The association between vascular endothelial growth factor gene polymorphisms and stroke: A PRISMA-compliant meta-analysis
Conclusion: Our findings suggest that VEGF +936C/T and −2578C/A might be related to the risk of stroke, especially in the Asian population, but not −1154G/A.

Guide wire electrode versus liquid electrode for intravascular electrocardiography-guided central venous catheterization in adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: Due to the small number and low quality of identified studies, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions on the relative effectiveness and safety of guide wire versus liquid electrodes for the placement of central venous catheters in adults. More well-designed studies are needed in the future. PMID: 31422729 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Xiaoxuming Decoction Regulates Vascular Function by Modulating G Protein-Coupled Receptors: A Molecular Docking Study
In this study, XXMD was found to induce relaxation of the basilar artery rings of rats precontracted by 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in vitro, in a dose-dependent manner. The modulation of vascular tone and the process of cerebral ischemia are mediated via the interactions between G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their ligands, including 5-HT, angiotensin II (Ang II), and urotensin II (UII). Thus, the potential synergistic effects of the different components of XXMD on the regulation of vasoconstriction and vasodilation were further investigated by molecular docking based on network pharmacology. We constructed and an...

Berberine: A Review of its Pharmacokinetics Properties and Therapeutic Potentials in Diverse Vascular Diseases
Front Pharmacol. 2021 Nov 3;12:762654. doi: 10.3389/fphar.2021.762654. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTTraditional Chinese medicine plays a significant role in the treatment of various diseases and has attracted increasing attention for clinical applications. Vascular diseases affecting vasculature in the heart, cerebrovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and diabetic complications have compromised quality of life for affected individuals and increase the burden on health care services. Berberine, a naturally occurring isoquinoline alkaloid form Rhizoma coptidis, is widely used in China as a folk medicine for its antibacterial and ...

Exploring the mechanism of Epimedii folium and notoginseng radix against vascular dementia based on network pharmacology and molecular docking analysis: pharmacological mechanisms of EH-PN for VD
This study used the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology (TCMSP) database to collect the active ingredients and potential drug targets of HF and NR, the Uniprot database to convert drug target names into gene names, GeneCards, Drugbank, Therapeutic Target Database, and Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man database to collect the potential disease targets of VD, and then combined them with the drug targets to construct the HF-NR-VD protein-protein interaction (PPI) network by Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting (STRING). Cytoscape (version 3.7.1) was used to perform cluster analysis of the PPI network. ...

Tanshinone IIa attenuates vascular calcification through inhibition of NF- κB and β-catenin signaling pathways
This study aims to investigate whether Tanshinone IIa can inhibit vascular calcification using high phosphate-induced vascular smooth muscle cell and aortic ring calcification model, and high dose vitamin D3 (vD3)-induced mouse models of vascular calcification. Alizarin red staining and calcium quantitative assay showed that Tanshinone IIa significantly inhibited high phosphate-induced vascular smooth muscle cell and aortic ring calcification. qPCR and Western blot showed that Tanshinone IIa attenuated the osteogenic transition of vascular smooth muscle cells. In addition, Tanshinone IIa also significantly inhibited high d...

Novel insights into modifiable risk factors for arteriovenous fistula failure and the importance of CKD lipid profile: A meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Our analysis indicates that the AVF failure may be related to the increase of TC/LDL-C and the decrease of HDL-C. Although current guidelines do not consider intensive lipid-lowering therapy as necessary in patients undergoing HD, our research indicates that patients with AVF undergoing HD may need regular TC/LDL-C-lowering therapy to prevent AVF failure. However, this issue still needs well designed prospective trials.PMID:36951426 | DOI:10.1177/11297298221115557
