where Madonna wants to build a $15-million school for girls. The government, however, says it had originally planned to develop the plot, and only allowed the villagers to live there until a project was identified.
Lilongwe District Commissioner Charles Kalemba, accompanied by other government officials and representatives from Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity, on Thursday met with about 200 villagers and told them they would have to move. The villagers hav...

My new post on Politics Daily / Woman Up:
Bruce Springsteen in Spain, July 2009

Vanna White, the pleasant letter-turner on the game show Wheel of Fortune, was wildly popular in the mid-1980s.
Some surmised that Vanna’s appeal stemmed not from her blondness, but rather her blandness. Viewers saw either a girl next door or an irresistible, slightly dangerous hottie, depending on what they wanted to see.
So my suggestion for 2012 presidential candidate is: Bruuuuuuce!
Yes, Mr. Springsteen. The singer. Well, why not?
Since our elections are about symbolism, good looks, personality, body language and the voter’s ability to project on to a candidate the promise of their unspoken desires and redemption of their broken dreams, why not Bruce?

I didn't think he knew how to pronounce it.(Link) You know, if Sarah Palin were as good as creating genuine inspirational excitement as she is at causing unintentional hilarity at her own expense... but in fact, this is Sarah Palin.Smarting from criticism that holding events on military bases gave the impression that she was less than courageous in the face of the media Palin set out to hold a book signing where anyone, of whatever rank or station would feel welcome. Or, so it would appear. Of course, as you may have come to realize over the past decade of experience with such people, the appearance and the reality are usual...

By Roger PilonPolitico asks, “Was he convincing?”
My response:
In Copenhagen this morning, President Obama convinced only those who want to believe — of which, regrettably, there is no shortage. Notice how he began, utterly without doubt: “You would not be here unless you, like me, were convinced that this danger is real. This is not fiction, this is science.” The implicit certitude is no part of real science, of course. But then the president, like the environmental zealots cheering him in Copenhagen, are not really interested in real science. Theirs, ultimately, is a political agenda. How else to explain the corruption of science that the East Anglia Climate Research email scandal has brought to light, and the efforts, presently, to dismiss the s...

By David BoazCould it be the Washington Post? Bannered across the top of the Post’s op-ed page today is a piece titled “Copenhagen’s political science,” titularly authored by Sarah Palin. I’m delighted to see the Post publishing an op-ed critical of the questionable science behind the Copenhagen conference and the demands for massive regulations to deal with “climate change.”
But Sarah Palin? Of all the experts and political leaders a great newspaper might call on for a critical look at the science behind global warming, Sarah Palin?
What’s even more interesting is that the Post also ran an op-ed by Palin in July. But during this entire year, the Post has not run any op-eds by such credible and accomplished Republicans as Gov. Mitch Daniels; ...

Day By Day by Chris Muir
Sarah Palin WILL be a threat to a second Obama presidential term if the economy does NOT precipitiously turn around by a year from now. If the economy remains in the tank, the Congress will change so dramatically in the midterm November 2010 Congressional elections REAL opposition to Obama’s far left policies will emerge.
With regard to Obama’s foreign policy, there really is only one word for it: DITHERING.And, the pundits are already compaing him to Jimmy Carter and LBJ.
The last time we had a staggering economy and a misdirected foreign policy was in 1980 and we know what happened in that election.

Halloween. What an annoying time of year. There are the innocent children dressed by their overzealous parents in costumes ranging from silly to sexy, harassing me for candy and invading my personal home space. Then there are the people decorating their yards with scary ghosts, goblins, and dead dummies, making it virtually impossible for me to take my three year-old daughter on a nice stroll through our usually unassuming neighborhood without freaking her out.
I’m more aggravated though about how some political circles have spooked the health reform debate. It’s a perfect horror movie with serial killers of anything Obama, scare tactics aimed to torment and take advantage of citizens who are vulnerable and unlearned about a complex issue, and gangbangers of a majority party un...

