Nimg-23. development of practice algorithms to guide treatment planning with ttfields for the management of glioblastoma
CONCLUSIONS:TTFields in combination with TMZ have improved overall survival in newly diagnosed glioblastoma. As TTFields become increasingly incorporated into standard glioblastoma management, clinical practice guidelines are acutely needed in order to optimize efficacy and outcomes via standardization of treatment across patients and institutions. The development of these algorithms represents the first-ever clinical practice guidelines for the use of TTFields in glioblastoma.

Nimg-75. features of local gradient disorder on mri that distinguish radiation necrosis and tumor recurrence post-radiotherapy are associated with zonal necrosis, vessel wall thickening, hyalinization and demyelination: a preliminary study in brain tumors
CONCLUSION:Imaging correlates on routine MRI were identified for histological attributes (zonal necrosis, vessel wall thickening, vascular hyalinization and demyelination) observed in RN and RT on surgically resected specimens. These histological attributes contribute to lesion heterogeneity, and may be reflected in the CoLlAGe features at the radiologic scale.

Qlif-25. physical health risks in neuro-oncology family caregivers
CONCLUSIONS:Findings suggest that poor emotional health during caregiving is associated with markers of risk for cardiovascular disease. Clinically, interventions to address emotional health in caregivers should be implemented at the time of diagnosis. Future studies are needed to determine how these relationships change throughout the care situation, particularly given the strong link between CRP and cardiovascular health.

Comparative Effectiveness of Electronic and Written Patient-Reported Data Entry in Patients with Neuro-Oncologic Disease (P1.169)
Conclusions:In this small cross-sectional study, accuracy of PRO differed by type of question asked and method of data entry (electronic vs written). Ever/never and single-answer questions were most consistent, and thus advantageous, for electronic PRO data-entry. Mobile device use within 30 days identified patients most ready for electronic data capture.Study Supported by: We would like to thank and acknowledge the CTSI: Kulynych Interdisciplinary Cancer Research Fund for support of this study as well as Dr. Richelle Koopman and colleagues at the University of Missouri for permission and guidance in the use of the PRE-HIT...

Neuro-oncology family caregivers ’ view on keeping track of care issues using eHealth systems: it’s a question of time
AbstractPrimary brain tumors (PBTs) are rare but have a great impact on both patient and family caregiver wellbeing. Supporting caregivers can help them to continue their caregiving activities to maintain the patients ’ best possible level of quality of life. Efforts to improve PBT caregiver wellbeing should take into account country- or culture-specific differences in care issues and supportive care needs to serve larger caregiver groups. We aimed to explore PBT caregivers’ satisfaction with the current supp ortive care provision, as well as their thoughts on monitoring their care issues with both paper-based and digi...

Ethical considerations of neuro-oncology trial design in the era of precision medicine
AbstractThe field of oncology is currently undergoing a paradigm shift. Advances in the understanding of tumor biology and in tumor sequencing technology have contributed to the shift towards precision medicine, the therapeutic framework of targeting the individual oncogenic changes each tumor harbors. The success of precision medicine therapies, such as targeted kinase inhibitors and immunotherapies, in other cancers have motivated studies in brain cancers. The high specificity and cost of these therapies also encourage a shift in clinical trial design away from randomized control trials towards smaller, more exclusive ea...

Narrative Medicine perspectives on patient identity and integrative care in neuro-oncology
AbstractNarrative Medicine sessions can encourage patients to rediscover personal identity and meaning by telling or writing their stories. We explored this process to improve care and quality of life for brain cancer patients in an academic neuro-oncology program. Brain cancer and its treatments may threaten a patient ’s quality of life and sense of self in many ways, including impaired cognitive skills, loss of memory, reduced coordination, and limited capacity for self-expression. The impact of symptoms and side effects on quality of life must be evaluated in terms of each patient’s identity and may be unde rstood i...
