C-C Motif Chemokine 8 promotes angiogenesis in vascular endothelial cells.
CONCLUSIONS: C-C Motif Chemokine 8 could promote both in vitro and in vivo angiogenesis. C-C motif chemokine receptor 2 played an important role in the activation of C-C Motif Chemokine 8 and extracellular regulated MAP kinase 1/2 signalling pathway was involved in this mechanism. Outcomes of patients with aortic vascular graft and endograft infections initially contra-indicated for complete graft explantation
Median survival was approximately 3 years with a 28.4% rate of salvage surgery in this bicentric retrospective observational study of 74 patients with aortic vascular graft and endograft infections who were initially turned down for complete graft removal. Malnutrition, hemorrhagic shock, aorto-enteric fistulae, fungal coinfection, and infection with resistant micro-organisms were significantly associated with worse survival without sepsis and should become important points for discussion to help decide management strategies during multidisciplinary team meetings.

Association Between Complications After Vascular Surgery and Prolonged Postoperative Opioid Use
Few studies have investigated the long-term risk of opioid use after major vascular surgery, and, to the best of our knowledge, no study has investigated the potential association between the occurrence of major complications and prolonged opioid use. We analyzed a population-based database linked to a prescription database to investigate the factors associated with prolonged opioid use after major vascular surgery.

Outcomes for Ruptured AAA (REVAR And Open AAA Repair) Are Favorable if Performed by Vascular Surgeons Compared with General Surgeons
Open repair for ruptured AAA (ROAR) has been the standard treatment. Vascular surgeons (VS) have pioneered REVAR over past two decades. Gradually, general surgeons (GS) have also learned this technique. The purpose of this study was to review the nationwide trends among specialties preforming operations for rAAA and outcomes.

Shared quality data are associated with increased protamine use and reduced bleeding complications after carotid endarterectomy in the Vascular Study Group of New England
Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate whether protamine usage after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) increased within the Vascular Study Group of New England (VSGNE) in response to studies indicating that protamine reduces bleeding complications associated with CEA without increasing the risk of stroke. Methods: We reviewed 10,059 CEAs, excluding concomitant coronary bypass, performed within the VSGNE from January 2003 to July 2012. Protamine use and reoperation for bleeding were evaluated monthly using statistical process control. Twelve centers and 77 surgeons entering the VSGNE between 2003 and 2008 were classifi...

Amplatzer vascular plug for occlusion or flow reduction of hemodialysis arteriovenous access
Conclusions: The results of this short preliminary study suggest that plug insertion for occlusion or for flow reduction in a hemodialysis AVA constitutes a reasonable alternative to coil insertion or to open surgery in selected patients.

The Effect of Different β-Blockers on Vascular Graft Nitric Oxide Levels: Comparison of Nebivolol Versus Metoprolol
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the vasodilating β-blocker nebivolol and the cardioselective β-blocker metoprolol on nitric oxide (NO) levels at vascular graft endothelium and vasa vasorum compared to controls in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery.

Comparison of a Vascular Study Group of New England (VSGNE) Risk Prediction Model With the Established Risk Prediction Models of In-Hospital Mortality After Elective Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repair
Elective abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair can lead to in-hospital mortality, but no agreement exists on the most accurate predictive model for in-hospital mortality. The purpose of this study was to develop a risk prediction model using Vascular Study Group of New England (VSGNE) data and compare that with established models.
