The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Hepatocellular Carcinoma Time to Treatment Initiation: A National Cancer Database Study
CONCLUSIONS: For patients diagnosed during COVID, TTI for HCC, while statistically significant, had no clinically significant differences. However, vulnerable patients were more likely to have increased TTI.PMID:37099088 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13468-6

Effect of DPP4/CD26 expression on SARS ‑CoV‑2 susceptibility, immune response, adenosine (derivatives m < sup > 6 < /sup > < sub > 2 < /sub > A and CD) regulations on patients with cancer and healthy individuals
Int J Oncol. 2023 Mar;62(3):41. doi: 10.3892/ijo.2023.5489. Epub 2023 Feb 17.ABSTRACTThe worldwide COVID‑19 pandemic was brought on by a new coronavirus (SARS Cov‑2). A marker/receptor called Dipeptidyl peptidase 4/CD26(DPP4/CD26) may be crucial in determining susceptibility to tumors and coronaviruses. However, the regulation of DPP4 in COVID‑invaded cancer patients and its role on small molecule compounds remain unclear. The present study used the Human Protein Atlas, Monaco, and Schmiedel databases to analyze the expression of DPP4 in human tissues and immune cells. The association between DPP4 expression and surv...

Factors affecting anxiety, depression, and stress among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma during COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSIONS: Chronic disease, gender, and age were prominent factors in predicting the DASS-21 total score in HCC patients. Therefore, the crucial factors were clinically considered for managing depression, stress, and anxiety in HCC patients.PMID:36734727 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202301_31073

COVID-19 and liver injury: An ongoing challenge
World J Gastroenterol. 2023 Jan 14;29(2):257-271. doi: 10.3748/wjg.v29.i2.257.ABSTRACTThe new coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was identified in December 2019, in Wuhan, China. The virus was rapidly spread worldwide, causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Although COVID-19 is presented, usually, with typical respiratory symptoms (i.e., dyspnea, cough) and fever, extrapulmonary manifestations are also encountered. Liver injury is a common feature in patients with COVID-19 and ranges from mild and temporary elevation of liver enzymes to severe liver injury and, even, acu...
