Intramedullary Metastasis From Ovarian Cancer: A Systematic Review of the Literature (P3.137)
Conclusion: intramedullary metastasis from ovarian tumor accounts for 1-2.2[percnt] of all intramedullary metastasis. The tumor types reported included serous adenocarcinoma and poorly differentiated carcinoma-not otherwise specified. Survival beyond two years have been reported with combination of resection and radiotherapy.Disclosure: Dr. Safarpour has nothing to disclose. Dr. Tavassoli has nothing to disclose. Dr. Jabbari has received research support from Allergan Inc., Merz Pharma, and Ipsen.

Application of optic neuro ‐ophthalmology imaging in latent meningeal metastases of lung cancer
Latent metastasis of lung cancer is difficult to determine, and to date there have been few studies exploring a new method for diagnosis. Here we present an elderly patient with lung cancer combined with latent intracranial meningeal metastases (IMM). Although her brain imaging was normal, lumbar puncture could not be conducted. Hence, optic neuro-ophthalmology imaging was used to identify the IMM. To our knowledge, this is the first study concerning enhancement of optic nerve sheath will appear in meningeal metastases. AbstractLatent intracranial meningeal metastases (IMM) of lung cancer is difficult to determine, yet it ...

Sigmoidal polyp with adenocarcinoma discovered by transvaginal three-dimensional ultrasonographic virtual colonoscopy.
Authors: Dankovcik R, Miklosova M, Vargova V, Dancova I, Contos P, Muranska S, Vernerova S, Katuchova J, Bojcikova M Abstract Adenocarcinoma of the colon represents the third most frequent cause of death from cancer, being surpassed only by lung and stomach cancer. Early screening and diagnosis of polyps are important for a good prognosis. Based on a clinical case, a novel approach is presented for screening of sigmoidal polyps and neoplasia using transvaginal 2D, 3D mode in women. This novel and simple technique can be used to visualize the sigmoid diverticula during routine gynecological examination via 3D transv...

Effect of chicken antibodies on inflammation in human lung epithelial cell lines.
CONCLUSIONS: The present data indicate that IgY are not inflammatory for lung cells and thus they are possibly applicable for prevention of airway bacterial infections. PMID: 25638373 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the ileocecal junction with well differentiation adenocarcinoma.
Authors: Wang X, Li Y, Feng H, Wang C, Chen J, Liu L Abstract Neuroendocrine tumors are unique and rare tumors originating from neuroendocrine cells. Large cell neuroendocrine tumors have been found in almost every organ such as gastrointestinal tract, bronchopulmonary, pancreas, uterine cervix, urinary bladder and salivary gland, but primary sites in gastrointestinal tract and lung are the most frequent. These neoplasms show neuroendocrine differentiation in organizational structure, which requires further confirmation with immunohistochemistry or electron microscope. In immunohistochemistry staining, pure neuroen...

Neuro-neoplastic interrelationships in colorectal level - immunohistochemical aspect in three cases and review of the literature.
Authors: Florescu C, Istrătoaie O, Târtea GC, Pirici D, Streba CT, Cătălin B, Puiu I, Târtea EA, Caragea DC, Ghiluşi MC, Comănescu MV, Rogoveanu I, Vere CC Abstract Colorectal cancer represents a severe public health issue. Recent studies have shown the essential role played by nerves and their neurotransmitters in tumor initiation and progression. The aim of this study is to asses the expression of beta 2-adrenergic receptors (β2A) for adrenaline and noradrenaline, and the expression of M3 muscarinic receptors (M3R) for acetylcholine (neurotransmitters produced and released by sympathetic and parasympathet...

Expression of MT1 receptor in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma and its relationship with clinicopathological features.
Authors: Sargazi F, Shokrzadeh M, Abediankenari S, Hoseini SV, Nasrabadi NN, Najafi M, Haghi-Aminjan H, Mirmajidi SH, Ataee R Abstract Gastric cancer accounts 8% of the total cancer cases leading to 10% of total cancer deaths worldwide. The indoleamine N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, better known as melatonin, is the principal hormone produced by the pineal gland. Recently, it has been well documented some anti-cancer roles of melatonin in some malignancies as breast and colon cancer; as well as some its protective roles in the GI tract that have been known as free radical scavenger, antimitogenic and apoptotic prope...

Coexistence of neurofibromatosis type 1 with multiple malignant neoplasia.
Authors: Abstract Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1, von Recklinghausen disease) is inherited in autosomal dominant way genetic disorder, with an incidence at birth 1:3000. It is one of the most common congenital disorders. It is characterized by café-au-lait spots, neurofibromas, and less common MPTST and gliomas of the optic nerve. It is caused by germline mutations of the NF1 gene, which acts as tumor suppressor. Inactivation of the gene leads to increased activation of the kinase pathways, and in consequence, uncontrolled proliferation of cells. The disease predisposes to the development of both benign and malign...

Collision of a neuroendocrine tumor and ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas: a rare case report.
Authors: Sabol M, Donát R, Macháleková K, Šintál D, Durdík S Abstract Despite the increased incidence of pancreatic cancer, reported data of collision pancreatic tumors are very rare, limited just to sporadic cases. There are only two described cases of the collision pancreatic tumor consisting of neuroendocrine and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma in the literature. Currently, we are presenting a case of a young female patient with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma surrounding a smaller focal lesion of the well-differentiated neuroendocrine pancreatic tumor. The patient underwent proximal pancreaticoduodenect...

A choroid plexus metastasis of a prostatic adenocarcinoma mimicking a choroid plexus carcinoma: a case report
Neurochirurgie. 2021 Mar 3:S0028-3770(21)00050-3. doi: 10.1016/j.neuchi.2021.02.011. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA multicystic intraventricular tumor of the right ventricular atrium was incidentally diagnosed on follow-up imaging of a 61-year-old man with a history of prostatic adenocarcinoma. Surgical resection of the lesion was performed after a one-year radio-clinical follow-up due to progressive expansion of the lesion size and a rising prostate specific antigen blood-level. Morphological features with papillary pattern on pathological examination were compatible with malignant adenocarcinoma or choroid plexus carcin...
