Functional status of individuals with osteogenesis imperfecta: data from a reference center
CONCLUSIONS: Among the evaluated individuals, functional alterations were identified, reduced global gross motor functionality and muscle strength, impacting the mobility domain, with the most relevant findings in individuals with type III OI.PMID:35940209 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2022.07.002

Evolution of a Search: The Use of Dynamic Twitter Searches During Superstorm Sandy
Conclusion The most important lesson learned from Superstorm Sandy was the need for a dynamic and flexible monitoring process and strategy to understand and respond quickly to health needs in the areas impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Search strategies should change as frequently as the unfolding event. The inability to adapt to a changing situation ensures stale and stagnant terminology and search results. Twitter lists and Boolean searches should be used together to maximize situational awareness. The most important information comes from the impacted population, whether news, local government or local citizens. These are t...

Vascular depression in Black Americans: a systematic review of the construct and its cognitive, functional, and psychosocial correlates
Conclusion: This review underscores the need for further neuroimaging and neuropsychological research in Black older adults with comorbid depression and vascular disease. Findings also highlight the importance of screening for depressive symptoms in Black individuals with multiple vascular risk factors.PMID:34098846 | DOI:10.1080/13854046.2021.1933188

TMAO as a Novel Predictor of Major Adverse Vascular Events and Recurrence in Patients with Large Artery Atherosclerotic Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Elevated plasma TMAO concentration was independently associated with LAA ischemic stroke. The risk of major vascular event recurrence increased by 2.128 times in the LAA stroke subjects with plasma TMAO level higher than 126.83 pg/mL. Plasma TMAO concentration might be a potential biomarker of major vascular event recurrence.PMID:35345908 | DOI:10.1177/10760296221090503

Infarct-preconditioning exosomes of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells promoted vascular remodeling and neurological recovery after stroke in rats
CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated that infarct-preconditioned exosomes promoted neurological recovery after stroke by enhancing vascular endothelial remodeling, suggested that infarct-preconditioned exosomes could be a novel way to alleviate brain damage following a stroke.PMID:35902882 | DOI:10.1186/s13287-022-03083-9

Targeting Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Senescence: A Novel Strategy for Vascular Diseases
J Cardiovasc Transl Res. 2023 Mar 27. doi: 10.1007/s12265-023-10377-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVascular diseases are a major threat to human health, characterized by high rates of morbidity, mortality, and disability. VSMC senescence contributes to dramatic changes in vascular morphology, structure, and function. A growing number of studies suggest that VSMC senescence is an important pathophysiological mechanism for the development of vascular diseases, including pulmonary hypertension, atherosclerosis, aneurysm, and hypertension. This review summarizes the important role of VSMC senescence and senescence-associated...
