Benefits of adding stretching to a moderate-intensity aerobic exercise programme in women with fibromyalgia: a randomized controlled trial.
CONCLUSION: Adding stretching to a moderate-intensity aerobic exercise programme increased sleep quality, decreased the impact of fibromyalgia on the quality of life, and reduced pain compared with just a moderate-intensity aerobic exercise programme in our sample of women with fibromyalgia. Overactive Bladder Symptoms in Patients with Fibromyalgia:A Systematic Case-Controlled Study.
CONCLUSION: This systematic controlled study confirms that fibromyalgia is associated with overactive bladder symptoms. The relatively high prevalence of 93% indicates that overactive bladder is an important urological association of fibromyalgia and should be routinely assessed in these patients. Dorsal root ganglia: fibromyalgia pain factory?
AbstractThisperspective article focuses on dorsal root ganglia (DRG) as potential fibromyalgia main pain source. Humans possess 31 pairs of DRG lying along the spine. These ganglia have unique anatomical and physiological features. During development, DRG are extruded from the central nervous system and from the blood-brain barrier but remain surrounded by meningeal layers and by cerebrospinal fluid. DRG house the pain-transmitting small nerve fiber nuclei; each individual nucleus is tightly enveloped by metabolically active glial cells. DRG possess multiple inflammatory/pro-nociceptive molecules including ion channels, ne...

Altered regulation of negative affect in patients with fibromyalgia: A diary study
ConclusionsCurrent findings support the idea that patients with fibromyalgia are confronted with fluctuating emotions. These results may have important implications for treatment as they provide support for the use of emotion regulation skills training in patients with fibromyalgia to impact upon NA instability.SignificanceThis study provides novel insight in the link between emotion regulation indices, that is, heart ‐rate variability and negative affective (NA) instability, in patients with fibromyalgia, and presents evidence for differences in both emotion regulation indices between patients with fibromyalgia and healt...

Clinical Assessment of Autonomic Function in Fibromyalgia by the Refined and Abbreviated Composite Autonomic Symptom Score (COMPASS 31): A Case-Controlled Study
CONCLUSION: This study confirms that non-pain autonomic dysfunction symptoms occur in fibromyalgia and can be assessed with COMPASS 31.PMID:34126910 | DOI:10.2174/1574887116666210612033002
