Knowledge, risk perception and practices related to antibiotic resistance among patent medicine vendors in Sokoto metropolis, Nigeria
Conclusion: Despite high levels of knowledge of the causes, prevention, and perception of the risks associated with antibiotics resistance, practices favorable to its development were very prevalent among PMVs in Sokoto, Nigeria. Government should regulate and closely monitor PMVs' practices in order to avert the looming crisis in medical practice that will become inevitable if there are no potent antibiotics.

Correlation between circulating level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and insulin resistance in Nigerian women with gestational diabetes mellitus
Conclusion: It is concluded that among pregnant Nigerian women with GDM in this study, increased serum TNF-α level is associated with greater insulin resistance independent of age and body mass index.

Perception and utilization of insecticide-treated mosquito net among caregivers of children in Abakaliki, Nigeria
Conclusion: The study observed that awareness and ownership of ITN are high among study participants, but its utilization was suboptimal compared to RBM target for 2010 (80.0%). Health education and free distribution of ITNs should be further strengthened particularly among mothers of childbearing age and younger children.

Low case fatality during 2017 cholera outbreak in Borno State, North Eastern Nigeria
Conclusion: This study reports on the largest ever documented cholera outbreak in five LGAs in Borno State. The outbreak was focused in LGA hit hardest by the destructive activities of insurgents and then spread to neighboring LGAs. The low CFR recorded in this cholera outbreak was achieved through timely detection, reporting, and response by the coordinated efforts of the EOC established by the SMoH that harmonized the outbreak response.

Prevalence of, and risk factors for erectile dysfunction in male type 2 diabetic outpatient attendees in Enugu, South East Nigeria
Conclusions: The prevalence of ED is high. Lifestyle interventions targeted at improving glycemic control and weight loss may reduce the burden of this complication. We recommend objective ED screening using standard but brief instruments as part of routine evaluation of men with T2DM.

Plantar ulcer occurrence among leprosy patients in Northern Nigeria: A study of contributing factors
Conclusion: Ulcer still remains a major problem among leprosy patients, especially RFT (76.6%) and most cases are provided with footwear late. Self-care knowledge is higher among cases than controls.

Hemorrhoidal disease: Predilection sites, pattern of presentation, and treatment
Conclusion: The most common anatomical site of external haemorrhoids is the right posterior quadrant position; frequently, multiple sites are simultaneously affected. Goligher classification Grade 1 hemorrhoids are effectively treated by injection sclerotherapy using 50% dextrose solution; a cheap and physiologic sclerotherapy agent.

Pattern of noma (cancrum oris) and its risk factors in Northwestern Nigeria: A hospital-based retrospective study
Conclusion: This study showed a high burden of noma in Northwestern Nigeria, mostly among children aged 1–5 years, and with soft-tissue lesions involving multiple sites. Measles and malnutrition were the major risk factors identified, and the disease trend showed a wave-like pattern. There is an urgent need to eliminate the disease in Nigeria through prevention and control of infectious diseases and malnutrition.

A comparison of leadership competencies among doctors practicing in public and private hospitals in Jos metropolis of Plateau State, Nigeria

Spectrum of high risk human papillomavirus types in women in Kaduna State, Nigeria
Conclusion: The findings from this study have shown that there is a high possibility of detecting the DNA of hrHPV in women that are infected with HPV and those that have cervical dysplasia, which points out the possibility of these women developing cervical cancer.
