The Link between Magnesium Supplements and Statin Medication in Dyslipidemic Patients
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2023 Apr 5;45(4):3146-3167. doi: 10.3390/cimb45040205.ABSTRACTMany investigations have discovered a connection between statins and magnesium supplements. On one hand, increasing research suggests that chronic hypomagnesemia may be an important factor in the etiology of some metabolic illnesses, including obesity and overweight, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, alterations in lipid metabolism, and low-grade inflammation. Chronic metabolic problems seem to be prevented by a high Mg intake combined with diet and/or supplements. On the other hand, it is known that statins low...

Exploration of treatments for subarachnoid hemorrhage
J Biomed Res (Middlet). 2022;3(1):48-55.ABSTRACTSubarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) continues to be a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, with cerebral vasospasm as a common etiology of worse clinical progression. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and review the current literature concerning the effective treatment of SAH. The treatment options for SAH are expanding as new therapeutic targets are identified. Nimodipine is the primary medication prescribed due to its neuroprotective properties. In addition, certain drugs can enhance lymphatic flow and influence the recovery process, such as Dexmedetomidine, SSRIs, a...

Co-culture of BMSCs and HUVECs with simvastatin-loaded gelatin nanosphere/chitosan coating on Mg alloy for osteogenic differentiation and vasculogenesis
In this study, magnesium alloy WE43 is coated on both sides with gelatin nanosphere/chitosan (GNs/CTS), a coating enhanced by incorporating simvastatin (SIM). SIM-loaded GNs/CTS coated magnesium alloy can promote the osteogenic differentiation of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). BMSCs and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) are co-cultured through transwell systems. The release of SIM from the coating is found to increase the secretion of chemokine and angiogenic factors from BMSCs, which promote the migration and tube formation of HUVECs, respectively. Bone morphogenetic protein secreted by HUVECs is seen ...

Retrospective analysis of renal prognosis in elderly coronary artery disease patients complicated with renal insufficiency
CONCLUSIONS: In the elderly coronary artery disease patients who had renal insufficiency, antiplatelet agents and statin have non-adverse effects on renal function; lower medication rate of renin-angiotensin blocker were found in patients with either worsening renal function or heart failure. Anemia, malnutrition and worsening cardiac function are risk factors of renal function deterioration and mortality.PMID:34606471 | DOI:10.18632/aging.203579

Delayed cerebral ischaemia prevention and treatment after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: a systematic review
We present an update of recent literature on the current status of prevention and treatment strategies for DCI after aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage. A systematic literature search of three databases (PubMed, ISI Web of Science, and Embase) was performed. Human clinical trials assessing treatment strategies, published in the last 5 yr, were included based on full-text analysis. Study data were extracted using tables depicting study type, sample size, and outcome variables. We identified 49 studies meeting our inclusion criteria. Clazosentan, magnesium, and simvastatin have been tested in large high-quality trials but f...
