The Role and Treatment Implications of Peripheral and Central Processing of Pain, Pruritus, and Nausea in Heightened Somatic Awareness: A Review
This article reviews the acute neural transmission of pain, pruritus, and nausea symptoms, which can begin in the periphery and/or viscera. The subsequent multiple pathways in the central nervous system that become involved in the processing of these symptoms are also discussed. The authors describe human brain imaging studies that have revealed consistent cortical and subcortical networks  activated by these symptoms, including sensory, limbic, and associative regions. In particular, the authors discuss information revealed by the studies regarding the primary somatosensory cortex, secondary somatosensory cortex, anterio...

Comorbidities in patients with all‐positive symptoms on sinonasal outcomes test quality‐of‐life instrument
ConclusionThe SNOT‐20 questionnaire assists clinicians to monitor outcomes in patients treated for CRS. However, clinicians should suspect other underlying chronic conditions in SNOT‐20 pan‐positive patients. Level of Evidence3B. Laryngoscope, 2015

The impact of comorbid migraine on quality of life outcomes after endoscopic sinus surgery
Conclusion: Patients with comorbid migraine and CRS are more likely to have less severe evidence of disease and worse preoperative baseline QOL scores. This may imply that comorbid migraine disorder, in the setting of CRS, compels these patients to seek surgical management earlier in the disease process. Regardless, ESS provides comparable improvement for both patients with and without comorbid migraine.

Identification of chronic rhinosinusitis phenotypes using cluster analysis
ConclusionA simplified algorithm based upon hierarchical clustering is able to classify CRS patients and predict medication usage. Further studies are warranted to determine if such clustering predicts treatment outcomes.

Irritable bowel syndrome subtypes: Clinical and psychological features, body mass index and comorbidities.
CONCLUSION: IBS-M is characterized by symptoms frequently reported by both IBS-C (straining) and IBS-D (urgency), higher levels of anxiety, and high prevalence of comorbidities. These features should be considered in the clinical management of this subgroup. PMID: 26616258 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Examination of high ‐antibiotic users in a multi‐institutional cohort of chronic rhinosinusitis patients
ConclusionVariability in antibiotic use in CRS appears to be driven by symptom burden, independent of objective measures of disease severity, patient demographics, and presence of comorbid disease. Clear guidelines are essential to define appropriate antibiotic use in CRS.
