Reduced Vascular Practice and Increased Cardiovascular Mortality for COVID-19 –Negative Patients
The aim of our study was to compare COVID-19 – and not-COVID-19–related mortality rates in two Italian regions during the pandemic period when the same isolation rules and therapeutic approaches were introduced for all hospitals in Italy. Risk factors for not-COVID-19–related deaths during the pandemic were analyzed; we tried to assess a possible correlation between reducing hospital visits and “deferrable” vascular operations and the increased cardiovascular mortality not related to COVID-19 infection.

Patient satisfaction with tele- and video- consultation in the COVID-19 era – a survey of vascular surgical patients
The COVID 19 pandemic has resulted in increasing use of telemedicine, due to the advantages of avoiding viral transmission. Evidence suggests that telemedicine, for certain conditions, may be as effective as face-to-face consultations; however, there is no research to date regarding vascular patients acceptance or satisfaction with telemedicine during, and after, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Drastic Increase in Hospital Labor Costs Leads to Sustained Financial Loss for an Academic Vascular Surgery Division During the COVID-19 Pandemic
A large, tertiary, single center, retrospective study demonstrates significant erosion of vascular surgery financial margin in the setting of dramatic increases in nursing labor costs during the pandemic. Given this widespread and unsustainable trend, supplemental government funding will be required to avoid financial catastrophe on a regional and national level.

Drastic increase in hospital labor costs led to a sustained financial loss for an academic vascular surgery division during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic
We examined the evolution and financial effects of these changes during repeated pandemic surges within a vascular surgery division at a tertiary medical center.

Disparity In Telemedicine Utilization By Vascular Surgery Patients
The current COVID pandemic has impacted health care access, resulting in the emergence of telemedicine as an essential modality for care delivery. A significant percentage of a vascular surgery practice consists of chronic care surveillance, for which telehealth is particularly well-suited. This project aimed to study telehealth access at a major academic center that cares for a diverse population.

Association between the lockdown for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and reduced surgical site infections after vascular exposure in the groin at two Italian academic hospitals
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the scrupulous hygiene rules and the restriction of contacts during the lockdown owing to the COVID-19 pandemic affected the rate and severity of surgical site infections (SSI) after vascular exposure in the groin at two Italian University Hospitals.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on a dedicated Vascular Emergency Clinic (VEC)
Vascular Emergency Clinics (VEC) improve patient outcomes in chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI). They provide a “one stop” open access policy, whereby “suspicion of CLTI” by a healthcare professional or patient leads to a direct review. We assessed the resilience of the outpatient VEC model to the first year of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Sustained Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Vascular Surgical Care Delivery
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic necessitated postponement of vascular surgery procedures nationally. Whether procedure volumes have since recovered remains undefined. Therefore, we sought to quantify changes in procedure volumes and determine whether surgical volume has returned to its prepandemic baseline.

Social inequalities and their impact on children's health: a current and global perspective
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the considerable advances observed in children's health in recent decades at a global level, the inequalities measured by different indicators show that they persist. This scenario deserves attention from researchers and decision-makers, especially in the context of the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has further intensified the situation of vulnerability and social inequalities in health around the world.PMID:34951980 | DOI:10.1016/j.jped.2021.11.004
