Integrin β5 subunit regulates hyperglycemia-induced vascular endothelial cell apoptosis through FoxO1-mediated macroautophagy
CONCLUSION: The study revealed that high glucose-induced endothelial cell apoptosis was positively regulated by ITGB5, which suggested that ITGB5 could potentially be used to predict and treat DM-related vascular complications.PMID:37500497 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002769

Characterizing the Penumbras of White Matter Hyperintensities and Their Associations With Cognitive Function in Patients With Subcortical Vascular Mild Cognitive Impairment
Conclusion In this study, reduced CBF and FA and increased MD in the inner NAWM layers for both PVWMH and DWMH suggested extensive WM alterations beyond the visible WM lesions commonly observed on clinical MRI of svMCI subjects. CBF penumbras cover more extensive WM at risk than DTI penumbras, suggesting the likelihood that compromised CBF precedes white matter integrity changes, and CBF penumbras may be a potential target for the prevention of further microstructural white matter damage. The imaging parameters investigated, however, did not correlate to cognition. Author Contributions YZ, QX, and XG conceived and desig...

Effects of Chinese character size, number of characters per line, and number of menu items on visual search task on tablet computer displays for different age groups
Publication date: July 2019Source: International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics, Volume 72Author(s): Chih-Yu Hsiao, Mao-Jiun Wang, You-Jia Liu, Chien-Chi ChangAbstractThe goal of this study was to investigate the effects of Chinese character size, number of characters per line, and number of menu items on visual search task performance on a tablet computer for different age group users. Forty-two participants participated the visual search experiment. Gender, age group (younger, middle-aged, and older), Chinese character size (15, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25 point), number of characters per line (2–5 characters, 9–14 char...

Danlou Tablet Activates Autophagy of Vascular Adventitial Fibroblasts Through PI3K/Akt/mTOR to Protect Cells From Damage Caused by Atherosclerosis
Front Pharmacol. 2021 Nov 18;12:730525. doi: 10.3389/fphar.2021.730525. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTDanlou tablet (DLT), a commercial Chinese patent medicine, has been widely used to treat cardiovascular diseases for many years. Atherosclerosis (AS) is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease. Increasing evidence indicates that autophagy plays a vital role in the development of AS. Here we investigated whether DLT could activate autophagy to improve AS and further clarified its underlying mechanisms. In an ApoE-/- mice model, the results of Oil red O, Masson's trichrome, and H&E staining techniques showed that DLT sign...

Environmental dose of 16 priority-controlled PAHs mixture induce damages of vascular endothelial cells involved in oxidative stress and inflammation
Toxicol In Vitro. 2021 Dec 9:105296. doi: 10.1016/j.tiv.2021.105296. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEpidemiological studies have shown that cardiovascular diseases caused by PM2.5 pollution account for the second death rate in China. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are one important group of persistent organic pollutants absorbed on PM2.5. Though individual PAH is related to vascular disease, the relationship between environmental PAHs exposure and vascular damages is still unclear. To explore the effect of PAHs on blood vessel, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) are treated with 16 priority-controlled ...

The clinical effects of resveratrol on atherosclerosis treatment and its effect on the expression of NADPH oxidase complex genes in vascular smooth muscle cell line
In this study, the clinical effects of resveratrol were considered on atherosclerosis treatment and its effect on the expression of NADPH oxidase complex genes was performed in the vascular smooth muscle cell line. For this purpose, 120 Chinese Patients prone to atherosclerosis participated for 12 months. These patients were divided into two groups of 60 patients. The first group was treated to the placebo and the second group was treated to 100 mg/day resveratrol for 12 months. Also, the expression of gp91Phox and P22Phox subunits of NADPH oxidase complex was evaluated in vascular smooth muscle cells by real-time PCR tech...
