[The Star]The growth of palliative medicine has been phenomenal in Kenya starting in the 1990s when the first hospice was set up. Palliative care providing units, be they hospices or hospital-based, have now topped 45, thanks to the countrywide training by the Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association in partnership with other stakeholders.

Current Status of Nuclear Medicine Practice in Latin America and the Caribbean
The practice of nuclear medicine (NM) in the Latin American and Caribbean region has experienced important growth in the last decade. However, there is great heterogeneity among countries regarding the availability of technology and human resources. According to data collected through June 2014 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the total number of cameras in the region is 1,231, with an average of 2.16 per million inhabitants. The Impact of a Pediatric Emergency Department Facility Verification System on Pediatric Mortality Rates in Arizona
The Emergency Medical Services for Children State Partnership Program, as well as the Institute of Medicine report on pediatric emergency care, encourages recognition of emergency departments (EDs) through categorization and verification systems. Although pediatric verification programs are associated with greater pediatric readiness, clinical outcome data have been lacking to track the effects and patient-centered outcomes by implementing such programs.
