Analysis of the relationship between placental histopathological aspects of preterm and term birth
CONCLUSIONS: Any direct proportional link between the clinical maternal-fetal and histological elements yet studied must be considered. Thus, establishing an antepartum risk group can prevent a poor pregnancy outcome.PMID:36374141 | DOI:10.47162/RJME.63.2.07

The microvascular alterations in frontal cortex during treatment with antipsychotics: a post-mortem study.
CONCLUSIONS: The pathological data of our study raises the hypothesis for the pathogenic stages at the level of microvessels in the frontal cortex of the patients with schizophrenia or schizophrenia-spectrum disorders treated with D2-blocking antipsychotics: a stage with functional, reversible alterations that may be correlated with the impairments of working memory and presence of extrapyramidal symptoms and a lesional, irreversible stage with significant deterioration of cognition and global functioning. Further studies are needed to verify this hypothesis. PMID: 27516025 [PubMed - in process]

Ultrastructure and histomorphometric analysis of human umbilical cord vessels in preeclampsia: a potential role of VEGF, VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2.
CONCLUSIONS: Altered tissue expression of VEGF and its receptors in the UC vessels could play a crucial role in disturbing the UC vascular endothelium, smooth muscles and measurements and this may underlie the existence of preeclampsia. PMID: 27833959 [PubMed - in process]

Visceral and tissular reactivity in acute heart failure due to supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in a young patient.
Authors: Beznă MC, Cârstea D, Beznă M, Istrătoaie O, Deliu IC, Melinte PR Abstract Observation of major pathological alterations in a young person involves etiological and clinical justifications, in order to properly assess, treat and control these conditions. The aim of this paper is to present severe, acute pathological lesions, installed in a young person, secondary to hypodiastolic heart failure, due to persistent supraventricular tachyarrhythmia, triggered by a post-traumatic external stimulus, with complete remission post-electrical conversion. Pathological and clinical modification are revealed, in a yo...

Highlighting the R1 and R2 VEGF receptors in placentas resulting from normal development pregnancies and from pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia.
This study analyzed the immunohistochemical (IHC) expression of the two VEGF receptors, R1 and R2, in pregnancies complicated by PE compared to pregnancies with a normal evolution. The pregnancies included into the study for the harvesting of placental tissue to be microscopically analyzed were divided into two groups: the group of physiological pregnancies (22 pregnancies) and the group of pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia (13 pregnancies). For the microscopic analysis, we used the Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE), Masson's trichrome and IHC stainings. The microscopic aspects of HE and Masson's trichrome stainings most common...

Determination of VEGFR-2 (KDR) -604A > G polymorphism in recurrent pregnancy loss.
CONCLUSIONS: VEGFR-2 (KDR) polymorphism does not influence RPL susceptibility in the study area of Dolj County, Romania. Therefore, further studies, which include a larger sample size, are required in order to clarify the role of KDR polymorphism in RPL. PMID: 30845284 [PubMed - in process]

Acute limb ischemia in neonates: etiology and morphological findings - short literature review.
In conclusion, ALI in neonates is a rare condition, usually associated with catheter use in intensive care unit setting, with multiple risk factors and conditions that increase the risk of occurrence. PMID: 30845282 [PubMed - in process]

Leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava. Our experience and a review of the literature.
We present the case of a patient with inferior vena cava leiomyosarcoma (IVCL), for whom the pathological diagnosis was different from the initially expected one, the tumor appearance on pre-operative imaging mimicking renal cell carcinoma. The intraoperative difficulty of approaching renal hilum and IVC was a factor suggesting the vascular origin of the tumor, which was confirmed at pathological analysis. The extensive defect in the IVC after tumor excision led to the decision of complete transverse suturing of IVC, as significant collateral venous circulation was already present. Because IVCL is a rare disease, there is ...

The role of mediating factors involved in angiogenesis during implantation
Rom J Morphol Embryol. 2020 Jul-Sep;61(3):665-672. doi: 10.47162/RJME.61.3.04.ABSTRACTAngiogenesis is a critical component of normal implantation and placentation and underlines the importance of vascularization in early pregnancy. Differentiated expression of angiogenesis factors in different decision tissues during different stages of implantation, indicates their involvement in the regulation of vascular remodeling and angiogenesis. Disorders in vascular development may play a role in the pathogenesis of recurrent abortions. The success of implantation, placentation and subsequent pregnancy evolution requires coordinati...
