Vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) in vascular inflammatory diseases
Vasa. 2022 Oct 6. doi: 10.1024/0301-1526/a001031. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACT Vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) also known as amino oxidase copper containing 3 (AOC3) is a pro-inflammatory and versatile molecule with adhesive and enzymatic properties. VAP-1 is a primary amine oxidase belonging to the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) family, which catalyzes the oxidation of primary amines leading to the production of ammonium, formaldehyde, methylglyoxal, and hydrogen peroxide. VAP-1 is mainly expressed by endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, adipocytes and pericytes. It is involved in a repertoire of bi...

The Three-Dimensional Job Search
When most nurse job-seekers are in the market for a new nursing position, their job search process can be somewhat one-dimensional. From my perspective, a three-dimensional job search strategy is generally much more effective. And when it comes to career development, it ' s the same thing. One-dimensionsality breeds one-dimensional results -- why not try something more powerful? The One-Dimensional Job SearchIn a one-dimensional job search process, it kind of looks like this: you get up in the morning, make a cup of coffee, eat breakfast, and open your computer. You then peruse job boards like Indeed and Monster looking for...

Quality of Care Measures for the Vascular Surgery Patient
Providing high-quality care to patients with vascular disease is a goal for all vascular surgeons and affiliated healthcare providers. We know that high quality care delivered to patients before, during and after vascular surgery translates into better clinical outcomes, lower costs and improved patient satisfaction [1]. But what is not always clear is how to define and measure the quality of care vascular surgery patients receive. Vascular providers need to know how to assess quality of care, understand which specific quality measures can be applied to vascular surgery, and learn how to identify new areas for quality improvement.
