Functional Connectivity and Structural Signatures of the Visual Cortical System in Fibromyalgia: A Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
CONCLUSION: Altered FCs and structure in the visual cortical system might be involved in pathomechanisms and clinical presentation in FM. The findings could potentially support further studies that seek to find the diagnosis methods and mechanism-based therapies in patients with FM.PMID:37127319 | DOI:10.3899/jrheum.2022-1309

The impact of fibromyalgia syndrome on obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in terms of pain threshold, daytime symptoms, anxiety, depression, disease severity, and sleep quality: a polysomnographic study
CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that FMS has no effect on polysomnographic parameters of OSAS. Headache, daytime fatigue, anxiety, depression, pain duration, and pain intensity are higher while the pressure pain threshold is lower when FMS is present. No correlation was found between OSAS severity and FMS, fatigue, pressure pain threshold, depression, and anxiety.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT05367167/date: April 8, 2022.PMID:37071285 | DOI:10.1007/s11325-023-02831-2

Pain neuroscience education improves quality of life when added to aquatic exercise therapy for women with fibromyalgia: randomized controlled clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: The present results show that the addition of PNE to an aquatic exercise intervention did not provide larger effects than aquatic exercises alone for people with FMS concerning pain intensity, but provided benefit for health-related quality of life for this population.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT03073642, version 2, April 1st, 2019).PERSPECTIVE: The addition of 4 Pain Neuroscience Education sessions to an aquatic exercises protocol did not add benefits for women with fibromyalgia syndrome on pain, fibromyalgia impact, and sleep, but improved quality of life and pain sensitivity.IMPLICATIONS FOR ...
