Lifestyle and dietary interventions for M énière's disease
CONCLUSIONS: The evidence for lifestyle or dietary interventions for Ménière's disease is very uncertain. We did not identify any placebo-controlled RCTs for interventions that are frequently recommended for those with Ménière's disease, such as salt restriction or caffeine restriction. We identified only two RCTs that compared a lifestyle or dietary intervention to placebo or no treatment, and the evidence that is currently available from these studies is of low or very low certainty. This means that we have very low confidence that the effects reported are accurate estimates of the true effect of these interventions....

Surgical interventions for M énière's disease
CONCLUSIONS: We are unable to draw clear conclusions about the efficacy of these surgical interventions for Ménière's disease. We identified evidence for only two of our five proposed comparisons, and we assessed all the evidence as low- or very low-certainty. This means that we have very low confidence that the effects reported are accurate estimates of the true effect of these interventions. Many of the outcomes that we planned to assess were not reported by the studies, such as the impact on quality of life, and adverse effects of the interventions. Consensus on the appropriate outcomes to measure in studies of MéniÃ...

Temporomandibular Disorders: Rapid Evidence Review
Am Fam Physician. 2023 Jan;107(1):52-58.ABSTRACTTemporomandibular disorders affect between 5% and 12% of the population and present with symptoms such as headache, bruxism, pain at the temporomandibular joint, jaw popping or clicking, neck pain, tinnitus, dizziness, decreased hearing, and hyperacuity to sound. Common signs on physical examination include tenderness of the pterygoid muscles, temporomandibular joints, and temporalis muscles, and malocclusion of the jaw and crepitus. The diagnosis is based on history and physical examination; however, use of computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging is recommended if ...

Hyperlipidemia and its relation with tinnitus: Cross-sectional approach
Conclusions: In conclusion, there was a significant association between hyperlipidemia and the incidence of tinnitus even after adjusting for all other risk factors. More large-scale researches are needed to assess in detail the association between different lipid components such as low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, and tinnitus epidemiology.

The effects of dietary and physical activity interventions on tinnitus symptoms: An RCT
Subjective tinnitus is defined as the perception of irregular sound at different frequencies. Although the underlying cause of tinnitus is unclear, increased body weight is known to increase tinnitus symptoms. The present study aimed to determine the effects of dietary and physical activity interventions on tinnitus symptoms.

Diet Quality and the Risk of Impaired Speech Reception Threshold in Noise: The UK Biobank cohort
Conclusions: Adherence to a healthy diet did not show an association with the speech reception threshold in noise. More research is needed to identify the impact of individual foods or nutrients on this outcome.

Online Discussions About Tinnitus: What Can We Learn From Natural Language Processing of Reddit Posts?
CONCLUSIONS: Despite some limitations, tinnitus posts on Reddit provide rich real-world data to identify various issues and complaints that tinnitus patients and their significant others discuss in online communities. Some of the clusters identified here are novel (e.g., tinnitus timeline, interactions with people without tinnitus) and have not been much discussed in the tinnitus literature. The results suggest that individuals with tinnitus relay on social media for support and highlight the service delivery needs in providing social support through other means (e.g., support groups).PMID:35130042 | DOI:10.1044/2021_AJA-21-00158