Parents who believe that their strong religious beliefs and raising their children in the church will prevent teen pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases may be surprised to learn that teen-age pregnancies are highest among the more religious states in the United States.
Of course, who can forget failed vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her teen daughter, Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Here was a very in-your-face conservative who doesn’t want sex education in the schools, who believed that raising your child “right” and with God would keep her from getting pregnant – and her daughter became pregnant. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican Nominee for Vice President and Republican Alaska Governor has endorsed Conservative Party Doug Hoffman over the Republican Dede Scozzafava in the special election for New York’s 23rd congressional district.
Here is Palin’s statement:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.
The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it’s important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York&#...

“Instead of poll-driven ’solutions,’ let’s talk about real health-care reform: market-oriented, patient-centered, and result-driven,” wrote Palin. “As the Cato Institute’s Michael Cannon and others have argued, such policies include giving all individuals the same tax benefits received by those who get coverage through their employers; providing Medicare recipients with vouchers that allow them to purchase their own coverage; reforming tort laws to potentially save billions each years in wasteful spending; a...

Palin’s claim was a tad hyperbolic, but that does not change the fact that — as I explain in the Detroit Free Press — President Obama has proposed a new government panel that would enhance Medicare’s ability to deny care to the elderly and disabled based on government bureaucrats’ arbitrary valuations of those patients’ lives. I asked myself what kind of person would ask liberal Apple devotees to turn their backs on Steve Jobs and his empire. The request is creepy and weird.
Sarah Palin is out as Governor of Alaksa as she resigns today.
Sarah Palin stepped down Sunday as Alaska governor to write a book and build a right-of-center coalition, but she left her long-term political plans unclear and refused to address speculation she would seek a 2012 presidential bid.
In a fiery campaign-style speech, Palin said she was stepping down to take her political battles to a larger if unspecified stage and avoid an unproductive, lame duck status.
“With this decision, now, I will be able to fight even harder for you, for what is right, and for truth. And I have never felt that you need a title to do that,” Palin said to raucous applause from about 5,000 people gathered at Pioneer Park in downtown Fairbanks.
Her first order of business as a private citizen is t...

Day By Day by Chris Muir
I remember when Richard Nixon quit after losing the Californor Governorship in 1962 to Jerry Brown’s father and HE came back to win the Presidency in 1968.
I, also, remember when Nixon came back after resigning the Presidency after the Watergate scandal to be considered a prominent statesmen – even though a crook.
The American people have a long history of forgiving politicians over time – except in cases of personal scandal like Gary Hart or Mark Sanford.
So, who knows, when and how Sarah Palin re-emerges on the national political scene. Flap knows one thing: there is money to be made on her celebrity status and that opportunity will NOT be lost.

The AP has this late story on how Sarah Palin delivered a message to her half a million plus friends on Facebook briefly outlining what is ahead in her political future.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin didn’t wait long to give some hint of what her political life might look like after she leaves office at the end of the month.
After staying out of the public eye for most of Saturday, a day after abruptly announcing she would soon give up her job as governor, Palin indicated on a social networking site that she would take on a larger, national role, citing a “higher calling” to ...

Congratulations Jan and Damon on your engagement!
This Middle Class Proposal is much like the Sarah Palin gambit of resigning from the Alaska governorship and going on a conservative offensive.
There is no doubt that had she stayed as Alaska Governor that the LEFT would have beat her senseless with countless ethics probes and trumped up BS outrages.
Now, Palin can go on th attack, make some money for her family and become a leader of the Republican Party AND the American Conservative movement.
The Palin attacks from the RIGHT have been coming from Team Romney. I wonder if Palin decides to cede the 2012 ground and support someone else or stay neutral?

David Letterman defends his jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughters in a seven minute segment above, June 10, 2009
Perhaps.
Sarah Palin would no doubt be horrified by the idea, but there’s a chance she could become the same boon to David Letterman’s career that Hugh Grant was to Jay Leno’s.
Grant’s 1995 appearance on NBC’s “Tonight” show after a prostitution arrest, where Leno famously asked “what were you thinking?,” was seen in retrospect as a turning point in the late-night race. It drew a huge audience and propelled Leno to the top of the ratings, a spot he would not relinquish.
Letterman did not court last week’s battle with Palin, who called him “perverted” for making a joke about her daughter getting “kn...

