Vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) in vascular inflammatory diseases
Vasa. 2022 Oct 6. doi: 10.1024/0301-1526/a001031. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACT Vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) also known as amino oxidase copper containing 3 (AOC3) is a pro-inflammatory and versatile molecule with adhesive and enzymatic properties. VAP-1 is a primary amine oxidase belonging to the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) family, which catalyzes the oxidation of primary amines leading to the production of ammonium, formaldehyde, methylglyoxal, and hydrogen peroxide. VAP-1 is mainly expressed by endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, adipocytes and pericytes. It is involved in a repertoire of bi...

Endothelial Damage Arising From High Salt Hypertension Is Elucidated by Vascular Bed Systematic Profiling
CONCLUSIONS: These findings provide novel molecular insight into HS-induced structural changes in eGC and EC composition that may increase cardiovascular risk and potentially guide the development of new diagnostics and therapeutic interventions.PMID:36700429 | DOI:10.1161/ATVBAHA.122.318439

Emerging effects of non-coding RNA in vascular endothelial cells during strokes
Vascul Pharmacol. 2023 Apr 12:107169. doi: 10.1016/j.vph.2023.107169. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVascular and neurological damage are the typical outcomes of ischemic strokes. Vascular endothelial cells (VECs), a substantial component of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), are necessary for normal cerebrovascular physiology. During an ischemic stroke (IS), changes in the brain endothelium can lead to a BBB rupture, inflammation, and vasogenic brain edema, and VECs are essential for neurotrophic effects and angiogenesis. Non-coding RNAs (nc-RNAs) are endogenous molecules, and brain ischemia quickly changes the expression patt...

Cardio-Oncology: Vascular and Metabolic Perspectives: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association.
gy; and Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing Abstract Cardio-oncology has organically developed as a new discipline within cardiovascular medicine as a result of the cardiac and vascular adverse sequelae of the major advances in cancer treatment. Patients with cancer and cancer survivors are at increased risk of vascular disease for a number of reasons. First, many new cancer therapies, including several targeted therapies, are associated with vascular and metabolic complications. Second, cancer itself serves as a risk factor for vascular disease, especially by increasing the risk for thromboembolic events...

The effect of complex vascular anatomy on silent new ischemic cerebral lesions in carotid artery stenting procedures (from the COMPLEX-CAS Trial)
CONCLUSIONS: The higher CCA-ICA angle may predict pre-procedure SNICL risk in carotid artery stenting and may have clinical value in the management of patients with carotid artery stenosis.PMID:33896290 | DOI:10.1177/17085381211010016
