Characteristics and Predictors of Apparent Treatment Resistant Hypertension in Real-World Populations Using Electronic Health Record-Based Data
CONCLUSIONS: In two large, diverse real-world populations, we observed similar comorbidities and predictors of aTRH as prior studies. In the future, these results may be used to improve healthcare professionals' understanding of aTRH predictors and associated comorbidities.PMID:37712350 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad084

The effect of postoperative hepatic fibrosis factors on morbidity in mitral valve replacement surgery: A single center ten years' experience
CONCLUSION: The AST/ALT ratio, which has been shown to be a predictor of cardiovascular mortality in various studies, was not useful in predicting mortality and morbidity in our study. However, a high FIB-4 index, another hepatic fibrosis index, was found to be associated with increased perioperative bleeding, duration of mechanical ventilation, and cardiac intensive care unit stay, which are important criteria in the prediction of morbidity in cardiovascular surgery.PMID:37706385 | PMC:PMC10284468 | DOI:10.4103/aca.aca_55_22

The potential of digital health records for public health research, policy, and practice: the case of the Lombardy Region Data Warehouse
Acta Biomed. 2023 Aug 30;94(S3):e2023121. doi: 10.23750/abm.v94iS3.14407.ABSTRACTDigital health records can provide advantages to healthcare practice, policy, and research. Several countries have established population-based digitalised data collection, integrated through data linkage techniques. In Lombardy (Italy), a regional population-based registry was established in the 2000s. It collects data from the social and health sector, anonymised immediately after their acquisition and restructured in a single repository. Data can be used for public health interest, planning, monitoring, services evaluation, and research. In...

New governance of the digital health agency: a way out of the joint decision trap to implement electronic health records in Germany?
Health Econ Policy Law. 2023 Sep 11:1-20. doi: 10.1017/S1744133123000142. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTFragmentation in health systems leads to discontinuities in the provision of health services, reduces the effectiveness of interventions, and increases costs. In international comparisons, Germany is notably lagging in the context of healthcare (data) integration. Despite various political efforts spanning decades, intersectoral care and integrated health data remain controversial and are still in an embryonic phase in the country. Even more than 2 years after its launch, electronic health record (elektronische Patienten...

An interrupted time series study of electronic health record clinical decision support for providers caring for patients with atrial fibrillation at increased stroke risk
CONCLUSION: There was a significant trend of increasing anticoagulation rates during the pre-BPA period, with no significant change in trend during the post-BPA period relative to the pre-BPA period.PMID:37696764 | DOI:10.1093/ajhp/zxad188