The Sarah Palin – David Letterman Flap continues with Palin calling for Letterman to offer up an apology to women.
Sarah Palin says David Letterman owes an apology to young women across the country for his joke about her daughter.
The Alaska governor appeared on NBC’s “Today” show Friday, continuing a feud with the CBS “Late Show” funnyman over his joke earlier this week that Palin’s daughter got “knocked up” by New York Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez during their recent trip to New York.
Palin also said she doesn’t believe she should be automatically considered the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
Asked by Matt Lauer whether Letterman owed her daughter an apology, the ...

Remember when they used to ridicule Ronald Reagan before his performance made him an American hero?
Sarah Palin went on the offensive today with an interview on NBC’s Today Show. Watch below and wonder who has come out ahead in this flap?

Another Sarah Palin BS Alaska Ethics complaint has been dismissed today.
An attorney hired by the state personnel board has dismissed an ethics complaint claiming that Gov. Sarah Palin’s role in the political action committee SarahPAC poses a conflict with her official duties as governor.

NBC News and MSNBC have devolved from journalists into despicable character assassins. Readers of SHS and others will recall the fraudulent story pushed by the Left Web site the Daily Kos. Someone doctored a photo of the Palin family taken in 2006, and claimed it was from early 2008. Because Bristol Palin, the Palins' oldest daughter, had a small tummy, the Kos claimed she was pregnant at the time and hence, the real mother of Trig Palin. This despicable lie was actually chased by MSM journalists with the tongues hanging out until it became clear that it was bogus. Vanity Fair even insinuated, in the guise of satire, that Todd Palin was not Trigg's father after the Bristol story fell apart. Meanwhile, despite the NYT knocking it down eventually, blogger Andrew Sullivan, as far as I know, ne...

Sarah Palin Strikes Back Against The Media - Think You Have Heard the Last From Her?

In an lengthy interview for the forthcoming documentary “Media Malpractice” Governor Sarah Palin, for the first time at length, takes on the media coverage of her and the 2008 campaign
Flap is amazed at the negative BUZZ that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin continues to draw in the “Drive-by Media” and in the LEFT blogosphere.
A little more experience in public office, especially in foreign affairs and watch out. Flap sees 2008 for Palin as Reagan’s 1976 run against Gerald Ford - pre-emptive.
Sarah Palin will re-emerge on the national political stage sooner than the Democrats like to admit.

The Women’s Rights blog over at Change.org has a post about the Top 10 Moments of Feminism in 2008. The selection of Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, as Senator John McCain’s running mate sparked (I guess that’s an understatement) lots of discussion in general, and certainly in the autism and disability community, and in particular regarding Palin’s baby son Trig, who has Down Syndrome. Would you consider the choice of Sarah Palin, special needs mother, as a Top 10 Moment in the annals of special needs families in 2008?

In her concession speech, Hillary Clinton dedicated her gratitude “to the moms and dads who came to our events, who lifted their little girls and little boys on their shoulders and whispered in their ears, ‘See, you can be anything you want to be.’”
Yet given the scrutiny dedicated to her pantsuits, Hillary’s vision of possibility seems limited. Indeed, a new study by researchers led by Northwestern University’s Joan Y. Chiao and just published on October 31 found that while men...

This is the last week of classes at the college where I teach; after finals, spring semester does not start till mid-January. It’ll be good not to have to rush around so much and to work more around home, and, certainly, not to have to hurry home on the highway to meet Charlie’s schoolbus.
It does occur to me that, if I didn’t work, I could spare us a certain amount of anxiety: What to do when Charlie is sick? What to do if there’s an early morning meeting to attend or one in the later afternoon? What I do at work—-teaching Latin and ancient Greek and some administrative and advising duties—has little (obvious) relevance to what Charlie is learning and to what he needs.
Some years ago, I thought seriously about becoming an autism teacher, so I’d be...

