IDF2022-1237 A Stakeholder Analysis of Awareness and Implementation of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program in the United States
Beginning in 2018, the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) in the United States provides unprecedented government insurance coverage of a behavior change program for older-adult Medicare beneficiaries age 65 years and older, but uptake of the program has been extremely limited. Only 1.5 sites deliver the program per 100,000 beneficiaries nationwide (Yan et al., 2021). Inadequate reach and utilization of the MDPP threaten its long-term success.

National Utilization and Reimbursement Patterns for Mohs Micrographic Surgery in the Ambulatory Surgery Setting
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the US, with certain health behaviors and demographics increasing an individual ’s lifetime risk.1,2 Many skin cancers on cosmetically and functionally sensitive sites can be treated with Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). These procedures primarily take place in the outpatient setting with either immediate or delayed repair of the resulting defect. In prior studies, characteri stics such as insurance status among patients undergoing MMS have been described but these data are limited by small sample sizes from few institutions.

Gender-affirming surgeries (GAS) are effective at mitigating gender dysphoria. Surgical intervention leads to lower rates of anxiety, depression, suicidality, psychiatrist visits, STI/HIV transmission, and job loss.1 As such, demand for these procedures has grown. From 2015 to 2017, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported a 155% increase in gender-affirming procedures.2
