Intravenous caffeine citrate vs. magnesium sulfate for reducing pain in patients with acute migraine headache; a prospective quasi-experimental study.
CONCLUSIONS: It is likely that both intravenous caffeine and intravenous magnesium sulfate can reduce the severity of migraine headache. Moreover, intravenous magnesium sulfate at a dose of 2 g might be superior to intravenous caffeine citrate 60 mg for the short term management of migraine headache in emergency departments. A hybrid cardiac rehabilitation is as effective as a hospital-based program in reducing chest pain intensity and discomfort.
Conclusions: Traditional hospital-based CR delivery is still the first choice for treatment in developing countries. However, hybrid CR is as effective as a hospital-based program in reducing pain components and it includes only 38% of the total cost in comparison to hospital-based delivery. So, we recommend using hybrid CR according with the recommendations of American Heart Association about using CR for the management of angina symptoms. PMID: 29123621 [PubMed]

Spinal Anesthesia and Spinal Anesthesia with Subdiaphragmatic Lidocaine in Shoulder Pain Reduction for Gynecological Laparoscopic Surgery: A Randomized Clinical Trial.
CONCLUSION: The use of subdiaphragmatic lidocaine at the beginning of surgery combined with spinal anesthesia was not associated with a statistically significant difference in patients' postoperative VAS scores compared to spinal anesthesia and GA during and after gynecological surgical procedures. The study was registered in Iranian Registry of Clinical Trial by the number of IRCT2016022226698N1. PMID: 28932131 [PubMed - in process]

Why do Patients Engage in Pain Behaviors? A Qualitative Study Examining the Perspective of Patients and Partners
In conclusion, partners are more likely to attribute negative motives to the patient’s pain behaviors, which may lead to their hostility toward patients. The findings of this study provide new insights into motives of pain behaviors from the perspective of patients and partners, which can inform couple-based interventions in terms of effective pain communication.

Prevalence of chronic pain and contributing factors: a cross-sectional population-based study among 2,379 Iranian adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of chronic pain was relatively high in these adolescents. The results also provided basic and essential information about the contributing factors in this area. However, consideration of factors such as anxiety, depression, school problems, sleep, and physical activity are suggested in future longitudinal studies.PMID:36973970 | DOI:10.3344/kjp.22336
