Clinical correlation with failure of endovenous therapy for leg swelling.
Conclusion These preliminary data suggest that the treatment with diuretics may be associated with failure to relieve lower extremity swelling despite combined endovascular therapy for chronic venous insufficiency. PMID: 28409546 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring: Role in Screening for Vascular Disease?
Coronary Artery Calcium Scores (CACS) for coronary artery disease (CAD) screening is well established. However, there is no known association between CACS and non-coronary atherosclerotic disease. We hypothesize that CACS may be an accurate predictor of peripheral arterial disease, which this initial study evaluates.

Calcium phosphate product level as a predictor for arteriovenous fistula re-operations in patients with chronic renal failure.
CONCLUSIONS: High calcium phosphate product level leads to increased risk of arteriovenous fistula re-operation by causing arterial stiffness in this patient group. Additionally, these re-operations place additional burden on morbidity and cost efficacy. Thus, we recommend keeping the calcium phosphate product level at the optimal level in these patients to avoid both the risk of arteriovenous fistula re-operation and the other cardiovascular problems. Skeletal and cardiovascular consequences of a positive calcium balance during hemodialysis.
Authors: Elias RM, Moe S, Moysés RMA Abstract Patients on hemodialysis are exposed to calcium via the dialysate at least three times a week. Changes in serum calcium vary according to calcium mass transfer during dialysis, which is dependent on the gradient between serum and dialysate calcium concentration (d[Ca]) and the skeleton turnover status that alters the ability of bone to incorporate calcium. Although underappreciated, the d[Ca] can potentially cause positive calcium balance that leads to systemic organ damage, including associations with mortality, myocardial dysfunction, hemodynamic tolerability, vascul...
