Effectiveness of acupuncture for patients with vascular dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture is probably helpful in vascular stroke, but strong supportive data are not yet available. Acupuncture should be used cautiously, owing to the analysis of this study based on low to moderate evidence. Further high-quality, large-scale RCTs should be conducted.PMID:35843473 | DOI:10.1016/j.ctim.2022.102857

Effects of COL1A1 and SYTL2 on inflammatory cell infiltration and poor extracellular matrix remodeling of the vascular wall in thoracic aortic aneurysm
CONCLUSIONS: COL1A1 and SYTL2 may serve as diagnostic marker genes for TAA. The upregulation of SYTL2 and COL1A1 may be involved in the inflammatory infiltration of the vessel wall and poor extracellular matrix remodeling, promoting the progression of TAA.PMID:37640670 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002808

Vascular calcification burden of Chinese patients with chronic kidney disease: methodology of a cohort study
This study aims to investigate the prevalence of vascular calcification and assess the predictive value of vascular calcification in patients with stage 5 chronic kidney disease on dialysis in China.Methods/DesignThis is a national, multicenter, non-interventional, prospective cohort study planning to recruit 1520 patients with end-stage renal disease receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis for at least 6 months in 24 dialysis centers in China. All the patients provided written informed consents before participating in this study. It will include a baseline visit and 24 months follow-up period with 4 other visits at ...

Associations between Greenness, Impervious Surface Area, and Nighttime Lights on Biomarkers of Vascular Aging in Chennai, India
Conclusion: Greenness, ISA, and NTL were associated with increased SBP, DBP, and cPP, and with reduced FMD, suggesting a possible additional EVA pathway for the relationship between urbanization and increased CVD prevalence in urban India. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP541 Received: 20 May 2016 Revised: 03 January 2017 Accepted: 23 January 2017 Published: 02 August 2017 Address correspondence to K.J. Relationship between Serum Uric Acid and Vascular Function and Structure Markers and Gender Difference in a Real-World Population of China-From Beijing Vascular Disease Patients Evaluation Study (BEST) Study.
CONCLUSIONS: 1. All vascular parameters were higher in males than females. There was no gender difference in the relationship between UA and vascular markers except in ABI. 2. UA was independently linearly correlated with CAVI. 3. In people with higher UA level, the risk of higher CF-PWV increased. Therefore, higher UA may influence the vascular function mainly instead of vascular structure. PMID: 28904249 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Australian Authorities Regret the ‘Unacceptable’ End to MH370 Search
(SYDNEY) – Australian authorities said they deeply regret not finding missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and the ongoing mystery is “unacceptable,” in their final report on the unsuccessful search which was published on Tuesday. “The reasons for the loss of MH370 cannot be established with certainty until the aircraft is found,” the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) said in the report. “It is almost inconceivable and certainly societally unacceptable in the modern aviation era… for a large commercial aircraft to be missing and for the world not to know with certainty wh...

The associations of stroke, transient ischemic attack, and/or stroke-related recurrent vascular events with Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions:In patients with TIA and first ischemic stroke, elevated Lp-PLA2 activity levels were associated with recurrent vascular events. And in the general population elevated Lp-PLA2 levels were associated with the risk of stroke, although the association between Lp-PLA2 activity levels and the risk of stroke was less profound compared with the corresponding association of stroke risk with the Lp-PLA2 mass levels. Background: Studies on stroke and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) have produced conflicting results. Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the associations of Lp-PLA2 levels ...

Inhibiting trophoblast PAR-1 overexpression suppresses sFlt-1-induced anti-angiogenesis and abnormal vascular remodeling: a possible therapeutic approach for preeclampsia
AbstractSTUDY QUESTIONIs it possible to improve vascular remodeling by inhibiting the excessive expression of protease-activated receptor 1 (PAR-1) in trophoblast of abnormal placenta?SUMMARY ANSWERInhibition of trophoblast PAR-1 overexpression may promote placental angiogenesis and vascular remodeling, offering an alternative therapeutic approach for preeclampsia.WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADYPAR-1 is high-affinity receptor of thrombin. Thrombin increases sFlt-1 secretion in trophoblast via the activation of PAR-1. It is reported that the expression of both thrombin and PAR-1 expression are increased in placentas of preeclampsia p...

Controlled in vivo Bone Formation and Vascularization Using Ultrasound-Triggered Release of Recombinant Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor From Poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolicacid) Microbubbles
In conclusion, we demonstrated the use of VEGF-loaded MB for enhancing calvarial defects by UTMD burst release. Results showed that VEGF-loaded MB combined with UTMD promoted osteogenesis in vitro and enhanced bone repair in vivo compared with those groups without UTMD treatment. Ethics Statement This study was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the Southern Medical University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. The protocol was approved by the Southern Medical University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Author Contri...
