Development and analysis of a universal label-free micro/nano component for three-channel detection of silver ions, mercury ions, and tetracycline
Anal Chim Acta. 2023 Oct 2;1276:341606. doi: 10.1016/j.aca.2023.341606. Epub 2023 Jul 8.ABSTRACTIn this paper, an enzyme-free and label-free fluorescent nanomodule is proposed for rapid, simple and sensitive detection of Ag+, Hg2+ and tetracycline (TC). The strategy is cleverly designed to enable multiple-purpose detection with as little as 31 nt of ssDNA. Both the embedded dye SYBR Green I and the nanomaterial graphene oxide (GO) are able to distinguish single-stranded DNA from double-stranded DNA; thus, the combination of the two instead of using traditional molecular beacon (MB)-labeled fluorophores and quencher groups ...

Interventions for bullous pemphigoid
CONCLUSIONS: Clobetasol propionate cream applied over the whole body is probably similarly effective as, and may cause less mortality than, oral prednisone for treating bullous pemphigoid. Lower-dose clobetasol propionate cream applied over the whole body is probably similarly effective as standard-dose clobetasol propionate cream and has similar mortality. Doxycycline is less effective but causes less mortality than prednisolone for treating bullous pemphigoid. Other treatments need further investigation.PMID:37572360 | PMC:PMC10421473 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD002292.pub4

Regeneration and modification of cellulose acetate from cigarette waste: Biomedical potential by encapsulation of tetracycline hydrochloride
In this study, cigarette filters waste was collected, recycled and used for fabricating the nanofibrous membrane of cellulose acetate nanofibers (CFCA) through electrospinning technique. Tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) was encapsulated in the nanofibers to prevent bacterial infections. Various analyses were conducted: Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). CA and CFCA exhibited high water uptake properties and exhibited similar breaking stress and strain values. Both CA and CFCA effectively acted as stable dr...

S-scheme heterojunction of hollow corncob-like ZnIn < sub > 2 < /sub > S < sub > 4 < /sub > /LaFeO < sub > 3 < /sub > for water splitting and tetracycline degradation
Chemosphere. 2023 Aug 9:139777. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.139777. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTReasonable design of heterojunction photocatalysts with high-quality interfacial coupling is an effective way to improve the photocatalytic activity of semiconductors. Herein, we successfully decorated Zinc indium sulfide (ZnIn2S4, ZIS) on perovskite Lanthanum ferrite (LaFeO3, LFO) with more active sites by a pre-hydrothermal combined post-calcination method, and constructed S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst with a unique hollow corncob-like morphology for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production and tetracycline (...

Oxytetracycline changes the behavior of zebrafish larvae by inhibiting NMDA receptors
In conclusion, OTC exhibited significant inhibitory neurobehavioral toxicity in zebrafish larvae during early development, which may be dependent on its suppression of NMDA receptor activity and expression. Furthermore, OTC-induced neurodevelopmental toxicity may be associated with NMDA receptor-regulated neuronal apoptosis.PMID:37567108 | DOI:10.1016/j.ecoenv.2023.115344

Generation of precision preclinical cancer models using regulated in vivo base editing
Nat Biotechnol. 2023 Aug 10. doi: 10.1038/s41587-023-01900-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlthough single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) make up the majority of cancer-associated genetic changes and have been comprehensively catalogued, little is known about their impact on tumor initiation and progression. To enable the functional interrogation of cancer-associated SNVs, we developed a mouse system for temporal and regulatable in vivo base editing. The inducible base editing (iBE) mouse carries a single expression-optimized cytosine base editor transgene under the control of a tetracycline response element and enables robus...
