Development and sustainment of professional relationships within longitudinal integrated clerkships in general practice (LICs): a narrative review
ConclusionsThe longitudinal integrated clerkship model of clinical education facilitates the development of meaningful triangular relationships between student, clinical teacher and patient, which are the central drivers of successful learning within the context of an LIC. These relationships are nested in a set of important supporting relationships involving other supervisors, the medical school and university, the practice clinical and administrative team and peers.

P205  The contemporary presentation and management of giant cell arteritis with large vessel vasculitis
Conclusion In modern-day clinical practice, patients with LV-GCA experience a longer time to diagnosis than those with cranial symptoms. Patients with LV-GCA can experience an array of constitutional symptoms. Frequently, more than one imaging modality is required to confirm LV-GCA and the majority of patie nts will have seen other hospital specialists or have been admitted to hospital before diagnosis. Methotrexate and tocilizumab are the most frequently-used and effective steroid-adjunct in this single-centre cohort.Disclosure O. Cronin: None.N.D. McKay: Consultancies; Gilead. Estimating pertussis incidence in general practice using a large Australian primary care database
CONCLUSION: We provide comprehensive estimates of pertussis-related incidence in general practice (primary care), well in excess of notified pertussis incidence in Australia. This highlights the utility of MedicineInsight data in providing a greater understanding of the burden of medically-attended pertussis infections.PMID:34119346 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2021.05.079

COVID-19's impact on primary care and related mitigation strategies: A scoping review
CONCLUSION: The COVID-19 pandemic has considerably impacted on primary care at both service and patient levels, and various strategies to mitigate these impacts have been described. Future research examining the pandemic's ongoing impacts on primary care, as well as strategies to mitigate these impacts, is a priority.PMID:34282695 | DOI:10.1080/13814788.2021.1946681

Out-of-hours services and end-of-life hospital admissions: a complex intervention systematic review and narrative synthesis
CONCLUSION: Although OOH end-of-life care can often be readily resolved by hospital admissions, it comes with multiple challenges that seem to be widespread and systemic. Further research is therefore necessary to understand the complexities of OOH services-initiated end-of-life care hospital admissions and how the challenges underpinning such admissions might best be addressed.PMID:34489250 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2021.0194