I have long held that much of the irrational hatred directed at Sarah Palin--not political opposition, but the hatred--is because she dared to knowingly give birth to a baby with Down syndrome. This suspicion is heightened by this disgusting blog entry by the Wonkette blog discussing a picture of Trig held by his sister, dressed as an elephant for Halloween. It reads: Little baby Trig must be so glad he wasn't aborted for this, his first Halloween, because his parents dressed him up like a political party symbol to be carried around at snarling political events. Aww. Isn't life just grand? The hatred is so thick you can cut it with a knife. And so is the bigotry. Ditto, the comments. (Source: Secondhand Smoke)

So maybe it had to do with finding myself driving through a most unexpected (in New Jersey) October snowfall to take Charlie to a medical appointment (the dentist, to be more precise) on a cold mid-afternoon on Tuesday—-but as I glanced at him in the rear view mirror, a strong sense of déja-vu came into my mind. I was driving down a wide avenue on a snowy afternoon, gray sky, and strapped in the middle of the backseat, in his carseat, was my little boy and there was something wrong with or inside of him and no one seemed to know what, or to be able to say what, and not the kindly pediatrician we’d just seen for the nth time……
I was remembering the late late fall days of 1998. We were living in St. Paul, Minnesota, then (I was a newly hired classics professor here) ...

YOU BETCHA
Unless there is a skeleton in the closet that someone has not VETTED about Sarah Palin, Flap sees a clear path to the GOP Presidential nomination in 2012. (Assuming that John McCain either does not win next Tuesday or wins and decides NOT to run for re-election)
Who will be her rivals?
Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee? Both retreads from this year’s cycle?
Tim Pawlenty and Haley Barbour? Newcomers on the national Presidential scene with ONLY regional appeal?
The early GOP primaries are a fit for Sarah Palin: Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. The other candidates would divide up the vo...

Sarah Palin today has followed up her attack on fruit fly research by condemning much of the NIH Budget and a variety of other scientific earmarks. At a town hall meeting yesterday while campaigning in Guam, Palin said"We asked federal agencies to give us a summary of key words relating to research projects and we found an enormous number of them focused on homosapiens. I kid you not."When asked by a teenage audience member to explain what was wrong with this research Palin said"You probably are a homosapiens no? Or have many friends that are? What we need to do is spend money on helping people change and not on studying these homosapiens"The teen tried to respond but was escorted forcefully out of the hall by security while Palin continued on in her meeting. At the end of the meeti...

From the October 23rd The Swamp, the Chicago Tribune’s Washington Bureau, is the transcript of an interview with Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president. Here’s some of what she said about families of children with special needs (Palin is to give a speech today in Pittsburgh—her first on policy—about special needs children):
“the federal government can play a very appropriate role in making this country a more welcoming country to those children with special needs to really make manifest our commitment to these children to provide them with equal opportunity with education, equal opportunity as they grow up to good employment and a chance to contribute and be quite productive and fulfill, and I think we can do a better job than where we’ve...

A commenter under the moniker of “Rainmanretired” posted this about the Q & A on autism and what John McCain said that was posted on Newsweek yesterday:
Kristina said she knew nothing about autism before she had a son with it, I was wondering just how she expected John McCain to know all about it? No he probably doesn’t know what all the differents’s are between all the different things that effect children BUT he wants to help ALL not just autism children. …….
I thought of this very question as I was talking during the interview about how I indeed “knew nothing about autism” before my son was diagnosed. I had barely heard, let alone thought of, the word “autism” before daycare teachers and an “evaluator” let the w...

Governor Sarah Palin wants “to talk to Americans without the filter” of the “media elite.” As she explained in the vice-presidential debate, she aims to cut out the middleman in conveying information to the public: “I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you [Senator Joe Biden] want to hear, but I’m going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also.”
Those statements reflect a radical challenge to our American system: the elimination of an institution—the press—that has traditionally been championed as a vital check on the abuse of power and distortion of the truth by politicians. In the words of the late Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, historically, “[t]he free press meant organized, expert scrutiny ...

Spotlight on Autism: The mother of an autistic son reacts to John McCain’s recent pledge to help families like hers. Was it just rhetoric?
More about McCain’s comments about autism in the debate last week here.

Palin has experience with special needs kids, says an October 16th Associated Press article which I discussed some in the previous post. Says the Associated Press:
Sarah Palin is frequently seen at campaign stops cradling her infant son Trig, who has Down syndrome. Her decision to give birth to Trig even after learning her fifth child would have the condition has burnished her anti-abortion views with conservatives.
So viewers of Wednesday night’s presidential debate might have been somewhat taken aback when John McCain said his running mate understands “what it’s like to have an autistic child.”
Palin, it’s noted “does have a 13-year-old nephew with autism”: Karcher is the son of her sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Kurt Bruce and the family...

