Results of the treatment of aorto-iliac aneurysms with iliac branched stentgrafts
The use of iliac branched stentgrafts (IBS) to treat AAAs extending to the common iliac arteries (CIA) or isolated CIA aneurysms makes it possible to preserve the patency of the internal iliac arteries (IIA) and to reduce the risk of postoperative colic or pelvic ischemia and of buttock claudication. We evaluated the immediate and midterm results of BIS in two university centers of vascular surgery.

Celiprolol Treatment of Patients With Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
Introduction: Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (vEDS) is a monogenetic disease caused by a mutation in procollagen 3A1. Clinical manifestations are arterial ruptures and dissections, as well as spontaneous ruptures of the colon, oesophagus and uterus. Expected survival is short, in historical cohorts approximately 50 years. In 2010 a French-Belgian randomized controlled trial (RCT), including 53 patients, reported a hazard ratio of only 0.36 of arterial events if patients were treated with the betablocker celiprolol [1], combining β1-adrenoceptor antagonist and β2-adrenoceptor agonist actions.

Artificial intelligence to detect the patients eligible to vascular surgery
In the Hainaut-Cambr ésis region, a medical desert, a comparatively high death rate related to cardiovascular diseases in patients less than 65 years was observed, with an increase of 78% in women and 60% in men, compared to the whole Metropolitan France. An automatic computerized processing of medical data using artif icial intelligence could contribute to an early identification of the patients with vascular risk and to propose adapted screening and management programs.

Evaluation of vascular clinical competences with Objective Structured Clinical Examinations
Since the French reform of the 2nd cycle of medical studies, the evaluation of clinical competences is partly done with simulation. The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is the selected method and will represent 30% of the evaluation for residency. This work presents the specificities of OSCEs in vascular surgery and medicine for the 4th year students.

Cutaneous vascular lesions in the pediatric population: a review of laser surgery applications and lesion-specific device parameters
AbstractLaser surgery is becoming an increasingly efficacious and customizable treatment modality for the management of pediatric vascular lesions. Proper use requires a thorough understanding of the scientific principles of laser surgery and knowledge of the various lasers available. Moreover, each laser has a multitude of settings that can be employed to properly target the lesion at hand. Each patient will present with unique challenges and variations in the presentation of their vascular lesion. This requires understanding of the most effective laser to use for each lesion and the factors that may alter the desired dev...

Vaccination strategies for people living with inborn errors of metabolism in Brazil
CONCLUSIONS: All patients should receive age-appropriate immunizations in their respective schedules with minimal delay. The only situation when vaccination may be contraindicated is with oral rotavirus vaccine in hereditary fructose intolerance. Monitoring the levels of antibodies should be done to detect any immune dysfunction or the necessity for boosters. A personalized immunization schedule is ideal for patients with IEMs. The reference organizations could improve their recommendations to address all IEMs, not only some of them.PMID:36574955 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2022.12.001

Use of fibers in childhood constipation treatment: systematic review with meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: There is a scarcity of qualified studies to evaluate fiber supplementation in the treatment of childhood constipation, generating a low degree of confidence in estimating the real effect of this intervention on this population. Today, according to the current literature, adequate fiber intake should only be recommended for functional constipation, and fiber supplementation should not be prescribed in the diet of constipated children and adolescents. Socioeconomic inequalities in dementia risk among a French population-based cohort: quantifying the role of cardiovascular health and vascular events
This study aimed to investigate the role of cardiovascular health (CVH) and vascular events as potential contributors to socioeconomic inequalities in dementia using causal mediation analyses. We used data from the Three-City Cohort, a French population-based study with 12  years of follow-up, with active search of dementia cases and validated diagnosis. Individual socioeconomic status was assessed using education, occupation and income. A CVH score as defined by the American Heart Association and incident vascular events were considered separately as mediators. We p erformed multi-level Cox proportional and Aalen additiv...
