Functional Alterations of the Basal Ganglia Are Associated with Voluntary Activation of the Core Stabilizing Muscles in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain: A Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: Grey matter alterations may be confined to regions responsible for perception, motor control, and emotion regulation in patients with CLBP. The interrupted EC from the basal ganglia to the default mode network might be involved in the impairment of voluntary activation of the core stabilizing muscles.PMID:37693681 | PMC:PMC10484657 | DOI:10.1155/2023/2028379

The effects of modified Guizhi plus Gegen decoction combined with the blade needle therapy on TCM syndromes, cervical curvature and levels of inflammatory factors in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy
CONCLUSION: Modified Guizhi plus Gegen decoction combined with the blade needle therapy effectively improved the TCM syndrome scores, restored the curvature of the cervical spine, improved the hemorheology of patients, inhibited the levels of inflammatory factors and it also has few adverse reactions, with a significant treatment effect in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.PMID:37692957 | PMC:PMC10492064

Comparison between percutaneous short-segment fixation and percutaneous vertebroplasty in treating Kummell's disease: A minimum 2-year follow-up retrospective study
CONCLUSION: For the treatment of Kummell's disease, both PVP and PSSF have been found to be effective. PVP can provide rapid pain relief with a shorter operation time. However, in cases with severe kyphosis deformity, PSSF should be given priority.PMID:37694352 | DOI:10.3233/BMR-230083

Effects of sleep quality on pain, cognitive factors, central sensitization, and quality of life in patients with chronic low back pain
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that sleep quality in patients with CLBP is indirectly mediated through multiple pathways, including cognitive factors and CS, which may influence QoL.PMID:37694349 | DOI:10.3233/BMR-220429

Physical and well-being effect of scapular Kinesio taping combined with conventional physiotherapy in shoulder impingement syndrome: A randomized controlled study
CONCLUSION: Both conventional physiotherapy programs and additional scapular KT improved scapular dyskinesia, reduced pain, and increased the upper extremity function. Adding scapular KT to treatment did not change the results, but it had positive psychological effects and yielded a high satisfaction rate.PMID:37694348 | DOI:10.3233/BMR-220396

Perioperative Anxiolysis and Analgesic Effect after Premedication with Melatonin and Pregabalin in Total Hip Arthroplasty under Spinal Anaesthesia: A Prospective Comparative Trial
CONCLUSIONS: Pregabalin was found better for perioperative anxiolysis, post-operative analgesia and for prolongation of duration of spinal anaesthesia when compared to melatonin.PMID:37694243 | PMC:PMC10492595 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_323_22