Nothing, nothing is too low to do to Sarah Palin. Larry Flynt has apparently made a porn movie with a Sarah Palin look alike. Can you imagine the justified STINK that would be raised if this were done with a Barack Obama look alike? The foulness is beyond belief. And a Daily News columnist (the newspaper reporting this story) says McCain has to do more to separate himself from extremists! Funny: This story has been out since the 6th and I haven't heard any condemnation from the Obama camp yet. (Source: Secondhand Smoke)

Disability historian Paul Longmore writes about Sarah Palin as “talking about special needs children” and Obama as having substantive plans for all people with disabilities” in the October 3rd Huffington Post:
Even though 90% of the 54 Americans with disabilities are adults, Palin, John McCain, and the news media have talked almost exclusively about children. And that talk has been mostly about “compassion” not “issues.” The McCain-Palin campaign website has a single page on “Americans with Disabilities for McCain,” but it says nothing about policy positions. Other pages mention autism and disabled veterans but no other issues.
In contrast, Barack Obama and Joe Biden have said little on the campaign trail about disability issues but th...

I am sure that Sarah Palin's feelings are very hurt that the total animal rights crackpot Brigitte Bardot doesn't like her and calls here a disgrace to women. From the story:"By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe," wrote Bardot. The screen icon from the 1960s, who now heads an animal rights foundation, went on to assail Palin for supporting Arctic oil exploration that could jeopardize delicate animal habitats and for dismissing measures to protect polar bears. "This shows your total lack of responsibility, your inability to protect or simply respect animal life," Bardot wrote.Well, as Govern...

From the story:"If Sarah Palin isn't enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida said at a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats Wednesday. Hastings, who is African-American, was explaining what he intended to tell his Jewish constituents about the presidential race. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.
Howard Kurtz, who has the media beat for the Washington Post (and who I know; nice guy), says the media are getting angry about the McCain/Palin campaign. "Getting?" He says it is because the rucus made about pigs and lipstick. Baloney. As I have noted here at SHS, I think they have been over the moon since day one of A.P (after Palin)!I think there are two primary reasons for this, one of which we have explored thoroughly, and one which is mostly beyond our scope here. First, Palin is viewed as "the other," symbolized by her and Todd's loving acceptance of Trig, a matter we have discussed at length. Second, she is clearly helping the McCain campaign, and I think it is fair to say most MSM are liberals who want Senator Obama to become President Obama. I'll leave the discussions of that asp...

This story was brought to my attention by "greg" in the comments to a previous post, which I appreciate, and I comment about here because it is worth more prominent notice: A Globe and Mail (Canada's national newspaper) story reports that Andre Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, bemoans the example the Palins set by giving birth to Trig because it might reduce eugenic abortion. From the story:But others fear Ms. Palin's emergence as a parental role model sends a different message. As a vocal opponent of abortion, Ms. Palin's widely discussed decision to keep her baby, knowing he would be born with the condition, may inadvertently influence other women who may lack the necessary emotional and financial support to do the same, acco...

I continue to be amazed at the unvarnished vitriol aimed at Sarah Palin. In Salon today, not a fringe publication, the "popular culture" writer Cintra Wilson launches a demagogic diatribe--complete with Viagra jokes and which uses the f-word--that is so over the top it is past Jupiter. And yes, the temerity of the Palins to have Trig is a focus. Wilson writes:Sarah Palin is a bit comical, like one of those cutthroat Texas cheerleader stage moms. What her Down syndrome baby and pregnant teenage daughter unequivocally prove, however, is that her most beloved child is the antiabortion platform that ensures her own political ambitions with the conservative right. The throat she's so hot to cut is that of all American women. In other words, SHE DIDN'T ABORT! I HATE HER!Wilson continues with mor...

