Pain-related stigma in patients with breast, colon, prostate or lung cancer : Results of a bicentric register-based cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings support the assumption that the experience of pain can have an impact on the perceived stigmatization of cancer patients. Depression might influence the perceived stigmatization. Therefore, this group of patients should receive special attention and psycho-oncological care in clinical practice. Further research on the course and mechanisms of action of pain-related perceived stigmatization is also required.PMID:37710022 | DOI:10.1007/s00482-023-00752-3

Reporting of Rehabilitation Outcomes in the Traumatic Lower Limb Amputation Literature: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The study provides a list of outcome indicators explicitly published for adults with traumatic LLA, highlighting inconsistent reporting of outcome indicators. The lack of a standardized set of outcome measures is a barrier to performing meta-analyses on interventions, preventing the identification of effective care models and clinical pathways. Developing a core outcome set (COS) consisting of minimum outcome measures deemed necessary for clinical decision-making may address this issue.PMID:37708929 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.08.028

Outcomes and outcome measures utilised in randomised controlled trials of postoperative caesarean delivery pain: a scoping review
Internationally, approximately 140 million women experience childbirth every year. The rate of caesarean delivery (CD) continues to rise globally, estimated to reach nearly a third of all births by 2030.1 As a major abdominal surgery, CD can impact postpartum and long-term health.2,3 Despite the frequency and familiarity of CD, adequate management of postoperative pain after CD remains a challenge.4,5 Poorly managed pain after CD predicts a higher risk of persistent pain, postpartum depression and opioid dependence in women.

Effect of acupuncture on BDNF signaling pathways in several nervous system diseases
In recent years, the understanding of the mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of neurological disorders has deepened, and considerable progress has been made in basic and clinical research on acupuncture, but the relationship between acupuncture treatment mechanisms and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) has not yet been elucidated. A wealth of evidence has shown that acupuncture exhibits a dual regulatory function of activating or inhibiting different BDNF pathways. This review focuses on recent research advances on the effect of acupuncture on BDNF and downstream signaling pathways in several neurological di...
