How physiotherapists perceive, interpret, and respond to the ethical dimensions of practice: A qualitative study.
Abstract The profile and reach of physiotherapy has expanded in areas of extended scope of practice, and broader engagement with population needs beyond the individual treatment encounter. These changes raise increasingly complex ethical challenges evidenced by growth in physiotherapy-based ethics studies and discussions. This paper examines how a broad cross section of Australian physiotherapists perceive, interpret, and respond to ethical challenges in their work contexts and how professional codes of conduct are used in their practice. Using an interpretive qualitative methodology, purposive sampling of 88 memb...

Genetic Epidemiology of Liability for Alcohol-Induced Blacking and Passing Out.
CONCLUSIONS: Blacking and passing out are 2 common sedative-like effects of heavy drinking, and people differ considerably in their susceptibility to these effects. This study suggests that differences in blackout susceptibility can be explained by genetic factors in both men and women, while differences in susceptibility to pass out after consuming alcohol may be attributable to environmental influences, particularly among women. These environmental factors may include changing social and cultural norms about alcohol use, drinking context, and the type(s) of alcohol consumed. PMID: 31063677 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Formative evaluation of a community-based approach to reduce the incidence of Strep A infections and acute rheumatic fever
CONCLUSIONS: Ongoing participation suggests this outreach-based prevention program was acceptable and associated with improved reporting of household maintenance issues and awareness of prevention opportunities for Strep A infections. Implications for public health: Biomedical, clinic-based approaches to the management of Strep A infections in remote communities can be usefully augmented by outreach-based supports delivered by Aboriginal Community Workers responding to community needs.PMID:34028929 | DOI:10.1111/1753-6405.13127
