Investigating the relationship between physical activity and self-reported outcomes in adults with rotator cuff related shoulder pain
CONCLUSION: A significant relationship between pain or self-reported outcomes and physical activity was not identified. Those who self-reported regularly exercising their injured shoulder had higher exercise self-efficacy than those who did not. These findings have clinical implications, suggesting that strategies to boost exercise self-efficacy may be important for older adults with rotator cuff related shoulder pain.PMID:37642369 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2023.2250438

Does Lidocaine Shorten Seizure Duration in Electroconvulsive Therapy?
Conclusions We provide additional evidence highlighting the importance of caution regarding lidocaine dosing due to the effect on seizure length in the ECT setting. It is advisable for clinicians to exercise caution when administering lidocaine regarding its dosing and seizure length in ECT settings. Future investigation is needed to assess causal relationships by studying certain vulnerable groups or employing other charge calculation techniques, such as the titration method. Sedative drug-use in Denmark, 2000 to 2019: a nationwide drug utilization study
ConclusionIn Denmark different central regulations have influenced prescription practice toward more restrictive use of Z-drugs and benzodiazepines, except for hypnotic benzodiazepine prescriptions increased after the introduction of special palliative care. An increase in use of newer sedative drugs, however, indicates that the regulations do not remove the need for sedative drugs in the population.

Exploring the impact of chronic medical conditions on maternal mental health: A National Inpatient Sample analysis
CONCLUSION: Heart diseases, alcohol misuse, migraine, systemic lupus erythematosus, and epilepsy were the most important chronic medical conditions associated with mental diseases during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This investigation recommends integrating management of chronic diseases and mental health care together. Specifically, screening for mental illnesses should be a routine part of care for patients with chronic medical conditions, especially during pregnancy and early postpartum. By identifying and addressing mental health issues early on, healthcare providers can improve the overall health and well-bein...

The effects of cancer clinical decision support systems on patient-reported outcomes: A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Including patient-reported outcomes in the evaluation of DSS is critical to understand their impact. Inconsistencies in reporting of interventions may, however, be a contributing factor to heterogeneous effects of clinical DSS regarding a broad range of patient-reported outcomes.PMID:37633024 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2023.102398
