A pancreatic adenocarcinoma mimicking hepatoid carcinoma of uncertain histogenesis: A case report and literature review
Oncol Lett. 2023 Aug 28;26(4):442. doi: 10.3892/ol.2023.14029. eCollection 2023 Oct.ABSTRACTIn rare cases, metastatic adenocarcinomas of different origin may exhibit the features of hepatoid carcinoma (HC), a rare malignant epithelial tumor, most commonly occurring in the ovaries and stomach, as well as in the pancreas and biliary ducts. A case of a 72-year-old female patient who developed a highly aggressive, poorly differentiated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with peritoneal carcinomatosis, demonstrating hepatoid differentiation upon conventional hematoxylin and eosin staining is reported in the present study. The pat...

Bioinformation. 2023 Jan 31;19(1):1-4. doi: 10.6026/97320630019001. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTOral Squamous cell Cancers (OSCC) is strongly associated with tobacco consumption. We here in present a case study of a OSCC patient who refused standard oncological care (SOC), to highlight the importance of integrating palliative care (PC) for improved patient outcomes. A 61 years male patient, with history of chewing tobacco for more than 20 years and diagnosed to have OSCC for 1.5 years presented with severe anaemia and a cauliflower-like growth (12 x 10 cm) in the left oral cavity and cheek with greenish-yellow discharge. Pus ...

Primary melanoma of female urethra: A case diagnosed in Ouagadougou
We report a case of primary melanoma of a female urethra diagnosed at a non-metastatic stage in a 48-year-old patient with a history of breast carcinoma treated with radiotherapy and hormone therapy. The patient was consulting for dysuria, hematuria, and perineal pain. The clinical examination found a prolapsed and black mass, developed at the expense of the urethra and located at the anterosuperior part of the vulva. The mass biopsy revealed a proliferation of fusiform and globular cells loaded with black pigment expressing the anti-HMB 45 and PS 100 antibodies. The extension assessment showed an absence of secondary loca...

Oral Lichen Planus: An Update on Diagnosis and Management
AbstractOral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease whose pathogenesis involves a T-cell mediated, epithelium-directed inflammation in response to unknown antigen(s). The disease evolves by intermittent flares and displays polymorphous clinical features (reticular, erosive, atrophic, plaque, papular, bullous, etc.). When present, symptoms vary depending on the clinical form and range from discomfort to severe pain. Topical superpotent corticosteroids constitute the first-line treatment of symptomatic flares, whereas a wide range of second/third-line treatments are available among topical calcineurin inhibito...

GSE242789 The Effect of Immunotherapy PD-1 Blockade on Acute Bone Cancer Pain: Insights from Transcriptomic and Microbiomic Profiling
Conclusions: Our study underscores fundamental connections among gastrointestinal toxicity, microbiota alterations, and acute cancer pain within the context of tumor immunotherapy. This work provides potential targets for the development of novel analgesics (targeting transcriptomic/microbiota factors), which could enhance the efficacy of bone pain management for cancer patients, ultimately improving their quality of life.

Evaluation of the efficacy of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma after one year
CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation is safe and effective for treating single-focus micropapillary thyroid carcinoma while retaining thyroid function, with few and minor complications, which can be used as an ideal surgical option.PMID:37704471 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.08.218

Melatonin Supplementation for Cancer-Related Fatigue in Patients With Early Stage Breast Cancer Receiving Radiotherapy: A Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: In this double-blind placebo-controlled phase III trial, melatonin did not prevent or significantly improve fatigue and other symptoms in patients with early stage breast cancer undergoing RT. The analysis, showing little evidence of an effect, at mid-recruitment, assured early termination of the trial.PMID:37699115 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyad250