Dumb move: Senator Joe Biden has implied that Sarah Palin doesn't care as much as he does about special needs children because she does not support embryonic stem cell research. From the story: "I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy...and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect," he said. "Well, guess what folks? If you care about it, why don't you support stem cell research?"The Obama campaign denied that Biden's barb was aimed at Sarah Palin, but who else gave a speech mentioning special needs kids in the last two weeks? The McCain campaign struck back: "Barack Obama's running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more...

Never has a vice presidential selection caused such a firestorm of con and pro--or generated what can only be called hatred in some of her opponents. The conservative columnist Mona Charen thinks, as I do, that a lot of this is about Trig: From her column:Something about Sarah Palin set them [the MSM] off before their own politically correct impulses ("Must Avoid Sexism") could inhibit them. By the ferocity of the response, you might have thought Palin was a secret member of a polygamous cult or had forced her daughter to give birth after a rape. But no, she was just the mother of five, hunting, fishing, NRA member, and governor.I wonder if it was that baby. However, nothing stays static and the media hurricane over Sarah Palin is heading in a new direction, away from the baby and Bristol P...

Despite a brief and welcomed respite from the NYT, the MSM's obsessive attacks on Sarah Palin and her family continue. The latest is from Vanity Fair, which in the guise of humor, demonstrates their editors unconscionable snobbery and inability to accept differences in lifestyle, as in big family, religious, church-going, pro lifers who gave birth to a Down baby. Readers even get to vote whether Sarah or Bristol Palin is the real mother of Trig! The premise is a purported timeline of Trig's birth. From the story:August 2007: Trig is conceived...during a queaky clean conjugal roll in the snow [or]during an illicit adolescent romp, OR as the National Equirer is allegedly preparing to report, a tryst between the Governor and her husband's colleague. The National Enquirer isn't planning to repo...

Without Trig, Governor Sarah Palin’s infant son who has Down Syndrome, what might discussions about her being Senator John McCain’s running mate be like?
Gov. Palin’s older sister, Heather Bruce, has an autistic child, an article in today’s New York Times notes:
Before her son was born, Ms. Palin went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that his arrival would not compromise her work. She hid the pregnancy. She traveled to Texas a month before her due date to give an important speech, delivering it even though her amniotic fluid was leaking. Three days after giving birth, she returned to work.
But with Trig in her arms, Ms. Palin has risen higher than ever. Senator John McCain, the Republican nominee for president, says he selected her as his running mate because of h...

Earlier today I posted that the NYT was planning a front page story on the birth of Trig Palin. I was inclined to expect the worst, but Secondhand Smokette told me to cool my jets until it came out. Good advice as always from Debra. The story is now out--and it is not a hit job--although it feels invasive, particularly when it discusses the reactions of Trig's siblings to his birth. And, the reporter makes a point that Palin is using her motherhood as a political prop in a whole new way; a fair comment, I think, given the "hockey mom" self definition. But I don't think she is using Trig, as the story seems to me to imply. But relevant to the issues we deal with here at SHS, "Fusing Motherhood and Politics in a New Way" casts a warm glow on the Palins' wholehearted embrace of their son.
New York Times Brewing Front Page Story on the Birth of Trig Palin

I have opined here previously--but admitted I can't prove it--that much of the hatred (and love) directed at Sarah Palin has to do the vivid symbolism of the Palins' decision to give birth to Trig, who has Down syndrome. As I see it, this act of unconditional love--in stark contrast to the current zeitgeist in which 90% of such babies are not allowed to be born--personifies many of the emotional and sometimes bitter cultural conflicts that permeate some of the issues we deal with here at SHS. Indeed, I suspect that for some, it is such a burning sore spot, they cannot let it go even if their obsession actually helps the McCain/Palin ticket. As if to prove my hypothesis, the Drudge Report has apparently been leaked a head's-up from the NYT that the paper will soon run a full front page story...

You see, as a total sequence analysis dork, when I see names, I frequently ask whether the letters in the name include only letters which are used as amino acid abbreviations. I started this game when the brilliant notes/letters came out in Science in the early 90s about whether ELVIS was overrepresented in protein sequences. Of course, despite being 20 years old, Science still keeps these under wraps requiring registration to see them (see for example the Stevens letter).Anyway, alas, three of the major candidates for the US election have names that do not use traditional amino acid abbreviations so I am stuck with analyzing Sarah Palin. But that is OK because of her professed aversion to evolution and support to Creationism (and since sequence analysis is inherently an evolutionary study...

