Cost-effectiveness analysis of autogenous arteriovenous fistula, arteriovenous graft, and tunneled-cuffed catheter for hemodialysis in patients with end-stage kidney disease in Southern China
CONCLUSION: These findings illustrate the value of AVF given its relative cost-effectiveness to other hemodialysis modalities. Although AVG costs much more than TCC for slightly higher QALYs than TCC, AVG still has a greater advantage over TCC for patients with longer life expectancy due to its lower probability of death.PMID:36540049 | DOI:10.1177/11297298221143010

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 1602: Presence of Depression Is Associated with Functional Impairment in Middle-Aged and Elderly Chinese Adults with Vascular Disease/Diabetes Mellitus & mdash;A Cross-Sectional Study
Conclusions: Depression is associated with functional decline in middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals with vascular disease/diabetes mellitus. Identifying mediational factors and preventative strategies to reduce concurrent depression in persons with vascular diseases should be a priority therapeutic vista.

Atypical presentation of forearm compartment syndrome in a case of vascular type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Case Reports Plast Surg Hand Surg. 2023 Jan 20;10(1):2158833. doi: 10.1080/23320885.2022.2158833. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTA 30-year-old Chinese man with vascular type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome presents with spontaneous right forearm compartment syndrome due to pseudoaneurysms along the radial artery. Emergency fasciotomy and reconstruction of the radial artery with a saphenous vein graft were performed. Genetic test showed a heterozygous DNA change c. 1852 G > C in COL3A1 gene.PMID:36698728 | PMC:PMC9870015 | DOI:10.1080/23320885.2022.2158833

Analysis of Potential Mechanism of Herbal Formula Taohong Siwu Decoction against Vascular Dementia Based on Network Pharmacology and Molecular Docking
In this study, a network pharmacology approach together with molecular docking validation was used to explore the probable mechanism of action of TSD against VaD. A total of 44 active components, 202 potential targets of components, and 3,613 VaD-related targets including 161 intersecting were obtained. The potential chemical components including kaempferol, baicalein, beta-carotene, luteolin, quercetin, and beta-sitosterol involved in the inflammatory response, oxidative stress, and apoptosis might have potential therapeutic effects on the treatment of VaD. The potential core targets including AKT1, CASP3, IL1β, JUN, and...

Comprehensive retinal vascular measurements: time in range is associated with peripheral retinal venular calibers in type 2 diabetes in China
ConclusionsThe TIR was associated with adverse changes to peripheral retinal venules but not central and middle vessels in patients with type 2 diabetes, suggesting that peripheral retinal vascular calibers may be affected by glycemic fluctuations earlier.

Puerarin Improves Vascular Insulin Resistance and Cardiovascular Remodeling in Salt-Sensitive Hypertension.
Abstract Puerarin is an isoflavonoid isolated from the Chinese herb, Kudzu roots (also known as Gegen), which has been widely used for the treatment of hypertensive diseases and diabetic mellitus in traditional Chinese medicine. Dahl salt-sensitive (DS) rat is a genetic model of salt-sensitive hypertension with cardiovascular injury and vascular insulin resistance. Here, we investigated whether puerarin improved vascular insulin resistance and attenuated cardiac and aortic remodeling in salt-sensitive hypertension. DS rats were given a normal (NS) or high salt diet (HS) for five weeks. An additional group of DS ra...

Protective effect of Shouwu Yizhi decoction against vascular dementia by promoting angiogenesis
Publication date: October 2017 Source:Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines, Volume 15, Issue 10 Author(s): Xiao-Ni YANG, Chang-Sheng LI, Chao CHEN, Xiao-Yong TANG, Guang-Qing CHENG, Xia LI Abstract Shouwu is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with neuroprotective effect. Shouwu Yizhi decoction (SYD) was designed based on TCM theory. However, little is known about the roles of SYD in Vascular dementia (VaD). The present study aimed to evaluate the potential effects of SYD on the vascular cognitive impairment and explore the underlying mechanism by establishing focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rat model to induce...

Mitochondrial factor and cell cytokines associate with TCM syndrome scale in vascular dementia patients.
This study was aimed at studying the correlations between the serum mitochondrial factor and cell cytokines with TCM Syndrome Scale in vascular dementia. According to the inclusion criteria we collected 108 vascular dementia patients which were divided into the kidney essence deficiency pattern and phlegm turbidity blocking orifice pattern based on the TCM Syndrome Scale. We measured serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-18 (IL-18) concentration using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and serum malondialdelyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) was quantified according to i...

Pharmacological Effects and Mechanisms of Chinese Medicines Modulating NLRP3 Inflammasomes in Ischemic Cardio/Cerebral Vascular Disease.
Abstract Cardio/cerebral-vascular diseases seriously threaten human health and are the leading cause of death. As such, there is great interest in identifying a potential mechanism that controls the development process of cardio/cerebral vascular diseases. Present studies demonstrate that inflammasomes play an important role in the process of ischemic cardio/cerebral vascular diseases (ICCVDs). Among the pathological process of ICCVDs, inflammasomes activated the sterile inflammatory response that accelerated the development of diseases and aggravated the acute lesion of tissue. As the most thoroughly studied infl...

Baicalin relaxes vascular smooth muscle and lowers blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats
Publication date: March 2019Source: Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, Volume 111Author(s): Liliqiang Ding, Chenglin Jia, Yong Zhang, Wenjian Wang, Weiliang Zhu, Yu Chen, Teng ZhangAbstractScutellaria baicalensis Georgi is an extensively used medicinal herb for the treatment of hypertension in traditional Chinese medicine. Baicalin is the most abundant flavone compound present in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and endothelium-dependent vascular activities of baicalin have been suggested. However, the pharmacological implications and mechanisms of baicalin under hypertensive conditions remain to be investigated. The current stu...
