Parameters on interim 18F-FDG PET are strong predictors of survival, independent of clinical prognostic indexes and biological markers, in patients with diffuse large B cell lymphoma
Conclusions: SUVmax at iPET4 was independently prognostic for both PFS and OS in DLBCL treated with RCHOP. Patients with residual disease at iPET2 who subsequently achieve CR by iPET4 have excellent outcomes. References: 1. Dührsen U, Müller S, Hertenstein B, Thomssen H, Kotzerke J, Mesters R et al. Computer-aided detection of mantle cell lymphoma in whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT using deep convolutional neural networks
Conclusions: Deep CNNs can help identify MCL lesions with high sensitivity and limited PPV on baseline whole body 18F-FDG PET/CT. Our constructed CNNs were also robust among images from outside institutions and therefore may become a highly useful tool in the detection and initial staging of MCL. Table 1. Machine learning-based assignment of Deauville scores is comparable to interobserver variability on interim FDG PET/CT images of pediatric lymphoma patients
Conclusions: A fully automated method for assigning Deauville scores on interim PET scans was developed using a dataset from a multi-institutional prospective clinical trial of pediatric HL patients. Performance comparable to interobserver variability of visual DS was found for five class labeling. Binary DS classification results were more difficult to replicate, however validation in larger datasets including more patients with interim PET DS less than 3 is needed. Management of orbital inflammatory disorders in internal medicine: New findings resulting from a retrospective study of 31 consecutive patients.
CONCLUSION: After ruling out auto-immune orbital diseases, especially IgG4 ROD, IOIS should be discussed. Factors conditioning the corticosteroid response are yet to be determined. PMID: 32861532 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comparison of 11 automated PET segmentation methods in lymphoma.
ConclusionsMultiple methods, including a 3D CNN, clustering, and an iterative threshold method, achieved both good lesion-level segmentation and patient-level quantification performance in a population of 90 lymphoma patients. These methods are thus recommended over thresholding methods such as 40% and 50% SUVmax, which were consistently found to be significantly outside the limits defined by inter-physician agreement. Biomarkers and novel therapeutic approaches for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in the era of precision medicine.
Authors: Lodhi N, Tun M, Nagpal P, Inamdar AA, Ayoub NM, Siyam N, Oton-Gonzalez L, Gerona A, Morris D, Sandhu R, Suh KS Abstract Despite the great efforts for better treatment options for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, NHL) to treat and prevent relapse, it continues to be a challenge. Here, we present an overview of DLBCL and address the diagnostic assays and molecular techniques used in its diagnosis, role of biomarkers in detection, treatment of early and advanced stage DLBCL, and novel drug regimens. We discuss the significant biomarkers that have emerged as esse...

Corrigendum Anticancer effect of quinacrine on diffuse large B ‑cell lymphoma via inhibition of MSI2‑NUMB signaling pathway.
[Corrigendum] Anticancer effect of quinacrine on diffuse large B‑cell lymphoma via inhibition of MSI2‑NUMB signaling pathway. Mol Med Rep. 2021 Mar;23(3): Authors: Yang S, Sheng L, Xu K, Wang Y, Zhu H, Zhang P, Mu Q, Ouyang G Abstract Subsequently to the publication of this paper, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that, in Fig. 1A on p. 524, the images selected to represent the Control experiments for the SU‑DHL‑8 and OCI‑Ly01 cell lines bore some striking similarities. After having examined their original data, the authors realized that they uploaded the wrong images du...

New frontiers in precision medicine for Sjogren's syndrome.
Authors: Chatzis L, Vlachoyiannopoulos PG, Tzioufas AG, Goules AV Abstract Introduction: Sjögren's syndrome is a unique systemic autoimmune disease, placed in the center of systemic autoimmunity and at the crossroad of autoimmunity and lymphoproliferation. The diverse clinical picture of the disease, the inefficacy of current biologic treatments and the co-existence with lymphoma conferring to the patients' morbidity and mortality, force the scientific community to review disease pathogenesis and reveal the major implicated cellular and molecular elements. Areas covered: Biomarkers for early diagnosis, prediction,...

Just another “Clever Hans”? Neural networks and FDG PET-CT to predict the outcome of patients with breast cancer
ConclusionAlthough trained on lymphoma and lung cancer, PARS showed good accuracy in the detection of PERCIST measurable lesions. Therefore, the neural network seems not prone to the clever Hans effect. However, the network has poor accuracy if all manually segmented lesions were used as reference standard. Both the whole body and organ-wise MTV were significant prognosticators of overall survival in advanced breast cancer.