Adriaan Lanni and Wesley Kelman wrote an interesting piece in Slate this week, “Working-Class Hero: How the Palins’ enviable blue-collar lifestyle could help the McCain campaign.” Here are a few excerpts.
* * *
Most of the initial reaction to Sarah Palin’s selection . . . threatens to obscure a seductive and misleading subtext in Palin’s biography that may play a key role in the election: the way she embodies the hope of a blue-collar life without economic insecurity.
Palin’s background reminded us of an Alaskan we met several years ago. We had just moved to Anchorage for a temporary job in the state court system and struck up an illuminating conversation with a bricklayer while on a hike outside town. He made a surprising amount of money—he had moved ...

sisu: “If McCain can get the votes of all the women who were pregnant at their weddings, it’ll be a landslide!”
“Sarah is electrifying our party,” Mitt is telling a Fox News anchor…
Sarah definitely has the star quality about her, the sheer charisma, that that other unknown, Dan Quayle, did not. The Executive Branch of our government needs people in it that are leaders above all. That’s the opposite of what W has been doing lately: love him or hate him, the man isn’t a leader. (Source: white pebble)

Before the extent of her effect became clear, I wrote:As I ponder all of this, I think McCain/Palin versus Obama/Biden vividly reflects the cultural divisions that are tearing our society apart more starkly than any election in my memory.I think it is fair to say that subsequent events validated that view--and isn't it interesting how much of this involves bioethical themes, human exceptionalism, and the growth of anti-humanism I have been warning about? That also seems to be Jonathan Last's take over at the First Things blog. Last, who used to edit my Daily Standard pieces, also thinks, as I do, that Trig's birth is a major cause of the bitter antipathy toward Palin we have ...

The National Enquirer has more on the discord over Sarah Palin’s pregnant and unmarried seventeen year old daughter.
Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin attempted to quietly have her daughter Bristol get married before news of her pregnancy leaked out, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its new issue.
Palin planned for the wedding to take place right after the Republican National Convention and then she was going to announce the pregnancy.
But Bristol, 17, refused to go along with the plan and that sparked a mother-daughter showdown over the failed coverup.
Who knows if this story is true or not?
And, who really cares?
There DOES seem to be a concerted effort to drive Sarah Palin off the GOP ticket. If there was anything there there wouldn’t the LEFT...

Yesterday, I excoriated the media for their howling attempt to obliterate Governor Sarah Palin's viability as a candidate for vice president by giving credence to a vicious rumor--an inaccurate term since this was an intentional, pernicious hoax intended to destroy Palin because she represents a strong cultural strain in American life--that she is really her son's grandmother. That lie has been thoroughly debunked, including in my post linked above. But that apparently doesn't matter to the out-of-control media. Last night, I was appalled to hear the McCain Campaign chief tell CBS's Katie Couric that in background briefings media are demanding genetic testing of Trig and the family, and were asking whether Palin is still breast feeding her son. Can you imagine? This is an utter abuse of pow...

After a big day at the beach yesterday, it’s been a very quiet Labor Day around here, Charlie humming and hanging (and getting in some cello practice after a few weeks’ hiatus). My dad took some videos of Charlie swimming and we all watched those, and Charlie and Jim went on a bike ride past four train stations. (And I’ve been more than glad that it’s Labor Day as, felled by a stomach thing, I would not have been able to do too much laboring today).
The announcement about Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter and reports about Hurricane Gustav kept us all talking and following the news; an organization called Autism Cares is looking for families with autistic children who’ve been affected by Gustav and are in need of support.
There’s discussion all over about Senator John McCain’s choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. There’s the highly speculative rumor via Daily Kos that Palin is not the mother of Trig Paxson Van Palin (born in April), who has Down Syndrome, but that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin, is. And it was recently reported in the New York Times that, to rebut rumors, Palin has announced that Bristol Palin is indeed five months pregnant and is planning to have the child and marry her or his father.
Moving beyond the rumors, one thing that is clear is that the Palin family is going to have not one, but two young children in it soon; due to the attention newly directed to Sarah Palin, it’s likely that these young children will be under more than a b...

