Do chimpanzees see a face on Mars? A search for face pareidolia in chimpanzees
This study explored behavioral evidence for face pareidolia in chimpanzees using visual search and matching tasks. Faces are processed in a configural manner, and their perception and recognition are hampered by inversion and misalignment of top and bottom parts. We investigated whether the same effect occurs in a visual search for face-like objects. The results showed an effect of misalignment. Apigenin attenuates acrylonitrile-induced neuro-inflammation in rats: Involved of inactivation of the TLR4/NF- κB signaling pathway.
In this study, we used AP (117, 234 and 351 mg·kg-1) pretreatment intragastrically to resist the neurotoxicity caused by ACN gavage (46 mg·kg-1) for 28 days, and then detected the oxidative stress, inflammation mediated by the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, and apoptosis to evaluate the protective effect of AP. The results showed that AP could lessen the autonomic activities of rats, and improve the abnormal morphology of neurons induced by ACN. Search hours for food attractant by Anastrepha fraterculus and Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) adults in guava orchards
This study was to determine the period and search time by attractive food for A. fraterculus and C. capitata adults by using three commercial food attractants: BioAnastrepha™ 5%; Isca Samaritá Tradicional™ 5% and Ceratrap™ 1.5%. The largest catches of A. fraterculus and C. capitata adults in McPhail traps occurred during the day between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm for both species. The BioAnastrepha™ food attractant provided the largest catches compared to Isca Samaritá Tradicional™ and Ceratrap™.
