Gastric pneumatosis, an uncommon complication of a lung transplant, prognosis, diagnostic and treatment management
We present a case of a 40-year-old woman with double-lung transplant with extracorporeal circulation (EC) due to pulmonary hypertension (pulmonary veno-occlusive disease form (PVOD)) secondary to mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD). On day 6 postoperatively, abdominal pain and distension was noticed, since abdominal CT scan was performed, showing emphysematous gastritis with gastric wall ischemia and peritonitis. Therefore, emergent surgery was proposed. By open surgery approach, a total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y and esophagojejunal anastomosis was performed. On day 6 after gastrectomy, intraluminal bleeding of the eso...

LB-002 Liquid biopsy identifies somatic KRAS mutations in paediatric cranio-spinal arterio-venous malformations: preliminary results
DiscussionOur preliminary results support our hypothesis that liquid biopsy is a feasible method of identifying somatic mutations in complex cranio-spinal AVMs. They also suggest that somatic activating KRAS mutations play a role in a variety of AVM phenotypes, including Vein of Galen Malformation. These results highlight potential use of genotype-directed pharmacotherapy for these disabling lesions.DisclosuresK. Bhatia: 1; C; Sydney Aneurysm Pty Ltd. 4; C; Sydney Aneurysm Pty Ltd. D. Error traps and preventative strategies for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis spinal surgery
Paediatr Anaesth. 2023 Aug 1. doi: 10.1111/pan.14735. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAnesthesia for posterior spinal fusion for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis remains one of the most common surgeries performed in adolescents. These procedures have the potential for significant intraprocedural and postoperative complications. The potential for pressure injuries related to prone positioning must be understood and addressed. Additionally, neuromonitoring remains a mainstay for patient care in order to adequately assess patient neurologic integrity and alert the providers to a reversible action. As such, causes of neuromonitor...

Efficacy of minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion plus cement-augmented pedicle screw fixation in the treatment of degenerative lumbar spine disease with osteoporosis in the elderly
CONCLUSIONS: MIS-TLIF plus cement-augmented pedicle screw fixation shortens the operative time, alleviates postoperative pain, facilitates operative lumbar spine function restoration, and provides favorable intervertebral implant fusion.PMID:37522669 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202307_33128
