Attitudes Toward and Management of Fibromyalgia: A National Survey of Canadian Rheumatologists and Critical Appraisal of Guidelines
Conclusions Canadian rheumatologists largely do not provide primary care for fibromyalgia. Most adhere to guideline recommendations for management of fibromyalgia, but few endorse these interventions as effective. Further research, including updating of the 2012 Canadian Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of fibromyalgia, is required to inform this disconnect.

Differences in daily objective physical activity and sedentary time between women with self-reported fibromyalgia and controls: results from the Canadian health measures survey
AbstractPhysical activity and sedentary behaviors are important modifiable factors that influence health and quality of life in women with fibromyalgia. The purpose of this study was to compare objectively assessed physical activity and sedentary time in women self-reporting fibromyalgia with a control group. Data were drawn from the Canadian Health Measures Survey cycles 1, 2, and 3 conducted by Statistics Canada. We included women aged 18 to 79  years with complete accelerometer data. We performed one-way analyses of covariance (adjusted-for socio-demographic and health factors) to determine mean differences in physical...

Prevalence of Pelvic Floor Disorders in the Fibromyalgia Population: A Systematic Review.
In conclusion, the small number of eligible studies and the variety of pelvic floor outcomes reported limited formation of conclusive prevalence of pelvic floor disorders in the fibromyalgia population. From the small number of studied patients, there may be a higher prevalence of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and gynaecological concerns in women with fibromyalgia. Client ‐centered lifestyle intervention for men with fibromyalgia syndrome: Is efficacy independent of gender?
ConclusionThe client-centered lifestyle intervention was shown to be effective in fibromyalgia severity, occupational performance, occupational satisfaction, anxiety, depression, and life satisfaction of both men and women with FMS. Levels of progress in occupational participation could show gender-based differences. The study suggests that more attention should be paid to psychosocial factors when assessing men's occupational participation and planning appropriate interventions.

Association between daily level of objective physical activity and C-Reactive protein in a representative national sample of adults with self-reported diagnosed arthritis or fibromyalgia
ConclusionsDaily moderate to vigorous physical activity and step count were associated with high sensitivity C-Reactive protein levels that were below the clinical threshold. Given the positive outcomes of physical activity on health, adults with arthritis and fibromyalgia may benefit from these specific recommendations.

Chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia in Canada: prevalence and associations with six health status indicators.
CONCLUSION: Co-occurrence of CFS and FM and having other chronic conditions were strongly related to poorer health status and accounted for much of the differences in health status. Understanding factors contributing to improved quality of life in people with CFS and/or FM, particularly in those with both conditions and other comorbidities, may be an important area for future research. Developing and Implementing a Community-Based Model of Care for Fibromyalgia: A Feasibility Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Our community-based model of care for FM was successfully implemented. Further testing of the model will be required with a larger sample to determine its effectiveness, although promising results were apparent in our feasibility study. PMID: 28790879 [PubMed - in process]

Use of medical cannabis by patients with fibromyalgia in Canada after cannabis legalisation: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: FM patients have commonly used MC, with more than half continuing use. Reported symptom relief was substantial. Cigarette smoking and recreational cannabis use may play a facilitatory role in MC use in FM. Adjunctive MC may be a treatment consideration for some FM patients.PMID:33938797
