Opportunities and Capabilities to Perform Pelvic Floor Muscle Training Are Critical for Participation: a Systematic Review and Qualitative Meta-Synthesis
CONCLUSION: Increasing opportunities and capabilities for engagement in PFMT are the most important factors in optimizing positive behavior changes. Ways to address these factors include clear patient communication to boost confidence in skill acquisition and using technology to encourage autonomy and improve convenience. Future research should address the impact of health professionals' beliefs about patient participation, assessing the role of social values and gender roles, and explore the timing of the implementation of behavioral change strategies to improve PFMT.IMPACT: This is believed to be the first systematic rev...

Players' and parents' perceptions of injury in elite Northern Irish schools' rugby - A qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Schools' rugby players and their parents are aware of injury to some extent, however players' and parents' knowledge and understanding of injury is based on and informed by personal experience, not the evidence base. Whist they are aware of injury, many players will seek to push their fears to the back of their mind. However, for those players who have suffered severe injury, they are concerned about the risk of reinjury.PMID:37084665 | DOI:10.1016/j.ptsp.2023.04.005

Can Physical Therapy centred on cognitive and behavioural principles improve Pain Self-Efficacy in symptomatic lumbar isthmic spondylolisthesis? A case series
Pain-related self-efficacy is defined as “the beliefs held by people with chronic pain that were able to carry out certain activities, even when experiencing pain”, and it is considered a relevant mediator in the relationship between pain and disability in chronic low back pain. This case series describes a treatment aiming to improve pain self-efficacy in patients with symptomatic lumbar spondylolisthesis.

Outcome of group physical therapy treatment for non-specific low back pain patients can be predicted with the cross-culturally adapted and validated Hungarian version STarT back screening tool.
CONCLUSION: The successful cross-cultural adaptation was followed by the validity analysis and as a result the Hungarian version of the STarT Back Tool proved to be a reliable and valid tool in the identification of risk groups of chronicity for patients with low back pain. Patients allocated to the high-risk group were more likely experiencing poor outcome at 3 months follow up, thus it can be used to predict outcome if treated with group physical therapy. Implication for rehabilitation Low back pain is a multifactorial disease where physical and psychosocial risk factors play a role in the development and prognosis of ...

Knowledge and management of low back pain as running-related injuries among Italian physical therapists: findings from a national survey.
CONCLUSIONS: Widespread knowledge of clinical and theoretical management of LBP in runners-patients has emerged among Italian OMPTs. The OMPTs' academic background agrees with the recent literature and therefore highlights the paucity of studies related to LBP as running-related injuries. We’ve updated this post that ran a few years ago because, as we all know, every day is a new learning opportunity ― and we feel smarter now. Plus once in awhile, it’s good to share collective wisdom. ‘ Just Heartbreaking ’ : Social Distancing Creates Challenge For Students With Special Needs
BEVERLY (CBS) – Learning is difficult right now for all students, but it’s especially hard for those with special needs who require hands-on education. “Honestly social distancing and not going out to eat or to the movies was really pretty much our normal life,” said James Pearson. For the Pearson family of Beverly, it’s not the boredom or staying inside these days that’s painful – it’s having no way of explaining to their son why it’s like this. “Logan is 18-years-old now. He has a severe case of autism so mentally he functions along the lines of a 12-month-old,” Logan’s dad James explained. Ca...
