Vascular surgery in the COVID-19 pandemic
A novel outbreak named coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to challenge the healthcare system globally. By the beginning of April, more than 1,000,000 positive cases with 51,737 deaths have been reported (1). A worldwide response to maintain the healthcare system is essential during the pandemic. The main reason for delaying the elective procedures is to ensure that the healthcare system keeps up with the pandemic. Numerous concerns emerge regarding whether to defer the vascular procedures as well as the protection measures in the course of treatment of a COVID-19 patient.

Emerging Practice Patterns in Vascular Surgery During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Ever since the first positive test was identified on January 21, 2020, Washington State has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on information obtained from Italian surgeons in Milan and given concerns regarding rising case numbers in Washington state, we implemented new vascular surgery guidelines, which canceled all non-emergent surgical procedures and involved significant changes to our inpatient and outpatient workflow. The consequences of these decisions are not yet understood.

Dear Editor, we found that the publication on “Early Experience in the COVID-19 pandemic from a Vascular Surgery Unit in a Singapore Tertiary Hospital” is very interesting [1]. Tan et al. found that “Surgical services form an essential component of the healthcare system but as surgeons we need to be versatile and be able to respond to the ever evolving pandemic situation [1]. Management and outcomes of a Vascular Surgery Department with sudden medical staff outbreak of COVID-19
The rapidly spreading of COVID-19 pandemic, firstly identified in China, in December 2019 [1], caused an outbreak in the medical staff of our Department of Angiology and Vascular Surgery. The first positive case for COVID-19 was diagnosed on the 13th of March – the Head of the Department, when the country just counted 112 cases [2]. High risk contacts had to go through quarantine, with five more colleagues testing positive in the subsequent week. In a blink of an eye, the Department suffered a 55% reduction of medical staff (62.5% specialist reduction) .

Aortic disease in the time of COVID-19 and repercussions on patient care at an academic aortic center
The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has imposed a severe strain on healthcare systems worldwide and is now affecting all hospitals in the United States.1 As of this writing in early April 2020, most large medical centers in the United States have either restricted or completely cancelled elective surgical procedures, including cardiovascular procedures. A recent survey of vascular surgery practices around the world found that most have significantly scaled back elective surgery in the face of the pandemic.