Everything is Oprah!Apparently, Governor Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant and will marry the father. From the story:"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us," the Palins' statement said. "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support," the Palins said.I don't know how this will impact the campaign, if at all. But look for there to be a sharp contrast drawn between the Palin family's loving acceptance of the new child, with Senator Barack Obama's statement that he wouldn't want his daughters "punished with a baby" if they made a "mista...

Alaska GOP Governor Sarah Palin’s Monday interview with CNBC
Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was interviewed by Maria Bartiromo of CNBC on Monday of this week about energy and national security in Alaska. Of course, this was before she was named John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate.
The entire interview is here at CNBC.
Note how Palin SLAMS Senator and Democrat Vice President nominee Joe Biden for thirty years ago being a naysayer and voting no on the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline.
Flap can hardly wait until Sarah Palin debates Slow Joe this fall.

From the Press Release e-mailed from a little bird:

Dear Friends,

John McCain rolled the dice with his VP pick today - in an attempt to woo women voters.
But we cannot gamble with women’s lives.
Don’t let your friends, family and co-workers be fooled: Alaskan Sarah Palin is a dangerous right-winger who lacks the judgment to lead.
In 2000, Palin endorsed Pat Buchanan for President. Yes, that Pat Buchanan.
In 2006, Palin ran for Alaska Governor on a message of change - and then turned out to be just another corrupt Alaska politician who’s now under investigation in her own state.
She’s no Hillary Clinton. She’s Dan Quayle in a dress.
Women voters who care about equal rights, choice, family and other issues, will not see a partner in Palin.
Help us...

Both Senators Barack Obama and John McCain have statements on their websites about autism. Obama’s is in a section on healthcare and is entitled Support Americans with Autism; he also has a plan on Autism Spectrum Disorders in his section on disabilities. McCain’s statement is also in a section on health care, with a statement about Combating Autism in America on a separate webpage.
Back in November, Senator Hillary Clinton’s website was the comprehensive about autism issues. Obama’s current two-paragraph statement on autism is the same as it was in November, as was his plan to empower Americans with disabilities. McCain’s website did not yet contain a section on autism. McCain made his entrance into autism politics with a February reference to thimerosal and ...

Governor Sarah Palin prepares to sign two bills into law – SB 214 and HB 326 – which will benefit Alaska Guard members
This piece pretty much says it all - even without mentioning Palin. All of the other candidates in the GOP Veepstakes are flawed in some way or another.
Let’s see. Governor Palin is:

Young and energetic

Conservative

Pro-Life Woman with a family

Experienced in Executive Government

Will Palin be a default McCain choice for Vice President or simply the BEST choice?

Kristol first raised the prospect of Sarah Palin on Fox News Sunday.

Is this the reason why there was a Mitt Romney for Vice President story in Politico today?
Yep, they are fighting to be named the GOP running mate.

If we’re consigned to choosing among Republicans for the Republican Veep (heh), I’m more and more keen on Sarah Palin. Yes, Yuval’s right that the GOP won’t beat the Democrats for excitement, but the GOP might excite particular constituencies. Palin is tackling the establishment in Alaska, including the oil and gas industry (much to the chagrin of some of my relatives!). She’s attractive (former Ms. Alaska). The state of Alaska will sue the U.S. government to stop the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species, arguing the designation will slow development in the state, Gov. Sarah Palin said on Wednesday.
Palin said the state will file a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington challenging U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne’s decision to grant Endangered Species Act protections to the polar bear.
The Republican governor has argued that the ice-dependent polar bear, the first mammal granted Endangered Species Act listing because of global warming, does not need additional protections.

Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post - The Fix interviews Governor Palin
Sarah Palin, the Republican Governor of Alaska says she IS interested in national office. Palin is refreshingly honest and definitely a rising star in the GOP.
She discounts the possibility that John McCain would pick her for Vice President this year but should Hillary Clinton make a comeback and win the Democrat nomination, Governor Palin would be on everyone’s short list.
A new generation of Republican pols will lead the party and Governor Palin is one such leader. (Source: FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog)
